Been working on the Zil but i dont have any update pics for ya . After i looked at this picture i realized the left front wheel had the tire mounted backwards . On this truck the tread is directional . The pointy end of the "V" in the tread pattern should be down at the front of the tire .

So i turned her over and pried the the tire off of the rim ..............so how did that go you ask ? I only broke the steering tie rod and one of the air brake cylinders ...........Embarrassed I maintained my cool and fixed everthing and have the tire remouted correctly now .

But............i was looking at the paint job and decided to redo it ..........Whistling.............the weathering is to dark on some parts and i dont like it so i am in the process of repainting it now .Oh well , like Andy said i'm anal on details ( dont know if i like the sound of that ?) but heck , arent we all ?

Amazing work Carl, simply amazing, some photos I honestly had to double check to be sure it was a model I was looking at, the chassis in its weathered state is mind blowing realistic.

Remember when i did some scratch work under the hood ? It looked like this ...................

After i looked at some pictures of the actual vehicle again .....................

I decided to remove everything and then glued the upper cab to the lower cab. NO ! I wasnt trying to keep the cab warm with the rag ..........Stick out tongue..........I wrapped it to protect the new paint job .Idea

This leaves a seam across the firewall and down the sides .

The seam across the firewall is ok ,  its on the the actual vehicle , but the seams down the sides of the firewall are not on the actual vehicle . I filled those with c.a, and sanded smooth .

Then i scribed the seam into the edges of the firewall to match the molded seam on the cab sides , just as it is on the actual vehicle .

Then i added some new under hood details .

Tonight i shot a coat of paint and Future . I left the under hood area a little darker green to differentiate the weathered color of the paint . I also removed the two  braces that run from the lower firewall sides to the lower radiator frame . i do not see them on the actual vehicle .

See you tomorrow .

especially like  the rubber gasket.

--Uh did you notice the heater control knob is pulled out?  never mind it must be because you havent finished the engine instal.

That it does.  That's how I thought you were painting just wanted to ask to clarify because I really liked the result Yes  I have never used Plastic Polish before, sounds and looks like something worth having.

Thanks for the explanation my friend Yes

PANZERWAFFE

That is a NICE view ! Beer  Did you future the widow first, it is really clear?  Looks great.  The cab's paint job is very impressive....REALLY LIKE it Beer  Are you mixing MM flat white with the Armor Green?

Aye Rob .Yes

On the window i polished the clear plastic with Plastic Polish by Bare  - Metal . I did not Future it though . I want to show it dusty so i will be putting something over it to dull it . About the paint i'm probably complicating the process but hey , it works for me . First i'm spraying MM enamel Russian Armor . Then i go over that with MM Russian Armor cut with MM Flat White and spray that mixture for a faded paint look .  Then i seal that with Burnt Umber oils ....this cuts down the brightness of the green . Finally i over spray it all with a mix of Future / Tamiya Flat Base .

Hope that s'plains it my friend .

I know its late back east but out here its still early and i just finished up for todays update . Whistling

Here's the cab with a wash of burnt umber oils ..

This is the rear window . I used a Sharpie to draw in the black rubber gasket . It was easy to do since there is a ridge around the perimeter on the inside . The black hides the Krystal Kleer glue on the inside .

And a look thru the rear window at the dash .A coat of mat finish has dulled the finish .

Same view with face against the glass ..................Stick out tongue
