I've never heard a King roar, or purr or even cough, for that matter. But I'm open to letting you prove it to me. Understand, this in no way means I'd put a wingy thingy higher on my build list. I really like building all of them, but armor still wins out in the end for me.

as 4 me, i'm having trouble deciding what 2 build 4 this one,
but i've narrowed the choice down 2 a couple of 1/72 birds:
Hasegawa Zero or Academy Bronco (a very unusal looking plane).
the Zero would b a good chance 2 try out salt weathering,
& the Bronco is just cool, so i can't decide yet.

I'll tell ya what Frosty....I'll make you a deal. You pick out a 1/35 Tamiya tank intermediate type of a build, and I will get it....BUT, you have to build a 1/48 plane. 1/72 just ain't enough plane for anyone....they look like little hotwheels.Tongue [:P]Wink [;)]Big Smile [:D]

The reason I picked up the Amphib was because it looked unique....and I already had it in my stash. Unfortunately, I'm not trained in tanks, and I get confused with the differences.....I know that's a horrible thing to say, but it's true.

Also Tamiya has a few Japanese fighters in 1/48 for around $12.00-$15.00 that are perfect to try out that salt weathering technique. AND if you find a decent Bronco, I have a photo file on my computer of personal pics of a CDF (California Department of Forestry) Bronco that I was working on at the time....and I'm sure it wouldn't be too big of a deal to grab ya some specialized pics of certain details you may need to help ya along your build.

You pick the tank that will be a challenge, but not make me hate you, I'll buy it right now. And I'll help ya with your project so that you don't hate me!!! LOL

Now is that a sweet deal, or what?!

Bill, there was a thread many moons ago with some footage and sound of a Kingtiger. I believe there is one running and in France. It was pretty cool. Maybe Jon knows of it or even provided the link. Jon, where are you?

I believe Tamiya's English site has that with the movies of their Tiger I in action.

Hello heavy rolly polly builders Big Smile [:D]. Just checking in with ya. I read a bit about the fuselage seam (thats the place where the cockpit and gas goes, most of the time anyways) and the wingroot I believe (where the wings hook on). Heres a little advice for ya, free of charge...so far. Put masking tape on either side of the offending seam, just a tad wider then the seam. Now find something you can trowl with, I use a popsickle stick cut with scissors and trowl in the filler. If it is Squadron white putty take a q-tip with nail-polish remover, the aceton kind and smoth the fresh putty in the seam. remove the tape (because you cant sand the masking tape) and when the putty is dry sand it to perfection, because a plane, any plane deserves nothing less then perfection Cool [8D].
Remember tank tracks are no substitute for REAL wheels.

Ohhhhh, the wheels on the bus go round, round, round...round, round, round...round, round, round. The wheels on the bus go round, round, round, all through the town!

The tracks on the tank go munch, munch, crunch...munch, munch, crunch...munch, munch, crunch. The tracks on the tank go munch, munch, crunch, right through the plane!!

ooo-ahhh

Looks like my build has changed. I was wanting to do something more challenging any anyway and a guy at work today gave me a 1/48 dauntless that someone gave his kid but he thought was a bit to much for him. Must say the instructions are pretty impressive. Since I know basically nothing about plane kits , how good are kits from accurate miniatures? Looks to be ok.

The accurate minitrures are great kits, they are very similar to tamiya in all ways. I do beleive I have that kit. Kit #3412?

Awasoda...

Things are progressing well...once you get a start date ironed out, I'll post my list here...there are still some who are undecided as to what to build..

Bill. I didn't know you wrote top 10 tunes?

This is getting brutally scary, I'm not sure it's safe. LOL Chris, you missed all the drooling over the Accurate Miniatures Dauntless a page or 2 back. Have fun with it. It will be interesting to see what you can do with a target, er plane. Clown [:o)]

That kit is a beauty. I have it now and can tell ya from experience I gained a long time ago, just looking in the box it will be a good build.

Ok this is where I ask you guys (and gal). I like Tigers, for rolly pollies they look cool plus that 88 they have...scary. Anyhoo, I never seen the inside of a tank kit let alone built one. So that will be my tank for this.... this is where you all rolly in, for a first timer with building expeirence, which Kit would have the concensus for ease of build of this type but give me a good level of detail.

Big or little Woodbeck?

Academy and Tamiya make nice Tiger 1's. Tamiya's would probably be easier, (by reputation) to build, but Academy offer two models with complete interiors. (Lots of bits!)

I hear Revell have the edge if you want a 1/72 Jobby.

There are also nice Tiger II's from Tamiya and Dragon, and lots of littlies too.

I was hoping to do a 1:32 Fiesler Storch, but now I am not sure. I left my comfort zone in the LHS today and went wingy watching.(I even looked at some ships!) The Storch stared at me and said "You can't handle me, son, I will mess you up."

So I looked at some tiny boxes with little fighters in them.

Can anyone recommend a nice affordable not too hard twin engined WW2 1/72 kit?
Any nation. Or a nice Stuka kit? Or German jet?

We almost had a mini group build going here. As I mentioned, my wife gave me this kit #3412 a few years back as a gift. I never built it.
Just dug it out and opened the dust covered box, no instuctions which would be no problem, a little deeper inspection and there's no bottom to the wings. I think that will hinder the ultimate look, right?Wink [;)]
Back on to the 109.

ausf: did you totally unpack the box?? Accurate Minitures kit boxes have a "false bottom, or shelf, under which they pack the decals, clear parts, and instructions. With an AM kit, not having the instructions probably WOULD be a big problem. If the bottom of the wings really are missing, I don't know what to tell you, other than check AM's web site and send them a message. 3412 is the SBD-3 kit. Not lots of difference between the 3 and the 5. I've never heard anything bad about AM kits. The one caveat I've always heard, though, is to follow the order of the directions. With most kits, lots of modelers skip around in the sequence order. AM builders don't recommend this. I'll see if I can find one of the build articles about their kits.

Chris: I was going to ask you which SBD kit you have, but you answered it already. The

Here's a link I found on building the SBD-3 (not the one I was looking for, but...)

Ah, here's what I was looking for:

Good luck, Chris. Looking forward to whatever you build!

Thanks Bill,
I meant not having the instructions not being a problem because there would be a few building this kit and I could grab some insight (Although it would be from fellow Darksiders).
The wing bottom is around somewhere, I opened the kit some time back to use as a template for paper airplanes my son and I were attempting. It'll turn up, when I don't need it.

Thanks for the link Bill. This one should definatly be a learning process. I kind of wish they made armor kit instructions like these. Really informational on what the parts are called instead of just saying where they go. Do believe though it is going to be OOB for sure, would rather spend the money on detail sets to spruce up an armor model more.
