Here I thought I had a sooper-dooper rare version of the 109.

I have a Trimaster TA-152C-0 that looks to be quite the project.  I bought it sight unseen from a guy and it turned out to be a mixed blessing.  Thought I was buying that kit plus a couple of extras, but in reality it is the kit minus the Dragon donor kit.  But, inside the box I found two sets of Moskit exhausts (one for a late 109 and the other for a Spitfire) a resin wood tail for the Tamiya FW-190D-9, resin FW-190D-15 conversion kit, and a few other pieces.  All in all, not bad!  Just gotta find a reasonably priced Dragon Dora Donor kit and I'm in business.

Frank does it come with the Ta-152 tail? If not then you need a dragon D-12 or Ta-152 kit. The 152-C would of had the 152H type tail rather then the standered steel D-9 tail. I think the D-15 is a D-12/13 with a Db605 engine.

I should clarify- the butchered fuselage pieces are in the box, from the Dragon TA-152H with the correct tail.  I can make those work, and the wing (if you can call those awful pieces of styrene that!) are there as well.  I have a bunch of spare parts from the Tamiya D-9, including stabs and elevators.  The Tammy cockpit looks like it will fit with a little finesse.  Looking at the project more closely, I think I could get it built with what I have on hand.  Every time I think about doing it, I look at the awful wing and quietly put it back into the box.

I think you're right on the D-15.  It looks very similar to the 152C-0 with the left side intake and modified cowl.  Also has the 152H tail, and the wide paddle blades.  There are 4 white metal bits in the box, but no instructions came with it so I don't really know what they are for.  Two of them look like boxes for boxing in the shell ejections ports, and the other two are small oval pieces with a curve in them.

Stan- Looking good, you're moving right along.

Aaron- Just a trick of the light on the panel lines, I'm leaving them raised, I re-scribed panel lines once and didn't enjoy it all.  With the right techniques I think you can make raised panel lines look nearly as good as recessed ones.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it it...

Mike, couldn't agree more on rescribing raised panel lines.

I've sanded most of them off the Caudron I'm working on at the moment, and will shade them in with masking tape and Tamiya Smoke, far less stressful!

I'll probably do the same with the Airfix Huricane, I'm nothing if not lazy!

Aaron, hope you beat those nacelles into submission soon, not literally of course!

Hey Mike and Stan I remember reading an article along time ago about adding panel lines with a pencil. I always wanted to try it. It look very convincing to me. Just another option that would be far less stressfull than rescribing.

Hi guys, geez I slip away for a couple of days and bang there's more progress than you poke a stick at, great work all.

Progress wise for me the 110 is coming along slowly but surely but on the weekend I managed to pickup four resin sets from Quickboost which I'll definitely be adding.  The Quickboost stuff is cheap and easy to use and should spark up an already great kit.

I'm still trying to finish up small Gallic odities and Japanese Hellcat fodder! Not alot of progress on either this week due to being on an ITIL SAM course.

I am going to follow Dave's example and resurrect an incomplete build from a previous BoB GB, namely my Hasa 1/72 He111P. It's languished in the cupboard for the last 2 years, with a great set of AIMS decals.

Not sure if I'll do this before or after the Hurricane, who knows!

I managed to finish up the cockpit on my 109 tonight, here it is:

Mostly OOB, with home-made seatbelts/hardware, foot restraining straps on the rudder pedals, added detail to the gunsight including reflector plate glass, and painted instruments with epoxy lenses.  I also glued the fuselage halves together last night, and plan to attack that tonight.  If all goes well, I'll be able to install the office and glue on the wing tonight. 

Wowzers! that looks good enough to eat. Frank. Now sing with me( to the tune of <"I've Been Working On the Railroad") I've been masking on my dornier...... all the live long day, and night.

OK all you BoB gurus out there, can any of you tell me whether or not any of the following units participated? These are the only markings I have for an E-3.....

2.Staffel - 7./JG77 - 8./JG2 - 9./JG54 - III/JG54 - 1./JG51 - 4./JG54

Mike- I'm no BoB guru, but according to my references the only one of the ones you listed that was available for the BoB was 1./JG51.  Can anyone else verify this?

Mike, I picked up Jon Lake's very nice BoB book at the local librairies used book sale for $10.00 earlier this summer (score!).  According to this source all of the above mentioned Geschwader participated and each were broken down into three Gruppen at this point designated by roman numerals.  So III/JG54 indicates the third Gruppen of Jagdgeschwader 54.  The Gruppen were further broken down into 3 Staffel of 12 aircraft each, therefore each geschwader had nine staffel indicated by 9./JG54 meaning the ninth staffel of JG54.  So all of the units you have mentioned existed at the battle of Britain. 

Oh ya, I also picked up Adolf Galland's book 'The First and the Last' at the same book store.  It was a happy day!
