hehehehe............(look around suspeciously)........... hehehehehe
For the Normandy GB, I was going to do a wingy thingy..... a 1/72 P-47..... shot down by a wirblwind! hehehehe! Does that count? O please, O please, O please! Battle damage (from bad guys, not weather) is alot easier on a/c than it is on tanks...... do you get where I'm going with this...... maybe, all a/c build in the armor forum should be...... well, lets say..... "slightly used".

This is indeed crazy, but a good kind of crazy. Whine, whine, it's just that there are so many builds going on. My P-47 heard all the commotion and now it's begging to be built. Stop, stop, I say! What's a poor treadhead to do?Yah, I know, get off my lazy Censored [censored] and get building. Oh......if it were just that easy. Disapprove [V]

Flyboy 1 reporting: I see a possible target, going in! Seriously guys, I think it's a great idea and I would like to torment myself with endless repetition of painting roadwheels and cleaning up tracklinks, so count me in.Banged Head [banghead] One thing that's pretty important to me is the timeframe you guys have in mind. Right now I'm kinda committed to a few very nice projects with wings, so it might be a little while befor the rustbucket is finished.Big Smile [:D] I might do an M3 Lee or something german... dunno yet... requests?(I'm going to regret that I'm sure)
Armormaster, shame on you for referring to yourself as an OKAY flyboy modeler! You rule and you know it, lol!Cool [8D]

LOL.... I have students like you Awasoda!! Sign - With Stupid [#wstupid] Wink [;)]

OK-- as a flyboy, this might be my official entry into the insanity of armor-- but before I go buying kits, it might be best to ask some questions.

1. For those of us switching to the dark side (at least temporarily)- what is an acceptable build here? Are we talking tanks only, or anything on the ground?? I have a 1/35 scale Tamiya Jeep and an Italeri (I think?) Katyusha, but if we are to build tanks only, it would be good to know.

2. If tanks only-- maybe some recommendations as to what are some good choices for what may be for some of us our first tank? I am inclined towards the Allied side obviously, so like what are the better Sherman tank kits, or Matildas, etc.... and if you guys want advice on what are the better kits for certain aircraft and the like....just as an idea. Not saying I am not up for a challenge, but I don't want to start out with a expert kit that I can't finish. Some communication between us wouldn't be so bad, eh?

Jeeves:
Sign - Welcome [#welcome] 2 our world of mud, dirt, dust, sand & grime ! Big Smile [:D]
i'll have 2 let the thread masters tell u whether the wheeled vehicles r in or not...
as far as tanks go, the 1/35 Tamiya T34 (Russian) usually gets a mention as an easy 1st build... it was featured in the FSM 'build a tank in a weekend' article
haven't built that one myself , tho...
u could also try the Tamiya M41 Walker Bulldog or their Stuart
(built the Bulldog & am working on the Stuart)
both these kits r fairly simple builds w/ good fit & decent detail OOB
& have rubber band trax, so u can avoid the dreaded indy linx
the Bulldog & Stuart r about $15 bux retail, so they wont break the piggy bank
the T-34 is just a wee bit pricier, but its sloped armor will probably appeal
2 ur aerodynamic sense of aesthetics & it is considered 2 b one of the best
tank designs of WW ii (hey, after their 1st encounter w/ the T34, the Germans
rethought their whole tank program & came up w/ the Panther !)
altho' Shermans r cool too, i'll leave any suggestions in that department
2 more knowledgeable folk (like Shermanfreak !)
HTH,

actually they should be used 2 last-minute briefings...
"Your target for today will be the ball-bearing factories

that's the difference between moving at 300 mph & 30 mph

& don't forget 2 scrub the GB start a couple of times
due 2 inclement weather over the target... Wink [;)]Big Smile [:D]
just 2 get the rite feel going !
(sorry, i watch 2 many old movies)

BTW, i guess i'm in... got a couple of the wingy things on the stack &
have been dabbling in 1/72 a/c w/ snaptite kits w/ my little bro'
4 awhile now...
i think this will b a good chance 2 learn some new techniques
from each other; a/c r very different builds from tanks, 4 sure !

when would this build start. i am tentalively in. i would love to build a tiger 1. and darkside think of me as an all around guy. i love a/c and i think i am going to love to do armor also. throw in the occasional auto and the love of sci fi kits (havent built on in many many years imperial walker) and i think i am just an all around type of guy.

Jeeves if you like Allied armor, may I suggest Tamiya's Early Sherman or perhaps their final version. Easy build all around. No camoflauge, small number of wheels to paint. Rubber band tracks also. Tamiya quality.

Ok i have come up with some approximate guidlines. Let me know what you think, thuis is my first time leadign a group build.
Date still pending, later july early august?
1. People in the armor forum build a/c, while people in the a/c forum build armor. This can be anyhting from a tank to a half track to an armor car, however I would rather not see so many kubels or jeeps just beause i think you would have more funwith the previous.
2. After market stuff is fine, however not manditory.
3. NO diorama's, not that i have anyhting against them but I would not want the actual model looked over by awesome landscape, however a display base is fine, you may put the a/c on a tarminak(sp?0 and the armor on ground, jsut not with a lot of action. (IF this causes any problems we will discuss it.)
4. Trash talking..................................is awesome but please keep it clean and dont make anyone cry.
5. Please note this rule has changed, we may ask for help from the other forums
6. Have fun

Any sugestions are welcome, and i will need help making a bage and hosting picutres.
Thank you, and let me know what you think.

Good plan so far Awasoda.
I would say early August, remember that many of us are in the mad tiger day build on August 8th.

Just let me know when we start, and I'll be ready.

Hmm... what exactly is the name of the Sherman Snorkel tanks that came up on the Normandy beaches?? That might be interesting...especially if Tamiya makes them...

Not sure of the name, but tamiya doesn't make them. you have to buy an italeri kit and then buy the correct, i think M4A3?

This could be very interesting with not getting any help from the other side. Kind of like those skits where someone stands behind a person and uses thier arms to do stuff and not being able to see. Anytime is good for me for a start date. The kit I have has very few pieces so should not be to hard.
