Is it too late to get in on this group build ? I have a barely started P 47 &  I want to   redeem  myself for not being able to get one done for the  P47 group build .

A ghost squadron would be mighty impressive.

Frank, you are welcome to enter your P-47 into this GB.  How far along are you with it?  Which kit is it?  What scale?

What's scary is I just found pieces of an A-26 and wondered where they came from! Shock [:O]

Steven,

Did you and Big Smitty buy lottery tickets today?  A&M wins and Tech beats TU in what looked like online to be one heck of a game.

Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup] Big Smile [:D]

It only cost me my next born, but with the Ag's dismal Big 12 record, and the fact that TU was set to run the table, it was a fair deal.

Tech did the world a huge favor tonight in disallowing more entitlement mentality to build in Austin.  A&M winning was just icing on the cake.  Now I have to go take a shower because I can't stand that I actually had to root FOR Texas Tech.

OK... I'm thoroughly browned-off about this...  My A-26B has disappeared completely from my apartment... Dunno how, why, or what, but it's forcing me to bail out of the planned build(s)... I have a second A 26 kit in the hangar, but I don't think I'll start it to replace the planned A-26.  I think there's a message in this somewhere...

Aggieman, I'm now officially on the A-24 Banshee build and the A-24 Banshee only.. Scratch the Invader and the B-24...  If THAT one vanishes, I'm gonna kill something...

You lost an A-26? How exactly does one do that?  Sorry I should not poke fun at this loss.

Sorta...Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg] I'm thinkin' that it may have inadvertantly been placed in a box of stuff that went to Goodwill...  Which is even funnier since I'm the one that transported the box to 'em...  I've been totin' that model around in my stash for the last 15 years... Then I finally decided to build it and...Banged Head [banghead]

Evidently the Aggies good fortunes of the past two weekends have NOT worn off on me.  I finally got around to opening up the "sealed" kit of the A-20G from the online auction site that shall not be named.  NO clear pieces...and NO twin .50s for the top.  Not that it matters, since there's no FREAKING CLEAR PIECES in the kit.  And I went and got some cool SuperScale Decals for it this weekend and everything.

I gotta switch my build, Steven.  Put me in for the Tamiya 1/72 P-47D Razorback, "Sleepy Time Gal", 5th AF, 58th FG.  I was putzing around with here for the last couple of weeks while finishing up my Challenger I for the Gulf Wars GB.  I have a semi-build photo log here:

http://photos.mattsworld.org/GalleryThumbnails.aspx?gallery=135107

Right now, she's letting the second coat of Future dry and then it's decal time.  Sorry for having to switch the build.  Right now, the A-20's on hold until I figure out how to get some pieces to an OOP kit without buying a new one.

Well... the kit markings DO have a skull and crossbones on 'em.  Serves me right, I sold my old kit like this that I bought brand new, with the True Details wheels/life raft set.  It's karma, man...simple as that.

Dunno about "A-20 Curse"... Might be the "Douglas Curse"... His A-20, my A-26, and now I find that my SBD (A-24) is missing the cockpit tub!  Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over?  Anyway, I can get around it, I reckon...

On another note- Hey Smitty... I might be able to help you out.. I have the 1/48 A-20G from AMT-Ertl if that's the kit you're building... I may be able to vac-form you some clear parts... And I think (not sure, have to look) I may have the fifties from a previous build of that kit as well.. I never throw away guns from trashed models...

Hans,

Thanks for the offer.  I'll give it a couple days from AMT and see if I can get 'em from them first.  All the 1/48 armor kits I have, I might just snag a couple of the .50s and link 'em up with some styrene rod (it runs underneath the ammo cans).  Otherwise ya might see an inbound PM from your neighbor to the north.

Good luck, but I think that AMT/Ertl quit stocking parts long ago...  Not even sure if the Dyersville plant is operating anymore, course I ain't been to Dyersville for years.. RC2 is the parent company of AMT/Ertl, located in Dyersville, Iowa... Might wanna give 'em a call..

Here's the 'Jug, waiting for the sealing coat to cure before getting her a little dirty...

Still have the canopy to paint...probably shouldn't have taken the liquid mask off, but that stuff SUCKS if you leave it on too long...

Curious... You sealed it in a gloss coat rather than flat... That becasue you're gonna apply washes first?

Correct, only just doing some panel lines and recessed areas.  That was the main reason for the gloss coat.

Here's "Sleepy Time Gal" finished...with the exception of a final dull coat:

The wash I initially applied was the "Promodeller's Wash".  Was a bit too gray in the panel lines...so I went back over with some sludge wash.  Small issue, I think the first wash (when I wiped it after letting it dry) took off some of the top layer of the gloss coat as I couldn't get the excess removed from the sludge wash.  Sooo, I had to overspray with some XF-51 Khaki Drab to get a little "dusty" effect.  Also had to add a 1/48 P-51 USAAF decal on the left wing as the initial kit decal was ruined by the sludge wash.  Live and learn I guess.  This is the first aircraft model completed since a 1/72 Hasegawa A-7D ANG bird I did in high school in 1987.

On a side note, I found a pair of 1/48 .50cal MGs from the Academy  F-86 "MiG Killer" kit in my spares.  I think I can use those to piece together the twin .50 mount for the A-20.  So I may end up piecemealing that one together.  Or I might just wait for another GB for it.

Nice work.  The only question I have is, is it missing the pitot tube?  There appears to be an opening along the leading edge of the port-side wing.
