...OK-- as a flyboy, this might be my official entry into the insanity of armor-- but before I go buying kits, it might be best to ask some questions.
1. For those of us switching to the dark side (at least temporarily)- what is an acceptable build here? Are we talking tanks only, or anything on the ground?? I have a 1/35 scale Tamiya Jeep and an Italeri (I think?) Katyusha, but if we are to build tanks only, it would be good to know.
2. If tanks only-- maybe some recommendations as to what are some good choices for what may be for some of us our first tank? I am inclined towards the Allied side obviously, so like what are the better Sherman tank kits, or Matildas, etc.... and if you guys want advice on what are the better kits for certain aircraft and the like....just as an idea. Not saying I am not up for a challenge, but I don't want to start out with a expert kit that I can't finish. Some communication between us wouldn't be so bad, eh?

Jeeves:
2 our world of mud, dirt, dust, sand & grime !
i'll have 2 let the thread masters tell u whether the wheeled vehicles r in or not...
as far as tanks go, the 1/35 Tamiya T34 (Russian) usually gets a mention as an easy 1st build... it was featured in the FSM 'build a tank in a weekend' article
haven't built that one myself , tho...
u could also try the Tamiya M41 Walker Bulldog or their Stuart
(built the Bulldog & am working on the Stuart)
both these kits r fairly simple builds w/ good fit & decent detail OOB
& have rubber band trax, so u can avoid the dreaded indy linx
the Bulldog & Stuart r about $15 bux retail, so they wont break the piggy bank
the T-34 is just a wee bit pricier, but its sloped armor will probably appeal
2 ur aerodynamic sense of aesthetics & it is considered 2 b one of the best
tank designs of WW ii (hey, after their 1st encounter w/ the T34, the Germans
rethought their whole tank program & came up w/ the Panther !)
altho' Shermans r cool too, i'll leave any suggestions in that department
2 more knowledgeable folk (like Shermanfreak !)
