Thanks again guys , i really appreciate the feedback . It keeps me going .Yes

Bill , Future is great ! I'm doing more weathering with chalks right now . The matt finish from the Future / Tamiya flat base is holding up well .

Gamera i wont be putting the dozer blade back on until at the very last . It should really change the appearance of the whole model . Weathering the blade will be a new challenge .

Rob, yes , i decided it was time to remove the paper skirt ! LOL

Andy , this little Shermie has a ways to go yet .Thanks for the brews .Beer

Carl, love the weathering you've got going there, subtle and to me very realistic looking. Cool

Me AWOL? Indifferent  Never!  Just having a very busy month. Our friend John (ogrejohn) and I went to AMPS Auburn yesterday and we saw many Sherman tanks.  What we found this to be unusual... there were more Allied armored builds than the Germans.

You going to put periscope guards on the turret? Outstanding work, can’t wait to see more. Keep up the good work.

This is really coming together beautifully! Did you add a little more highlight? It looks as if you did and it looks just right to me. Like the green shade you have, not so much of a drab color. The USMC vehicles had that more green tone to it and you really captured that. More please Beer

Major General , i havent put guards on the periscopes because i wasnt sure about their application in the Pacific theater on this USMC M4. Any info on that i'd be more than happy to learn more . Thanks Yes

Rob , a few things i did changd the highlights . I went over the model again with a third dry brushing . I've been using Model Master Neutral Gray , FS 36270 , for the dry brushing . Straight out of the jar . This is the first model i tried using neutral gray on for dry brushing and i'm liking the effect .

About the green . I mixed M M Olive Drab and Olive Green on this model . I was after that USMC green you refered to . The green looks greener in the latest pics due to me changing my photo box lighting and the setting on my camera . I was using a 500 watt bulb (remember my Panzer melt ?) on the pics for this build . I switched to a regular 100 watt tungsten bulb for the latest pics . That seems to bring out more of the subtle color . On the camera i switched to the tunsten lighting setting . That seems to bring out more of the green hues , with my camera and set up any way .

Thats about it my friend . Thanks for following this build Rob .Yes

Thanks for that detailed explanation Yes  Using those techniques the results look great!  I too usually use grays for dry brushing and believe dry brushing is a very important step in the finishing process.  That Neutral Gray worked wonderfully on your green mixture.  Speaking of your green mixture, I wrote it down and may try it out on my next Pacific build, Thanks Beer

The last set of pics does show a lot more different hues and good to hear you have figured the camera lighting situation out.  Your new set up sounds much safer then a 500 watt bulb.  "Panzer melt"...... almost sounds like a tasty meal but it is defiantly not one I want to see again.

Was looking through some books and found only 1 USMC Sherman so far that had the wire/bar type guard on the periscopes.  Have found several with this solid type though.

Hope that helps with any decisions you may make.  Cant help following along with your build, it's to good to miss my friend Cool
