**Official** junior modeller group build thread!

I'll change kit to the Academy F4F-4 Wildcat in 1/72 scale, which I ordered yesterday and should have it this week. Ordered the Panzer I from DML (Smart kit) as well, but I'm saving that one... Might build two, but.. one at a time!

so please change the list :)

My O'Brien's hull was badly warped, so she'll be full hull. The fit is pretty bad, so she's needing alot of sanding. This is gonna be a long week.

Never mind my dozen or so other projects on the bench. 

y.i stated my firefly the other day and i have completed the lower hull.

no ideas for a badge so why not just put a models srue and have young gun group buil '08.

but once again, I don't get the whole 'Junior Modeler' feel from them eh? But it's an idea.

Jagdpanther has an interesting idea though, everybody uses a finished picture of their build as a badge. It's quite easy to add font overtop of it and shrink it down.(in Microsoft Paint etc.) it would make the badges and this GB unique in comparison to all the 'grown up' ones.

 Thoughts?

Huzzah! first pics up! I love stuarts (this is my fifth one i've built if that tells you anything).

this was my first work with extensive scratch building or just plain modifications.  The basket i added will be filled with stuff.  I've got three figures in the works for the dio i'm planing.total, there's probably three stuarts worth of parts in the one in the pics HA. what do you think? The last pic is my fav, it shows off the removed front fenders, and everything in general, really well.

Great scratchbuilding work on your Stuart so far! It looks awesome. I'm assuming it's going to be one used in Normandy? Also from the pics I'm assuming your not using Tamiya's kit tracks? Which is a good thing as they are improperly rendered and wouldn't function on a full sized tank.

TADA!  Final pics are in!  I finished this bad boy in 3 (count 'em!) THREE DAYS!

Sorry the pics are blurry, my camera's battery died.  Townsy: I am using the Tamiya tracks, i disagree with your statement, i found dozens of reference photos for this project, and most had the same, if not similar, tracks.  Thanks for the feed back though (if i had the cash, i'd get some AM tracks)

Okay, add me to the list of flip-floppers. I'd like to change my build to USS Aludra AK-72, same kit, different ship. This will allow me make some changes to the basic kit...I have a tendency to make all my builds unique. Why stop now??

I have a feeling that most of this GB is going to be over real quick....I'm also on oddity (amongst younger modelers that is) in that most of my builds proceed at absolutely glacial paces. I have more than a dozen half-built kits, yet the last time I put one on the display shelf was February!

all those builds are looking sweet! tacobuff, your stuart would look sick if you bought some mig pigments from internethobbies.

no real progress on the firefly today. drummed for too long. i also cleaned my workbench

Very nice stuart and the humvee is doing good.

As for me, I'm done my model but it nothing special or big, its just a tamiya 1/35 scale, its the first model with oil wash and a little friend for my quad truck.

 I will post the photos next post.

Where the badge? it will need to be made on photobucket or get a picture of a kid on a tank enjoying the ride.

Hey TacoBuff,

It's not the tread pattern per say that's incorrect, it's Tamiya's interpretation of how the track blocks are connected. I drew a diagram to try to illustrate my point, but photobucket isn't letting me access my account right now for some reason. Anyway Tamiya molded the track connectors in the centre of each link, but on a real Stuart the connectors are actually conecting the links. (look carefully at the difference between your tracks you're using for stowage and the ones on the running gear.)

The reason I thought you were using AM tracks was because I saw the spare tracks you have mounted as stowage on the Hull, (perhaps leftovers from a AFV Club kit?) and assumed you had purchased an AM set. Sorry, my mistake.

Also, there seems to be something wrong with the front left portion of the tracks where they come in contact with the ground? Like it's twisted to the side or something. But all that aside good work on your Stuart, and awesome for being done in only 3 days!.

And the M996 looks good so far Hellcat man.

ahh, i see now what your saying.  The bit of plastic in the middle that keeps the vinyl tracks together is wrong.  Thanks, didn't know that.  The spare tracks are from Academy's m3 honey stuart (told you i love 'em).  Yeah the tracks are bent a little, i fixed that right after i took the pic...doh.  Do you guys think i should dirty it up with chalk dust, etc?

And hellcat man, the m996 is gonna look great, i can feel it!

hellcat, i believe that sometimes the doog and heavyarty cant help it commenting but all you guys who are out of school are luckey! im not(june25)

Math is killing me, need to studie for the finals exam, I'm worried that I'm doing too much time modeling (or maybe I'm losing too many brain cells from all that paint).

I'm the 23rd, sadly. Two days before my birthday.

I have almost finished Aludra's hull. As per usual, upper to lower hull fit was god-awful, it took alot of sanding to get her all cleaned up and ready for paint. I'm over 90% of the work now and she's primed. Pics to come soon. 

I get out on the 12th!

My KT is going good I've gotsted 2 days of work in so far the tret asembaly is done and laower hull needs 2 more parts.

Wow! I feel sorry for all off you, getting out of school so late! I got out on may 28th!

Ha! Beat you raptordriver I got out may 27th!  It's been pure bliss, cause lets face it, junior year of high school sucks.  And T-Rex, it's not the paint fumes, it's the glue that gets yeah. 

Good luck with finals to all of you.  looking forward to you all getting out of school so others can join the finished model club.
