Profksergeev: Very nice work so far. I am still ordering raw materials for my build. I do have a few question if you don't mind?
1) What scale are you making yours? Mine, if done right, will be approximately 1/40 scale. That is what yours looks like if not a tad bit smaller.
2) From your pics, I was wondering if you made yours from turned down metal and plastic? The couple of pics where it is black gives it a metallic look. I was planning on making mine from plastic tube and round stock for the nacelles. I have an idea for all basic shapes except the front part of the deflector shield array (I think that is what it is) coming from the back body to the spherical hull. Right now it has me stumped.
3) What are you using for the spherical hull? I see a hemisphere in one pic and was wondering where you got that from? Last night while search for spheres and domes (been searching for weeks actually) I came across a website for FX supplies and they had an assortment of hemispheres in all different sizes. I believe the website is www.fxsupply.com they are based out of Utah in the United States for anyone looking for hemispheres. They are the cheapest I have seen anywhere. I believe a 3" hemisphere is about $4.00 dollars (US). I have seen other places wanting $30.00 to $60.00. Theses spheres look good also for the round section of the nacelles.
At first I was getting worried that I would not be able to attempt this scratching building group build, feeling out of place but things are starting to come together. Next week I should be able to actually start putting something in place. It is rough not having a lathe or mill to do some of these parts with.
When does this group build finish? Sometime next year:) Just kidding, i think I will be close to done by June, I hope.
Everyones looks great, I love Star Trek ships.
MASAO, The designs you have come up with and others that are in the Starfleet Museum look great. When I was 10 or so (so long ago) I would try to sketch up starships based on Star Trek and Star Wars trying to come up with my own civillization. So where okay and some not so good. Every now and then by reading FSM, I pick up my T-square, pencils, and triangle and try to come up with different things. Yes, even through I am a computer draftsman, I still long for the days of a T-square. I think by using a pencil for sketches, that is where the magic comes from:) Again, great work. After this first scratchbuild and my confidence rises, i will actually start to build the fleet more.
