Well done dupes!  Topside looks spectacular, like the three-tone job you did.  Only thing I see besides the aerials is the color on the bottom outer portions of the wings, instead of dark blue those should be intermediate blue.  Otherwise, a stunning Corsair! Approve [^]

Good on you, Dupes!!I like it. The tri color is a little differant, but niceThe only thing I see that looks a bit wierd is your antana wire. Looks a little thick. But I`m not good at that sort of thing anyway! Thanks for the pics and congrats on finishing!!............Harv

As promised, some finished pics for my Corsair! Big Smile [:D]

Overall I like how she turned out...some issues with decal silvering, but hopefully I can get that worked out in the future with dozens of applications of micro/solva/softer-sol. The engine wiring was a first for me - will no doubt attempt that again in the future on some other ambitious build.

Comments? Suggestions? Anything I missed?

Wow, Boba...that is quite a drastic transformation from those early pics to where she is right now. Looks great! Cool [8D]

Is there a "remedial decaling" class available online somewhere? I swear despite gallons of future, micro-set, -sol, and other assorted trickery, I CAN NOT get an entire set of decals down without silvering something. Aaaargh! Going to have to use some "selective angle photography" on this one. Disapprove [V]

Boba that looks great!!!!! Was well worth the wait for the pics!!!! And Blacksheep to boot!!!!!!!!!!!!Approve [^]Approve [^]Thumbs Up [tup]Make a Toast [#toast] The ONLY thing that caught my eye was the placement of the Squadron Crest. Not saying it's wrong at all, I might even learn something here! The reference photos in USN/USMC OVER KOREA by SquadronSignal, show it on the cowl sides. But that is just on a few photos. Most of the shots of the Blacksheep don't have the crest at all. So I'm Confused [%-)] lol. Did the instructions say to put it there? My 1/72 Italeri is going to be a Blacksheep bird as well. It's languishing on the bench at the moment while I concentrate on finishing my 1/72 Swordfish. Just my My 2 cents [2c], Aussie cents at that, not worth much!Laugh [(-D] GREAT BUILD!!!!

Very nice, Dupes!Thumbs Up [tup]

Hey guys! I have the pictures of the Corsair! Here they are...

before paint...

Painting is done...

and finally, after decals.

Now this is where my decal ripped. It's hard to see in the pic (I must have lost the pic somewhere, but from a distance, it's not too noticable.) Anyway, That wraps it up!

Cheers!

YEEEEE HHHHHHHHAAA! Woot! I have a few assembly pics! (Finally, some time.) Painting pics will be added later. Now remember, I wasn't trying to do a super-detailed beast of AM. I just wanted a decent model on my shelf. Enjoy!

Alas, the figure that never got used...

Looking good, Frank! I LOVE that finish -- natural lustre of the paints or topcoated?

Cheers,

Mike

Thanks Richie!  I'm really liking this one too, cool to see something a bit different. Big Smile [:D]

I finished adding the decals this evening, not very many in fact.  From the photos I have, it looks like most stenciling was painted over during it's repaints.  So, I added only the stars, serial number, tape over fuel hatch, and the number "12" to both front gear doors.  Here's how she looks right now:

Very, very nice, Frank! I'm really looking forward to trying one of these multi-tone variations. My attempts to generate a high gloss have lately been less than inspiring but I think I could do a very nice job on a lower lustre scheme. The post-shading came out extremely well!

I finished the base colors today, ending with the black sides.  During the course of the painting, I opted to weather each color a bit before going on to the next.  I used a very thin NATO black color to darken the panel lines, and add a little shadow in deep recesses.  Then, I used a lightened version of the base color to lighten up the centers of the panels, as well as some overall splotchiness.  Overall, I am happy with how it is looking so far.

Don't worry, I will also weather that awful colored radome in due time. Smile [:)]
