I've made a little more progress on my 1:1,000th scale Daedalus Class. You can see photos here: http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=6756598&uid=3298033

Captain Mills: Nice work on the Amarillo! That orbital composite is especially nice.
Sergeev: Daedalus looks good too.

Jimmy andKevlar: Group builds take place whenever anyone wants to start one. This one was officially over in June but still seems to be limping along.

LIMPING??!! Harumph.... I've actually done some more work on the Chowder. Warp pods are looking good, the booms and humps are waiting for some 60 second epoxy, or at least the time to go get some, and the hull parts are looing better. Well, limping might describe my progress best, but I'm not dead yet.

I hope it isn't limping along. I keep having trouble ordering my materials. My LHS could not find some of the cat# so instead of ordering the ones he could he did not place the order or give me a call that something was a miss. He has the internet right there in the store but instead of him ordering from Plastruct, I have to do it. Some LSH just won't go that extra mile! I figure maybe by Christmas I just might actually be able to build the Daedalus Class. Has any one thought about doing the DY-100 Botany Bay? Looks pretty easy to do. Looks can be decieving.

Maybe we could change from a GB to a workshop. "The Starfleet Museum Modeling Workshop"? Anyone could jump in with a project anytime they want.Big Smile [:D] Seriously I'm sorry for my apparent lack of productivity. I have been working long hours at work, trying to spruce up the nest for the baby, the passing of my Grandfather, and Monday my Mother-in-Law had a heart attack. I feel like I should be leading by example but one thing after another seems to bog down my efforts.Disapprove [V]

Don't fret about this Woody. You've got a lot to deal with and I'm sorry to hear about your Mother in law. She's alright I hope. And of course babies take priorityBig Smile [:D]

Hey with all the cool subjects in the Museum it would make for a great workshop. I could actualy finish the TaurusTongue [:P]

The "Workshop" idea dounds great, Woody. It would take the pressure off all of us to run against a deadline and let people join as they want to.

Sorry to hear about your mother in law, Woody.

The deadline has come and gone, so nobody need worrry about it any longer. Build when you can or when you want to. Everyone's welcome anytime.

Thanks for the well wishes for Maxine, my Mother-in-Law. She has to have a triple bypass today at noon. It has to be done but she is not in good shape.

I like the Workshop idea! I will be actually starting my project some time next week. Woody, sorry to the bad (Grandfather passing and Mother-in-law's heart attack) and the good (baby coming). I enjoy seeing and get ideas from everyone.

I could go for the Workshop idea as well.

My Klingon has been sitting here for over a month daring me to do something!
But my Muse has been silent lately. Dead [xx(]

I am 95% done. Just having a brain fart about the niggly little details...

Masao & Everyone Else

I just thought I'd ask you folks if you thought it'd be ok if I posted this on my website. I've done a few buildups (in the style of SSM's pages) and just thought I'd ask you if the content was ok with you.

I thought I'd share the link with you and ask you if there's anything you would add/remove or change, or what you think of the buildup in general.

If anyone else wants to create a buildup like this and don't want to bother John Lester, just send me an email & we'll talk about it. I love John Lester, his site, and everything, but I just found it easier to host my buildups on my own website and place links to them all over...

Nice job! Doing the UN globes in blue instead of white actually makes them possible. I was finally able to do some work on my Chowder this weekend- I actually had a weekend (!). The warp beans were attached to some aluminum tube pylons, the impulse drive throat was drilled out, and the stub wings attached. I'm even thinking about decals. The Klingon text from the Polar Lights D-7 might be able to masquerade as Romulan with a little trimming, but I'm open to other options.

Thanks guys, I was worried about some copyright & permissions stuff, since a few of the images don't belong to me. I think I properly sited them, but I wanted to ask the original authors if it was ok to put them there. Anyway, I'll probably post a similar build for each of the ships I'm doing from the museum. I may add a scale convertor to it somehow (if I can remember my javascript) so that anyone can come on and figure out how big of parts to buy to build in different scales.

Smile [:)] Thanks for your complements fellas!!!! Smile [:)]

Nice work, Cap'n!

You need to contact Roberto Lima for permission. He's given me permission to post his work at my site, but that permission is not transferable to you.

Thanks Masao, and thanks again the rest of you. No offense ot Roberto Lima, but it is easier for me to open up my 3dsmax and whip up my own 3-D version of the Amarillo than to ask someone else and wait for their response. So, I sat down and whipped on up in about 30 minutes. I'll keep working on it, and hopefully it'll be a fair decent image in about a week. Here's the updated link, not much has changed...

Comments. critique, and suggestions are always welcome. The warp pods are heavily re-worked plastic spoons, which is not the way I would do it the next time. The booms are aluminum tube which will be partially concealed by the muffs made from 1/72 Harrier electronics humps. The tip tanks are 1/144 drop tanks.

Andrew, I'll have to look at them on a different computer. The one I'm on is blocking the MSN Groups... I'm excited to see what they look like. What scale are you building in?

I am a week off from finishing my Daedalus Class in 1:1000 (modified). Here are some update photos...

I'll lathe the front end of the Engineering section tomorrow, n make it smooth. I'll put together the rear hangar bay area tomorrow as well, prolly. I'll give it a day or two to sit, then drill the hole into the front end for the pylon tube (betw. the sphere & eng. section).

I just finished pattern work on my 1:1,000th scale Daedalus Class and should be sending it off to "Starship Modeler" for tooling in the next few days. All it lacks is a primer coat. I'll have some pictures to show later this evening, so stay tuned.

So, Woody, I take it the Baton Rouge will be on sale at SSM soon, yes? I seem to remember your mentioning that the decals were the only thing holding it up.

I can't wait to get my Baton Rouge from the SSM store. By the way, any news on the Avenger Class you were scratchbuilding? I'd love to see that as a kit, too, either through SSM or just produced on your own as you had originally planned to do with the Baton Rouge. No offence meant to Alfred Wong, but your Avenger is much closer to Masao's design and consequently a lot better looking.

I'm still working on the Avenger, my Vulcan starliner, and some very early work on a Huron class and a Marshall class. Time is at a premium with a new baby in the house. Wink [;)]
