Build Complete: #11 Tamiya Chevy 30 CWT LRDG Truck (Scorpion Conversion) WIP

THis is really turning into your magnum opus, Edmund.  You seem to be developing your skills at an alarming rate, always intentionally pushing yourself ahead of your comfort zone.  THe multiple levels of attention to detail and your careful, thoughtful planning and execution are realy a sight and an inspiration for me to try new techniques and to treat every build as if every step is critical.

Build Update:

Here is a few shots of the resin PSP's painted and weathered up. Thanks so much for sending those out Bob in your Christmas card it's the best gift I have ever gotten!  Resin  parts are the Holy Grail of Christmas Presents and head and shoulders above the kit included part.  I wanted to simulate all the wear and tear these would have gone through with rocks and sand and steel rubbing on rubber.  I used a new paint line I picked up yesterday Citadel Color Bolt gun Metal for dry brushing underneath the Hair Spray coat and over the top after a few Burnt Umber oil washes.

I then went to town on the chassis and here are some shots of that.  Next on the agenda is wheels!!

Thank you Bill, Adam, Wayne, Stephen, and Nate for your support and kind words.  I am glad you guys like the interior.  I am really jazzed about this one!  I have slowed down so I can enjoy weaving the Painting and Weathering Tapestry!!

The detail work on the interior is looking good Edmund...don't let a little thing like the holidays slow you down...I expect this one to be done before year's end!

Build Update:  Interior

I am painting and weathering this in sub components so I can eat my elephant one spoonful at a time.  I concentrated on the interior this evening.  I am not aware of any decal kits for the instrument panel so I had to approach it creatively.  Thank Goodness for Future!  After some exhausting research I could not find one reference picture for the real McCoy interior.  I did find some really nice model pictures and one replica that I liked so I had to rely on some imagination and common sense.

I have not added any pigments yet due to the fact I usually wait until the very end as I am placing on a base so I can blend everything in nicely.

Build Update:

I have been busy working on weapons this weekend and Thanks to Adam's reference tips I made my first slings out of the foil in my wifes Yogurt.

i received your Christmas card with the resin PSP panels in it!  What a great Christmas card.  I think all Christmas cards should have resin parts in it how cool would that be!!

Question:

The molded Tamiya part is supposed two represent two panels and it is simply  not up to Snuff.  My question is do you guys think I can get away using these even though they are wider especially if I nip off the slotted channel on each side of the PSP?   What do you guys think?

Yes I know I needed to get out of Policework when one day I made a comment to my Mentor that I thought I was doing okay because I was only hitting people on the job!!  My Mentor told me it was time to raise the bar and I left the force that year and haven't looked back.  I like models becasue they don't lie to me or try to kill me it's refreshing!

Build Update:  I wanted to use Elf Productions Headlights for the Chevy because they are such a prominent feature and Mr. Tamiya didn't do me any favors with the plastic blobs in the kit.  I tried to use Model Master Clear Parts Cement & Window Maker but it ws frustrating because it is not very tacky and takes an hour to set up according to the directions.  I then got the ideal to use a little Future which solved th issue without clouding the lenses. Thanks for the tip today to use Tamiya Clear Adam I picked some up just in case the Future doesn't;t hold up to the weathering.

Ok, it's not just that "nutball with a .223" picture, There is the end of Dirty Harry's .44,   Me and my .50 -packing jeep and you giving "the look"(whatever that is). It's a rightout American Invasion of Briain going on there! Don't you wonder what they're thinking of it?
