Hurry back Lycra man, we'll miss you LOL.

Saddler, love the T34, if your not using the PVA on your tank cos its too thick. Just thin it down with some water. Simple.

Alright Winter Warriors...I've decided to get my butt out of the Frozen Wasteland Of The North and head down to Florida to play some G-O-L-F. Cool [8D]

I'll be gone until next Monday...but keep cranking out the builds! I'm leaving SMJ and Espins in charge, unless someone else wants to do it. Laugh [(-D] No changing the build guidelines while I'm gone, you two. Wink [;)]

Hopefully I can check in some time over my too-short vacation, but I don't know what the availability of internet access is where I'm staying. Have a good one fellas! Stay warm! Tongue [:P]

Very nice work Saddler.  Very nice.  I'm always impressed with people that can turn out great work in the very small scales.  Great job.

Yeah the snow is only temporary, its from senic and i need to find a way to fix it to a small tank. (They supply some pvc glue but thats no good for 1/72nd armour!)

Dang Saddler - that was quick! Came out really good, too. Wink [;)]Thumbs Up [tup]

Is the "snow" version just temporary? Sprinkle on some WS stuff?

Snag your badge, sir! Big Smile [:D]

NO SNOW

WITH SNOW

Finally just to give those who dont bulid in 1/72, here it is next to my ipod!

Any comments or suggestions welcome

Hey Fyuri - I don't have a TON of experience with resin, but depending how much you need to remove, I usually start off with my dremel, move to a hobby blade, and finish with sandpaper. Wear your respirator though, and do it outside (if you can) - it makes a big mess.

As for taking pics of your models, mine were always pretty crappy until someone pointed me toward this guys site:

http://www.strobist.blogspot.com/2006/07/how-to-diy-10-macro-photo-studio.html

Ever since all my pics have been MUCH better. You may have to adjust the dimensions of the box a bit to fit your stuff in depending what scales you work with, but it's very easy to make. Big Smile [:D]

I was wondering if someone could help me out with two very basic things...

This is my first serious build, and the kit I have contains a few resin pieces. What is the best method for removing the surplus resin?

Also, if anyone has any good ideas about photographing models, please let me know. I can't seem to get things right with that. Thanks.

Thanks Tellis.  With a little luck, I should have both finished by the end of March....ok, maybe a lot of luck....

Looking forward to seeing your T-34 in it's winter wardrobe....

Bob, thanks for the feedback. I'm a Tamiya guy but this Academy kit was a fun build, plus it was enjoyable to have the interior to detail. I really like the scheme you are putting on your T-34, it's nice to see some variance in a world of OD green.  Looks like you'll have fun with that Willys too.

Youre T-34 looks great!  Looking forward to seeing the whitewash Saddler!

I managed to get some more of the details installed on the lower hull last night.  This is a fun little kit.  It's good practice for these big hands working with all those fiddly little parts.  Laugh [(-D]

A couple more update picsof my 1/72 T34. The base model is now complete and ready for the winter whitewash. I took these pics as a record should it all go a bit wrong!

Believe everything you read about this kit, the engineering and fit are fantastic! Approve [^]  If you run into snags, trust me, they are self induced (don't ask me how I know this.... Laugh [(-D]).  I'm really impressed with this kit!

Here are some pics after having added the fenders,  support brackets, hull top armor plates and various other detail parts.  The box with the perforated sides consists of 5 separate parts which were a little fiddly because they're so small, but with good tweezers, patience and lots of care it managed to go together nicely.  It hasn't been glued to the fender yet so the gap you see underneath the box is because it i's just sitting on the fender right now.

Hahhhaaaa, whilst I may be color blind, I can still read! Big Smile [:D] I'm always very careful to keep the labels of my paint jars very legible for identification purposes...so I'm pretty sure she isn't pink. Yet. Laugh [(-D]

Actually, any solid color background would work. If you just grab a single sheet of posterboard in white, black, or blue to lay on your table before taking pics the contrast would be greatly enhanced! Also makes it easier to pick out all the details on your builds. Thumbs Up [tup]

hey bob,i know your anguish at trying to work with tracks that have already been primed.much to my dismay the little 38t tracks are no longer just a challenge.but a nightmare.scrape scrape, test fit, scrape.SoapBox [soapbox].dupes,i do'nt know what to do.it seems that no matter what i try it,s always something.your to close ,your to far,now i know what charlie brown feels like.lolBanged Head [banghead].and now you tell me your color blind!from now on all my submissions to you will be in dunkelgelb, and i'll just tell you what color they are and you take my word for it .ok.Blindfold [X-)]if you were'nt in main i'd just run right over and show you.well i am limited on good backgrounds,i know the old wood grained table with all the background clutter doesnt help much.i'll try some sixties pinwheel clusters next time.actually a suggestion as to what type or color backdrop may help.keep up the fantastic work everyone.oh and dupes, soft pink is not a good winter camo. for so noble a kitty.hhaaahhhaaaa.you guys are great.

The front hull plate assembly is finished.  Those little PE brackets for the right side hatch were a bit of a pain in the a**, but I'm sure my issues were self induced.  Whistling [:-^]

Bob - indies look good from here...any problems?

Thanks.  Problems were self-induced.  I primed (auto primer black) the treads while they were on the spruce. Seemed like a good idea at the time....Banged Head [banghead] Not sure about the fit of the treads without the primer-with the primer, a lot of them didn't want to link together well. Poor fit.  And with the primer on, Testor's nor Tamiya liquid cement would work.  Out comes the CA, which makes it hard to manipulate the treads while in process.  I really think that the treads are a bit 'loose' around the front sprocket, but again, I'll live with it at this point.

Bob - indies look good from here...any problems?

Ruddratt - hope your airacobra shows up soon too - only 50 days to go! Shock [:O] And I've got to finish a Panther and Stuka in that time span six days lost in Florida playing golf...!Cool [8D]

SMJ - You ain't kidding about me needing to get something done! I had actually set out to do the "slightly_altered-hairspray" method on this one - think I told you that the other day. However, the freehand camo I did wasn't exactly what I was looking for, so I decided instead to go the "panzer88-halftrack-style" of painting with the nice soft edges and blended camo. This way I'm not revealing toooo much of the paintjob underneath I wasn't 100% happy with, and it's still very possible to get close to that pic I'm working off of. I'll have to look over your tutorial again, see what I can steal from it...Wink [;)] "CRISP" - I like it! That's what I'm shooting for. Thanks about the PE work, glad it payed off. Big Smile [:D]

Not much progress last night, permanently attached the tracks, wheels, and side skirts. Also had to make a hatch handle - didn't realize that the driver's compartment top entry was missing the grabhandle - guessing it's somewhere in the back of my spray booth or something! Ended up experimenting with some brass wire, bending and sanding. Started painting the tools so I can attach those before I start the whole weathering process...hmmm. That might be it.

dupes:  You made some serious progress...it's about time!!!...you'd think you were busy with, say, 12 GB builds or somethingWink [;)]!!!

Man, that Panther is looking really impressive!  Your builds are so damn crisp, really fantastic work there sir, all That PE work is paying off now!!!  I like your choice of pics' too, and I DO recognize that one from the book...I actually considered that look for my Panther G Late.  That's a heavy winter coat on that bad-boy...tough to spray that white camo' over what's already a perfectly good camo' scheme, isn't it?...masterfully done I must sayBow [bow]Yours is a prime candidate for my Winter camo" Toot', please at least take a look...especially the whitewash brush technique...give me a call to discuss further.

Great work dupes...Thumbs Up [tup]
