Great job on the Panzer III, Rick! Feel free to claim the badge with the campaign medal now.

Those planes are all lookin' good, at this rate I might have to build an 88...

Thanks for the kind words guys Smile [:)].

I'll wear the medal proudly, soon as I get it on Photobucket that is...

dupes, arkii, great looking work so far! Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]

Rick, awesome work as always. Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]  I may have to try some of those 48 scale kits some day.

Question for everyone.  I don't do a lot of armor so I'm unfamiliar with some of the colors used in North Africa.  What are some of the choices, preferably acrylic, for british armor in NA?  I'm doing the Morris quad and 25 pdr.  I'm in Vancouver and hope to pick something up tomorrow at the shop before I head home so a quick reply would be helpful.  Thanks in advance.

Crikey, if you'd catch the ferry we could have a beer! Actually, I could do that and meet you in Vancouver maybe :)

For WWII British armour acrylics, your best bets are Xtracrylics from Hannants, so no trip necessary.

However, for mail ordering anyway, I'd go for Colourcoats from WEM .. although these are enamels.

Was able to get the decals on the Macchi in between football games the past couple of days. Wink [;)]

Sadly, the quality was pretty poor...at first glance they seemed to be nice and thin, and even looked like they were going to go down pretty well over the future. But it was not to be so. Sad [:(]

Despite 3 apps of Solvaset, they're pretty ragged (as you can see on the wing). No close up pics for you!

SMJ - will have to look at the link later...dialup is particularly pokey today. Meh. Thanks, though!

Rick:  Fantastic work there!  I think a small base simulating sand would really make it stand out.

Dupes:  Great job on the 202!  As the others have said, the smoke rings look fabulous.  Too bad about the decals, but they look fine in the photograph.  Nice to know my Kittyhawk will have something to tangle with in the air!

Arki30:  The colors look great on your P-40K!  I can't wait to see it with the decals on.  I don't have too much time to dedicate to my build, so it's progressing slowly.  I'm just finishing up the cockpit and fuselage.

Great work, guys!

Mark

Hhehehehehhehehe...there we go. Now I'm all set! Laugh [(-D] They were pretty weird...all kinds of tiny bubbles popped up ALLLLL over the decals - not really any silvering? Dunno. That and they seemed to react to Solvaset about as well as oil does to water. Heh. Evil [}:)]

Brews - my AB is a...(looking it up right now)...Peak C-5. Peak is the BearAir "house" brand - which is pretty much a direct knockoff of some other big name brand...not sure which one though. Eight Ball [8]

I saw the Peak A/B when I got an email from FSM about a Sweepstakes sometime ago. It reminded me of my Iwata. I wonder if the internal parts are interchangeable ...

Brews - which Iwata do you have? I'll look it up, see how they compare. I've always thought about "upgrading" but this thing seems to be pretty solid. Don't know how it compares really to one of the big boys.

The camera would only lie if I took pictures at say, certain angles and distances that wouldn't allow one to see the flaws in said decals. Heheh. Mischief [:-,]

Maybe I'll throw one of the nasty ones up.

I have been using an HP C+ this year.

My other airbrushes are Badger 100 side feed, 150, 155, 350 and 360, and Thayer and Chandler Type 1 side feed (my favourite). I'll have them back with me next month.

The Iwata is my only gravity-feed weapon, and I like the feel of it. It's a bit of a pain to paint areas evenly (it's not intended to paint large areas), but it's great for fine lines and spots.

Wow, that's quite the lineup! Did you get different ones for different tasks, or paint types? Or have you just build up a collection over the years?

Judging by the pics, your HP-C is almost identical to the C5 I'm rocking. Thumbs Up [tup]

Yes, I've collected them over the years. I forgot, too, I have a Paasche VL that was my only brush for years. It was a hand-me-down from my mother, who'd used it for pottery glazes or something.

I got the Badger 100 and Thayer & Chandler from ebay. They both needed cleaning, but at $25, I can clean an airbrush.

Happy New Year!

Made some progress on the Spit-interior is 90% complete.  I still need to attach the P.E. belts but I don't feel like doing that tonight.  Also, the wash is a bit too dark on the interior sides, but once everything is buttoned up, it won't be seen....so why did I do the wash in the first place?  Because it's there!

Anyway, comments welcome...

Mmmmm...Spitfire. Was thinking of doing one of these for the British part of the campaign, but I've got sooooo many a/c builds lined up I'm going to have to find a way to fit in some armor in there somewhere. Big Smile [:D]

Looking good Bob!

arki, Dupes & Rick-thanks.  I can't say enough about this Tamiya kit (to this point)-very painless.  Only thing lacking is a more detailed IP-decals or raised marking.  Also, this is one of the few planes that had I chosen to open the side cockpit door & leave the canopy open, a lot of detail would be visible....hmmm...maybe next time.

Made a bit of progress today-it's starting to look like a Spitfire

Probably won't get to do anything else until the weekend.

Rick & Dupes-thanks

Dupes-the belts are Eduard-they make a pack of 4 sets for Spitfires-two for older versions, two for newer versions.

Rick (back tracking a couple of pages) outstanding work on the Pz.III, it looks fantastic.

Dupes the Macchi is looking equally great, I can't wait to see it finished.

Bob the front office on your spit looks spot on, nice work.  Don't worry about that Tamiya Spit even with the canopy opened you can't see a great deal of the IP, the biggest thing you notice is the seat and harness.

Arki how about some photos to show off your creation

Progress on my Pz.III has slowed a tad due to the Christmas New Year break with about the only work I've completed is I primed all of the PE parts with the new Tamiya fine white primer in a bottle (not rattle can).  This stuff is excellent and will be my PE primer of choice in the future.

Cheers
