The other day on eBay I was looking at 1/48 F6F-5s. I have not had one in my collection for about 8 years now. Well I can across this kit for half off with free shipping... basically $20. The only review I could find was a video review ( I hate video reviews, preferring to read at my own speed). Anyways, it turns out this is Eduard sprues with resin wheels and seats w/molded on harness (there will now be a spare in my bin) and four decal options. Not bad for $20...

I haven't paid my LHS a visit in a while, so I stopped by on my way home today.

Of course, that also inevitably lead to spending some money:

The 152 has a lot of issues, but luckily there are correction sets available for it. I got something a bit unusual planned for that one.

The Tiger II is an excellent kit and with a price tag of only 27€, I just couldn't resist. Smile

When I got home, there was a big box from Hobbylink Japan waiting for me:

With it being the Premium version of the kit, it comes with almost all of the separately available detail sets, as well as masks for the deck camouflage:

The only upgrade set not included is the wooden deck, but there really is no need for that with it all being painted green.

Just got this one in from China.  My lady barber is an Indian nut (has two of them, 1:1's)

Turns out this is a double kit with PE wiring and wheels. Going to do one as a civvy and the other as the Mil Spec. Comes with decals and paint schemes for both the military and either red or green/gold for the civilian version.  Clean moldings, but a lot of fiddly, fragile stuff in the box.

OOOOh the Liberty ship and the Burleigh are cool finds but my favorite is the Mu-1a float chopperr, I have not seen one of these and like to build one.

Jay Jay,

Hi, I'm happy about the  Burleigh and Liberty ship because they are two kits I've kind of had in the back of my mind for awhile.  The Russian helos are fairly small kits, but had an interesting look to them.  Since I have two, if you want the float one let me know.  I'm out of the country right now, but should be back in early May and can send it to you if you want it.

This month’s purchases found some nice deals at a model swap meet and some good ebay bargains.

Now if I could only find a Dragon Puma and the newest Wittmann Tiger I without spending close to a couple hundred.

Jay Jay

I picked up the Heller version of the Connie that I intend to build into the original Airforce One someday. It looks like a great kit too.

Jay Jay, I look forward to seeing that Connie Air Force One. The Connie is such an elegant and distinctive looking aircraft.

I plan on doing a series of TWA airliners in memory of my father, since he worked for them for thirty some odd years.

German, Schatten, you guys got some killer additions!

Last nite at IPMS a friend gifted me these two TOW M151s. One is started a bit, the other not. Trying to decide how to make them different...

Then I found this old beauty that one guy was selling. I built the same kit for my dad when I was a kid since it was the aircraft type that he worked on when he started with TWA in the 50’s. I’m gonna do a better job this time...

Hi,

Although I am being sent out of the country for an extended period of time, there was an IPMS show today in Northern VA, and I ended picking up a couple random kits.

TriMotor

2

FT17

The FT17 is something I've been wanting for awhile.  I had even ordered a slightly different version off eBay, but the vendor shut down without shipping it, so eBay refunded my money.  So I was happy to pick up this copy (without having to worry about shipping), and it cost me only about 2/3rds the price of the cheapest similar version that I could find on eBay.

The other models were all impulse buys, mostly because they seemed reasonably cheap, and were along the lines that interest my (like merchant/auxiliary ships or odd looking helicopters/planes).  The Liberty ship and the Burleigh were $30 combined, and all the rest were $4-10 a piece. Smile

I went on a bit of a shopping spree on a Chinese website roughly a month ago and the order finally arrived here today:

My armor stash consists mostly of German WW2 subjects already, so I decided to refrain from buying more of those. Naturally, that didn't really work out too well:

Those two should be some really fun what-if builds. The kits are very straight forward without being oversimplified and they seem to fit together really well.

Next in the box were those two beauties. Both are very competitively priced compared to Dragon's kits of the same vehicles and they also both look like better kits to be honest.

The Pz IV actually looks very similar to a Dragon kit, but with some clever engineering solutions that should make it a bit easier to assemble.

The Panther however really steals the show here. Dragon's Panthers are already nice kits, but the Rye Field kit really steps up the game and improves on the Dragon kit in all regards.

The instructions are a lot better, you get enough assembly options to recreate almost every Panther G ever produced and all the surface details are just as good or better than in the Dragon kit. It even seems to have a very subtle rolled steel texture molded into all the hull plates. To top it all off, you also get a full set of workable tracks in a kit less than half the price of the Dragon Panther Gs.

I've got something special planned for this one when I get around to building it. Yes, it involves turret armor skirts on a Pz IV F1.

And last but not least, this monster of a kit is also finally mine:

This is hands down the best aircraft kit I've ever seen. The surface detail is simply incredible, the cockpit actually gets really close to some resin detail sets and according to the reviews I've read it's an absolute joy to build.

Perhaps later this year on the BMP Bish. I need to wrap up a few other projects first before I can resume the BMP. And yes, that Airfix 109F is a fun kit. I built one as a quick build 2 summers ago and it turned out just fine. I’m looking at my decals and books now, to about perhaps doing a different one...

Mopar, Man City, Keav, Model Crazy, all you guys are getting some great acquisitions! All sorts of goodies!

As for me at our last AMPS meeting, which was our annual fundraising auction, I came away with some goodies as well...

First up was a set of figures I had asked about from one of the guys. He said that he had them and does not do modern stuff, so they were passed to me, free of charge.

Now I can finish that Iraqi BMP that I have sidelined as envisioned...

Of all the armor kits that I had my eye on and bid for, this was the only one that I scored. The others got out of my price range too fast... it also included an Eduard PE set, so I am happy to get this one

And lastly these three aircraft... they were offered as a bundle... I only wanted the Storch, as I already had The Spitfire and I built the 109 last year...

So now, for the princely sum of $1, I finally have a Storch, another Spit, which has parts to do a Mk.VII, VIII, or IX, as well as alternate wingtips, rudders, and such in the box, so.... and another easy build 109F can’t hurt. I just need to look for decals now... and if not, I can donate them to the IPMS auction....

falconmod

just aquired these two this week,  I want to try to the same thing to this corsair as is in the April edition of fine scale.   the A-wing fighters, well they are Ban Dai and just fantastic little models,  getting addicted to them.  40% off Hobby Lobby coupon is fueling it.

John

Got this in the mail yesterday for my corsair,  now i suppose i have to fit the build in somewhere.

Nice looking score there D. Not much of an armor guy but I walways wanted that Panther. The P-38 looks cool as well.

I got these today at the Dallas IPMS auction.

I don't comment much on this thread, as I am concerned my jealousy will show through.  Devil  I do, however check it out every time I see a new post.  Nice hauls everyone.

We had a convention this weekend, and well....you know how that goes:

These are all used kits except the Airfix, and I am pretty pleased with what I was able to pick up.
