Hey, ur right.  there hasnt been much going on here.  there's been some great Group Builds lately.  Even I've been busy with some.  Although, I did manage to finish a couple more Classic Kits.

First up, the Airfix 1:72 RA-5C Vigilante

Next up, the Monogram 1:48 TBF Avenger

WOw, you did super justice to the TBF!  I got tired of scraping flash on my kit :)  got as far as a painted engine, primed prop, and "interior".

I do have a classic Monogram T28, thats what I need to build. plus it's simpler :)

Thanks, but it's all in the classic kit :)

I have another, though it's in a Pro-modeller box with PE.

You know what, Brews, i dont.  The build went so damg fast I would have had updates literally every hour.  I think it took a whopping 2 days to build it.  I can tell ya, get out your putty and sand-paper.  You'll need it. And the canopy is a b**ch to mask. Other than that, goes together like a dream. Not a lot of filling and sanding, but the two areas that need it, need it bad.  And for me, my kit had lost the exhaust pipe.  Mine was made from brass tube. Heated and bent into shape, then cut off and hogged out to create the fluted tip.

Man, some great work you guys are cranking out! Especially that Avenger and Do 335. Cool [8D]

Just picked up the Monogram F-5E Tiger II...may have to submit another entry. Big Smile [:D]

You guys know of any aftermarket goodies for that kit? Not coming up with much. Need to keep digging. Wink [;)]

Greetings guys, Viper I really like how you did the Completed Builds on pg 1 Thumbs Up [tup] There has been some really Fantastic build-ups of these old forgotten kits.  Since this GB runs untill 12/31/08 I will include another  - Next Up a Airfix Blohm & Voss B.v.141  This is such an unusual looking aircraft, that when I found it in the Tomb of Stash I just had to take it to the bench !

The pilots seat looked like two blocks of wood out of the kit. I filed and sanded it to more of a fighter type seat .

BV-1

Crazy looking plane isnt it ?  The prototype was Plagued with problems.....Whistling [:-^] Sure would not of wanted to be a Luftwaffe Test Pilot ..

A closer look at the pit.

BV-2

FROG Ta 152H1 almost complete - just needs spinner spiral:

Also been working on an ancient Tamiya J7W1 Shinden, and an Airfix Beaver. I really will get back to the Hunter soon, though.

Hey everyone.  I'd like to thank everyone who participated in the Classic Kits GB.  This was the first GB I'd hosted, and the turnout was FAR beyond what I could have imagined.  So thank you to all!!!

Now, being that the last one ran from Feb 08 to Dec 08, its now March, and I'm wondering if maybe a 2nd annual run might be in order? Any thoughts?

I have many Monogram kits in the stashola which I imagine would qualify (what was the criteria? pre-1980?) so if it were later this year I believe I would be able to return!

I was thinking sometime around the end of may for a start time.  Maybe May 31 - Dec 31.  And I'm thinking for criteria, same as before with a slight change.

  • No Aftermarket [decals can be subbed if kit ones are DOA]
  • No EXTENSIVE scratchbuilding [keep it original]
  • Kit has to be at LEAST 25yrs old.
Basically, its the same criteria they use to define a classic car.  Over 25yrs old, original [or restored to original].  No mods.

Hey Rob, This was my first GB and one of my Favorites. I think the turnout would be good as there is a lot of interest in the older kits. Check out Sfcmac's  Baa Baa Black Sheep 1/32 builds up in aircraft that was recently posted. Thumbs Up [tup]

I am always building "old Classics" myself. Right now I have another Revell 1/32 P-40 on the bench getting the treatment...

I am in for another round Make a Toast [#toast]

I am down with joining another round of this GB.

I have a ton of classic kits. Some of which were already done in this GB!

You name the start time and I will be there :)

hey Rob, count me in with the Airfix 1/72 Vosper MBT. And one suggestion I have, maybe start a new thread for the new classic Kit GB.
