Should start it in the next few weeks Steve. I've been doing lots of research and prep work so far. Really difficult to find much information about her pre-1800. Little snippets of info here and there, and some of it doesn't correlate or make sense either! Going to have to use my own judgement for some of it.

michaelD , a quick question , could you tell me where you belayed the burton pendant's , on the mizzen mast ? , I've looked at the photo's , you have given me , I can't see any pendant's , and I'm worried that might answer my question Confused

Hi Steve,

There are 2 eyebolts abreast the Mizen mast in the deck along side the hammock cranes, 1 for the runner that has a double block siezed at one end and the other is for the fall that has a single block hooked to it and is taken to the 1st deadeye. I provided a pic to better illustrate for you, hope that helps mate?.

Steve there are 2 pendants total, what you did looks great!, but I do not see the runner with the double block that should be taken thru the pendant block and down to the deck?.

I'm aiming for 1797. Battle of Cape St Vincent era. Details are a bit murky about what Victory did have and didn't at the time. I've got a list going of things that will need changing, but there's also a few things that no-one, including experts, have the definitive answer for.

Hi Steve,

Looking at your pic there appears to be 2 pendants per side when there should be 1 per side, maybe that's confusing you a bit, or my attempted explaination?. You should have 2 eyebolts in the deck per side, one for the runner and one for the single block of the fall. This second pic should help, looking at the port side the runner is hooked to the aft eyebolt and the block for the fall is hooked to the fore eyebolt.

The starboard side shows the fall arraingment.

I think I got it this time michael , you give me enough whack's around the ear , it finally sink's in . I take it that's how all the pendant's are supposed to be . I wasn't sure what a runner was , now I know . thank's mate . YesBig Smile

I have to re-do all the pendant fall's first , I know you gave me the dimension's for the mizzen yard , but damned if I can find it . think you said something along the line's of 270 mm , is that right , and it will be next too .

Nice work Steve, I hate to mention it, but all 4 burton pendant falls should be taken to the forecastle deck, the falls for the top ropes are taken to either side of the main hatch.

Steve5,

A great thread. I repeat what Steve ("Bakster") said.

I am following closely and taking notes.  I really like the interchange on corrections from the Experienced Victory Builders.

Thanks To All who are adding to these Posts.!

Ahh, the soul-destroying ratlines. I say this, but I'm yet to discover the joys of constructing and painting all those cannons yet! Looking great so far Steve. The pain will be worth it in the end.

At this rate Steve you'll be finished before me Lol. This phase is a little too early for me, I find it much easier to feed the tweezers between the shrouds to access the bitts. As always great work mate!!Yes

thankyou gentlemen Smile, I know what you mean michael , but the way I figure it , after all the other rigging , the last thing I'd want to do at the end of it all , would be the rat line's .

 Steve,

Postimage has many limitations, one of which seems to be no multiple pics at a time can be linked to a post on FSM.  I have failed to find a way around this. It also has some other faults such as no ability to view images one after another.

 EDIT:  In case I misunderstood...

You CAN upload multiple photos to Postimage.  When you select Upload at Postimage.org you are taken to the the folders on your hard drive where you can select folders that contain your pictures.  To select multiple pictures for uploading, hold down the CTRL button and click on each picture you want to upload.  Each picture will become highlighted.  When done selecting, release CTRL and click Okay.  They will all upload. Another option is to Click the first picture of a contiguous string of pictures, hold the shift key down and click the last picture in the string.  All the pictures between the first and last will highlight,  release the shift key and click Okay and all will upload to Postimage.

In spite of some short-comings, like Ads, it works fine as a basic hosting site. Easy to navigate and upload.  More importantly, easy to get those "Direct links" for posting. It sure is better than Google Photos and Photobucket dispite ads. Many Photo hosting sites have advertisements too but I'm convinced the Ads on Postimage are "better looking".

Thank you for that "Share" link on Google since your original photo's in the thread vanished a while back.

 Keep up the great work.

   Thanks.

         Jim.

P.S. I have a test of a Copy/Paste method to try on the Testing forum.  I fear it could be just as time consuming as doing one picture at a time.   I will keep you informed

EDIT:  No-Go on multiple pics attempt from Postimage. Maybe someone else has better ideas.

EDIT:  See additional input from BlackSheep214 at my Testing Forum Thread: Postimage: Multiple pics to a post
