But for the life of me, I cannot fathom the attraction or popularity of those “egg” kits. I know “to each, his own”

They're fun, diffrent and quick. A welcome light relief to the serious business of building ships Huh?

Yeah, they're the closest thing to a quick cheap and dirty build I've seen yet. And an excellent palete cleanser between more serious items.

Very cool stuff all around guys!

Clemens: WOW!!!

Steven & Chad: Very cool! If you're ever down here lemme know and I'll buy ya'll a cheeseburger.....

I hope that V-2 is on its way to Yorkshire via mail and not ballistic flight... Wink

The Maus looks like a nice project....

On it's way to Yorkshire.

3 kits in one box. Should be a nice set of builds and will take some room up in the cabinet!

Just put my name down for:

Drifter, that is a great batch of kits! And 2 Tamiya Spits for $6?! Wow! That is just this side of a steal! Way too good to be true!

MC, those look to be some good books. But for the life of me, I cannot fathom the attraction or popularity of those “egg” kits. I know “to each, his own”.... does not compute...

After being invited to Mopar Madness' home for dinner, he also gave me a gift.

The Hasegawa Egg T-4 Blue Impusle.

While at his house, he showed me some 3-D books for some future ship builds of his. I was so impressed that I immediately ordered the Akagi book followed by the Takao, North Carolina and Bismarck books when I returned home. The Bismarck book arived last night.

The Egg will go nicely next the the 1/72 Hase T-4 I did a few years ago for the Demonstration Team GB.

Thank you Chad!

Steve

Hello everyone,

It's been awhile since I could look at this post. Everyone has got some outstanding additions to their stash. Here are a few items I picked up at a local show.

I won this track assembler in a raffle

A friend gave me this kit

I got the 2 Spits for $6.00...could not pass up that deal.

Nice gifts from Steve.  Picked up the big Hurricane last year from the club sale. I'll be watching for a wip when you get to it.

That was a nice gift from MC.

Its so good to hear he is doing well. I really commend you for being a friend.

If ever there was a ceiling model, that Sentry could be it.

Yep quite a lot of tank parts there. I sort of did that when I was a model railroader. Whole future train conversions. Then when I left that hobby I was stuck with most of it.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

I don't plan on using everything in the sets, just the stuff that makes sense. Imo there are enough usable parts in those sets to warrant a purchase, but I do agree that a lot of it is simply unnecessary.

Yikes indeed. Good luck with the Voyager PE, i hate the damn things. Wish i had not bought so many before i used one.

Is there anything in particular you dislike that much about them? I've only assembled a Fender set and some tool clamps made by them so far and didn't find them that much worse than Aber's stuff.

Of course the instructions are absolutely terrible, but that seems to be something almost all PE sets have in common.

I would prefer Aber etch, but they simply don't make sets for the tanks in question.

Mainly the instructions, and they seem to include lots more parts than you need and i am never sure if i have missed somthing.

I have stopped buying AM sets now unless i think a kit really needs it. And most of the modern kits don't IMHO. I have thrown to much money away on on stuff when the kit was perfectly fine. The Amusing Hobby sets don't need anything beyond some PE clamps and a metal barrel now and again.

Tonight my wife and I hosted Modelcrazy (Steve) for one final farewell dinner before he heads back to Idaho and resumes life post transplant.  Steve knows my love of Airfix and shows up with 5 Airfix goodies for me and I’m over the moon!  The 1/24 Hurricane is still sealed and the AWACS Sentry has been on my “someday” list for years! That Sentry is going to be quite the shelf hog!  Thank you brother!

Ohhhhh nice! Dive Bomber is pure eye candy, like Bridges at Tokyo Ri or The Final Countdown. And that SBD is the old Accurate Miniatures molds, so it’s the best 1/48 SBD kit out there currently.

I'm liking 1/700 light cruisers.

USS San Diego, Atlanta class by Dragon.

USS Savannah, Brooklyn class by Niko. Resin kit.

USS Miami, Cleveland class by Pitroad.

I just ordered one 20.99 with free shipping on Ebay.  Been wanting a decent hellcat.

Joe, I sure can see that it is a beauty of a kit just looking at the sprues. Eduard has come a long way.

GH, I sure am a happy camper with this Hellcat. Just not sure if I want to use the kit decals or a different option.

Keav, you sure are getting a decent kit at a great price

The other day on eBay I was looking at 1/48 F6F-5s. I have not had one in my collection for about 8 years now. Well I can across this kit for half off with free shipping... basically $20. The only review I could find was a video review ( I hate video reviews, preferring to read at my own speed). Anyways, it turns out this is Eduard sprues with resin wheels and seats w/molded on harness (there will now be a spare in my bin) and four decal options. Not bad for $20...

That is indeed an outstanding score Stik. The Eduard F6F series are unbelievably beautiful kits. Marvelous detail and engineering.
