Steven how do you like working with that home brew putty?

The homemade stuff was great for filling in across the built up stock for the main shape. I did have a slight problem with depressions that crept up as it dried. No biggie.
I do like the Magic sculp for things that need to be manipulted with fingers(fingers no like goop!)

Since the last photo I have laminated eleven sheet of For Sale signs into the split-level Bridge deck.
The putty is drying while I am typing this!

Next steps are the throat of the boom and the Bridge assembly itself!

Great work! That is easily the most interesting Klingon project I've seen this year. I'm really looking forward to your progress on this ship.

I designed Predator/Avenger to counter the D6. A kit (or two) of Predator/Avenger is coming, so I think a kit of D6 is also required...

Kit is right. You could sell the tar out of those. There is a big demand for Klingon ships.

I thought that might be the reaction this beauty would get. Blush [:I]

In fact, I have been trying to sort of think in subassemblies as I went along. But it isn't turning out that way.

Not having any experience with molding and casting, I am just bumbling along - but trying to keep it simple!
I thought about going for a TMP sort of refit for the D-6 but decided against it as being too much to hope for.

I will contact John and Linda and see what we can work out.

OH! Not wanting to infringe on any copyrights... How much would it matter that the only parts of the Polar Lights Klingon kit that I am using are the sides of the engines, the base and the shuttle deck/impulse vent?

Surely there is too much in this build to call it a conversion kit!

Masao, I will be building two bridge complexes.
One will match what you have in your blueprints.
The other will try to be more like the head of the oviraptor that is your inspiration! Mischief [:-,]

More pictures as they become available!

More like an oviraptor? You mean with teeth, eyes, and feathers?

Sure it's a conversion kit! If what SSM tells me is correct, the Alfred Wong kit of my Avenger is being marketed as a conversion of the PL Enterprise, even though the Enterprise nacelles are optional parts that aren't in my original design.

Sad [:(] Sorry no feathers. Trying to keep it simple.

Besides oviraptors have no teeth! Clown [:o)]

Finished the split level that sits atop the Klingon bow.
Working on the bridge structures now.
Once I have them in hand, I will post more pictures.

I've roughed out the deflector assembly. Now I need to build the dish itself.

I'm stalling out on the tail section of the Kestrel. Masao you don't mind if I just redesign it do you? Big Smile [:D] Seriously, I have three different ships on my table right now, just juggling them.

The thread was in danger of disappearing!

I have done a little more work on the D6. But my camera is feeling poorly. Dead [xx(]

I finished the command section just as Masoa drew it.
I had planned on fiddling with the bridge complex but after a few attempts found that Masao's works best!
Masao, you are a genius! Bow [bow]

I have, however, added an aft cannon since no Klingon ship would be without one.

At present, I am trying to add mirror-perfect inpulse vents. The trick is giving them a bit of 3D presence.
And at the same time keeping the model in a state that should be easy to mold... Black Eye [B)]

Maybe I can get the camera working again soon and post some more pictures before the end of the week. Angry [:(!]

Later!

Not a genius, certainly. However, I am 45 years old (yikes!) with the intellect of a 48 year old, so that comes out to an IQ of...more than 100!

Hey Masao, do you have any drawing of the underside of Kestrel? Or is it just a mirro minus the bridge? The tail section is coming along nicely, I may have more pics soon.

I'm just hoping I can stay on target long enough to finish it this time. I think I have modeling ADD! Cool [8D] When I get my BG shuttle I'll wanna start that and make a Landram to go with it.

It's pretty much the same as the top, without the bridge. Also, since the tail is set a bit above the midline, it doesn't extend as far forward on the bottom.

Thanks Masao, just wanted to confirm. I did notice the offset of the tail, I'm trying my best to make it as close as possible.

OK I'm back at it. Today is the day she gets final paint "WOOHOO!" I might even get some pics up tonight. I don't think I'll get the Tug done though... to many other projects. How are the rest of you doing?

Glad to hear that Larry. Any pics???Big Smile [:D]

I decided to scrap togther the decals from one of my PL 1701 kits rather than try making them all. Now all I have to print will be the name (I should be able to handle that lol). Paint went on and should be dry enough for a second coat here soon.

Haven't taken any yet, but they'd be nothing to ooh and aah over. Just components of the Polar Lights D7. I just started sealing the myriad of gaps last night, and I'm planning to do a little detailing.

Frinstance, I shaved off the phaser banks on the "head" and an going to try to do something like the K'Tinga in ST:TMP on them. Work on that is already underway. I will also add some additional details here and there, but won't go overboard, as it will then look too much like a K'Tinga and not enough like a TOS D7.
