ok, I am up to my ears in aligators, but I am NOT willing to drain the swamp SOOOO.....

I have a Tamiya M8 Howitzer that I wanted to do in a simple diorama {the Squadron book has a couple of pictures, one is in snowy conditions the other is the M8 on a road aiming up a steep hill that also would look good in a snow scene.

If I survive the builds I am in, I would like to play in this one too...

Sounds good dostacos! (Doesn't that mean 2 tacos? Big Smile [:D]) Glad to have you.

Make sure that your M8 has a winter scheme - can't just be an OD build set in a winter dio.

I tried to find your kit - is it 1/35 or 1/48?

dan + double cab tacoma jeanie + double cab tacoma= dostacosWink [;)]

1/35 old Tamiya, still out there but I think it is OOP this the M 5 stuart type with the short barrel howitzer  open top. I plan on doing a cheap white wash over the OD {very faded} and snow on ground in the tracks etc.

My son is going to do a German halftrack with the rocket pods on the outside {probably the white with the mud streaked on the side in the Squadron book}

Roger that! Big Smile [:D]

I HAD enough snow here...been freakishly cold and snowing all month, and then for the past couple days it's been freakishly warm - like 45 degrees. The two and a half feet are now down to about six inches and a big sheet of ice. I would rather have had the snow. Sad [:(]

Ho hoooo! Only 4 days left! I'm still waiting to see what some of you fellas are going to build, but currently I'm leaning toward the DML Panther A Late...I think. Propeller [8-] Sooo many choices!

Be sure to tell all of your other forum buddies to get themselves over here sometime soon...Whistling [:-^]

Ha ha! Excellent. You have any A/C that fit the bill? Or would you be going armor? Wink [;)]

I know I'm awaiting the end of voting for IMS2 as well - depending how it turns out, I have a kit that would fulfill the A/C badge for this one...pretty rare occurence in MY stash, anyway, assuming I depend on the kit-supplied markings.

It won't be a crossover....depending on how the pending IMS 2 vote goes.  Basically, if the particular aircraft isn't voted on by the group for IMS 2 I'll use it for this build.

If it is voted on (and the votes don't seem to be going that way) I won't be in this build.  Big Smile [:D]  Easy cheesy.

Dupes, I can now say I'm in Thumbs Up [tup]  Put me down for a 1/48 ICM Bf-109F-4.  It'll be in the markings of Hauptmann Hans Philipp, JG 54, Russian Front 1942.

This will be the first winter camo I've ever attempted, so I'm looking forward to screwing it up. Approve [^]

Guys,

Not to stray off topic here, but arki30's comment about first winter camo' made me think I could throw in a reminder (plug) about my tutorial.  I will also add a new thread.

For anyone trying a winter camo' for the first time, go read my thread in armor "Winter Camo' Tutorial"...should be FUN!!!

Hi All,

I'm a rookie here but this GB got me fired up. I haven't built a model in 30+ years but I'd like to give it a try. Bought a HS-129 at my LHS so I'd like to give it a try.

EXCELLENT (in best Mr.Burns voice while steepling fingers). Glad to have all of you guys! The more people we can get involved here, the better our chances of causing a whitewash shortage in all of the local hobby stores. Hehehe. Mischief [:-,]

Arki - sounds awesome. Did the kit come with a set of winter markings? Or are you going the AM route? Interestingly enough, as a result of the IMS2 vote, looks like I have an a/c that fits the bill - the JU87 that almost won has a winter scheme that would look awfully neat on my shelf... I'm sure I'll find a way to screw up the paintjob right along with you. Wink [;)]

Detailfreak - let me know what you decide, I'll put you down for the Panzer III J for now until I hear otherwise. Good to have you!

1trickpony - Sign - Welcome [#welcome]! Glad to hear that this GB is inspiring people to build - I know it's working for me! I remember my first one not SO long ago quite fondly. Big Smile [:D] Can you tell me the manufacturer and scale of your HS-129?

Sorry, it's an AMT 1:48 scale. Not too complex since I'm just getting back and a lot has changed. Been having fun doing the research and reading these forums for tips and tricks. (Time to learn more than one.....)

Hey guys, well its new years eve here in Aus so I'll be making a start on the T-34 tomorrow some time (depending on my hangover).  Oh and btw the temp here today is a wintery brisk 107 degrees Fahrenheit Cool [8D]

Oh and a modeling question, does anybody know what color the interior of Soviet WWII tanks should be?

Cheers

Unlike Australia, the temp over in NJ is in the upper 's.  According to the weather report, it should b snowing here soon.  Nothing like some snow to kick off winter Wariors!

Based on my few refs the interior color sould be white, whice is what I used, but depending on how you plan to weather the interior you might want to use an off white to keep it less stark.  I'm sure there was a lot of variation when it came to paint colors is the Soviet army.

Happy new year to all of you and your families!Smile [:)]

Tomorrow's the day!!! Fitting that I've been shoveling snow most of the morning...Angry [:(!] We're actually running out of room to put it all...and I have a BIG driveway. Shock [:O]

Trying to finish up a couple of other builds I have going on, but I may take something out of the box and glue some suspension parts together. Wink [;)]

Remember, drinking and driving modeling don't mix. Don't ruin a good kit by trying to build while intoxicated! This message brought to you by your group build moderator. Laugh [(-D]

arki30,

Can't keep a steady hand with Grey Goose in ya', helps you relax though.  Maybe just keep to the drybrush swirls...is that the model spinnin' or me...???
