Thanks Dave,  I do try to pay attention to detail when I can & that just kind of struck me funny & so I posted it to see what  everyone had to say.

We only use 2o% of over brains so, why not burn out the other 80%!!

Well, there are alot of threads in here on the PT-109 & one guy is/was working on PT-117 with alot of pics. He is also using the White Ensign Models PE set.

My build is progressing slowly as I still have the topside to do. As far as painting goes, that's still a big debate but, WEM has  item# WEMCC US 29,  U.S. Navy WWII tropical Green which is pretty close to what was used in the Pacific Theatre.

I highly recommend Al Ross & John Lambert's "Allied Coastal Forces" vol.2 as a reference, T. Garth Connolly's PT Boats in Action &  along with his website http://www.ptboatworld.com/models.htm

I was able to put together a pretty convincing depth charge for the WEM depth charge rack.  I started with K&S brass tubing 1/4 diameter and cut it to fit just inside the WEM depth charge rack.  This now forms the casing for the depth charge.  Then I found that Evergreen styrene 7/32 tubing fits snugly inside the 1/4 K&S tube.  I sealed one end of the styrene tubing by butt gluing on some thin plastic sheet stock (also Evergreen) so that the tube is now capped.  I sanded it to shape so that I could slide it back into the depth charge casing.  Then I cut the 7/32 capped tubing so that it was less than half the length of the casing.  I slid it into the casing so that the capped tubing was recessed just a tiny bit like a real depth charge.  I repeated this again to seal off the other end of the casing.  A tiny amount of CA was used to seal the styrene in place.  Next I took 2 parts 43 from the WEM set and glued them to either end of the depth charge.  Viola!  A very convincing 1/72 depth charge.  Maybe the nicest thing I've done so far on this boat!

Here are some photos.  They're very small!  Once I add the rails inside the rack, add the retaining strap, and paint, it should look pretty sharp.  Certainly better than the pot metal unit I got from HR products. 

Build them just the way I described above.  I'm not sure what else I can add.  It was a very easy process.  It probably took me about 20 minutes.
