Ugh, usually I don't wobble on what to build next, but I can't make up my mind for this GB.  It's either the 1/48 Revell F-15E or 1/48 Hasegawa F-4E (SEA camo!).

Frankly, I'd leaning toward the F-15E as the painting will be easier, but that's just the lazy side in me.

And don't get me started on the ordnance loadout!  Ack!

Can I join this GB please??  :)

I have a 1/72 Hobby Boss A7D Corsair II just dying to be built and painted in S.E.A Camo.

It'll only be built out of the Box, because that's about all my modelling skills will allow, but having just taken a look in the box of this thing, that might not be too bad.  It's akin to marrying above your station in life, when a someone with my so-so skills buys a kit like this. LOL

Anyways, hopefully you fine people will let me come along for the ride.

Chaos, panic, disorder ... my work here is done.

I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for the start date.  :)

It would be nice to see this GB as a on going event. There is a plethora of possiblities. I can think of at least 3 more kits I could add to this build; obviously not in the time frame allotted.

What about torpedo planes Question [?] Evil [}:)]

Heh. Isn't that always the case though? I think I could build permanently just for all of the cool GB ideas around here...shoot, I tailor my stash to try to cover as many GB possibilities as I can already. Laugh [(-D]

Appreciate the thought, but all things must come to an end. Big Smile [:D]  And in my experience, GB's which don't have an end date tend to slowly, painfully, ignomiously die.  I'd rather end it on what I hope will be a high note.  Perhaps a part II later?  Or build really fast and get a couple done! Whistling [:-^]

No torpedoes or anti-ship ordnance.  Notice what I said.  I have no problem with torpedo planes loaded for ground attack, i.e. Avenger.  But not for ship attack.  That may be a slight distinction, but it's one I want to maintain.

I was recently thinking about posting "profiles" of ground attack aircraft just for the heck of it.  It may help for research, ideas and discussion purposes until we start.  That could get tedious, though, particularly for me.  Dunno, just spitballing here.

Now that's what I'm talking about!  Much obliged, Spiral. Thumbs Up [tup]  One of my particular favorites is the Typhoon.  Just a brutal looking aircraft.

I didn't even know the Whirlwind could carry ordnance!  I've learned something!

Hi Arki,

This sounds like a great GB idea! An aviation subject near and dear to me... I'm a former Marine infantryman, and I can personally attest to how awesome it is having friendly aircraft around to do your job for you. Wink [;)]

I have a 1/72 Academy P-47D bubbletop that I was planning to start next month... but I'll just hold off 'til July. I'm not in a huge rush with this one anyway, I have quite a bit of PE for it, and PE and I only get along in small doses, building nice and slow. Especially in this scale. Laugh [(-D]

This one will be carrying bazookas and a pair of 500-pounders... more than enough to wreck someone's day!

I have a question.

Has anyone seen a  1/48 kit for the I-153? If so, can you point me in the direction?

I'm also looking for 1/48 and 1/72 RS-82 rockets; anybody?

Thanks.

raptordriver,

Thanks for posting the links to those great kits. I just might purchase that I-152. I did find the I-153 in 1/72 on ebay. I'm looking for some ordnance now.

Thanks again!

Arki, I'd like in on this one,but would you consider a variance to your "no torpedoes" rule?  I'd like to do an AD-4 Skyraider from the VA-195 torpedo attack on North Korea's Hwachon dam in May, 1951.

Consider:

a. The target was miles from any salt water.

b. The target was immobile, firmly set in bedrock.

c. The target was only wet on one side, and

d. The resultant flooding moved tons of mud down the valley below, which is the whole point of the GB, right?

My current plan is to use the HobbyCraft AD-6 in 1/72, but the kit could change. If my request is denied I can always switch to some other AD with rockets or iron bombs, but this sounded different.

Thanks

Dick

Variance granted.  It's a ground target, not a ship, and thus meets the spirit of the GB if not the exact letter.

I'll put you on the roster shortly. Welcome!

If anyone else has grey areas like this, sell them to me.
