Thanks Charles, I figured the Alclad is so thin that I should have no paint ridge at the Blk demarcation line.  Should get some yellow on tonight.

Well here is my interior, these kits don't have a ton of detail inside but once they are closed up you can't see too much anyway.

Looks good Aaron.  Nice job.

I got the suspension bits on the Sherman.  I really don't like this Dragon kit-attachment points are very suspect and the alignment of the road wheels is 'iffy' at best.  I'll probably attemt to build a run of links this coming weekend and see if it is worth continuing or just cut my losses and wait until the next Forgotten War GB and pick a more 'user friendly' kit.

I seriously doubt I'll finish in the next three days. I'm still waiting for my canopy masks to arrive, they were out of stock for ages and though they've been in the mail 9 days now I doubt they'll arrive in time to make a difference. It turns out Tamiya XF-1 has quite enough lustre to do for the AG panel, and I'd be able to complete that part in a trice if the canopy was masked...

It's also 114 degrees here today, and the heatwave has really got in the way of benchtime. I'll still post the pics as she comes to completion but I won't be looking for a badge -- I'll probably build AFV's Walker Bulldog for the next Korea GB and score a badge that time!

You know, there are enough people earnestly working on their projects for this GB, so I am going to extend another month. It's not like people are just joining...there is some really good WIP out there and I'd hate to either rush a good build, or take the wind out of the sails. Besides, this isn't for money or competition...it's for fun and getting together as a group.

Mucker-thanks for the extension, but the Sherman is DOA .  I reviewed the alignment of the road wheels and they aren't salvageable-at least not by me.  Had I known then what I know now, I would have drilled some alignment holes to assist.  Chalk one up for experience.  Unfortunatly, I don't have anything else in the stash that I can use for this GB.

I will continue to drop in and admire the quality of work being produced by the group.  And I will be adding some Korean War era planes and/or armor to my stash in anticipation of the next time this topic comes up.

Hi Mucker -- many thanks for the extension (flexible deadlines are a luxury in life!) Phew! Now I'm positive I can get my badge, especially as the good news is Squadron just delivered, the canopy masks for both Mustang and Corsair have arrived. The heatwave marches on, last night we had our record 'low' of 33.9C/94F...

As you're enjoying the heat wave, Mike, I was digging myself out of 12 inches of snow. It was like the winter campaign in Korea....

Thanks for the additional time, I could have probably snuck the H-19 under the wire, but it would have been a rush job. I ran across a good photo of a USMC H-19 from 1953 like the one Italeri has decals for, it gave a me a few ideas. With the extra time I'm using the photo to guide me on painting instead of following the Italeri instructions completely. Similar but a little more interesting than the paint scheme in the kit.

Extension? umm... I may re-open the Bulldog box and re-start, also got the AFV links (this is the old Tamiya offering). Will post some pics soon, may give it a shot. (Dont worry Dupes, 251 still on sched! )

Ok, didn't get these posted last night, instead I spent several hours cutting a lady out of her car. The lady should be ok in a few months but her car is in little pieces, the tree she hit should be fine though.

Based on the instructions this would just be blue, but I saw a pic of another USMC H-19 with these red markings and really liked it. Probably did a bit more flying over water or maybe just hadn't been repainted yet after arriving in Korea.

Jmart-thanks.  The Sherman build just wasn't fun.  Maybe more time/more skills would have helped, but time to move on.  I am looking foreward to seeing your Bulldog.

Aaron-the helo is looking good.  Keep the pics coming.

That's a sweet looking Sabre you've got going there!  Doing all of the masking is tedious but the results make it worth it!

No problem, Steve. I'm happy to see so many people with the intent to complete their builds (time allowing). I'm looking forward to seeing the pics, too.

As I continue to read up on the Korean War, I've noticed the vast contract between the air and the ground war. After we introduced the Sabre (post-A variat), it seems like the U.S. had complete control of the skies. On the ground the Chinese and DPRK forces were so overwhelming on the ground, coupled with the conditions, that it was really brutal for our troops.

I've finally managed to spend some time on the Mustang, having cleared a deadlined model yesterday. Here I've attached the canopy, then applied the Express Mask set, and filled in the main caopy with Tamiya tape:

Next up will be XF-1 flat black for the AG panel and windscreen frame. The prop blades are painted, I used satin black but the lustre was just too high. I overcoated them with XF-1 to cut it back, and though research suggests Mustangs had a satin AG panel, the conditions in Korea knocked back the shine pretty fast.

Mucker-I'm back in.  I picked up the 1/48 Revell AT-6/SNJ Texan kit today @ my LHS.  I can't believe the detail for $12.99.  I may have to add another one to the stash.  Looks like a quick build.....I hope.  Also I ordered the 'Texans over Korea Pt.1 ' decal sheet from Squadron, so hopefully they will be here in time.  After spending some time researching the Texan in Korea, it seems that the T-6 was called the 'Mosquito' and used as a Forward Air Command plane. 

This is great news Bob. I love the Texan and can't wait for some progress.

I had a lot of problems with my AeroMaster decals for the Sabre. They wanted to wrinkle badly over the Alclad and didn't want to stick. I've had to make a slew of repairs but I'm applying a wash tonight.
