Here are a few that my oldest son and I built.

This is a fun hobby.  I am getting better and it is fun for a history teacher to tell my son about history and build the models as we go

I've finished a few more Revellogram builds, so I thought I'd share 'em.

Here's a P-47D rescribed with SuperScale decals:

The venerable 1/32 Corsair.  Pretty much OOB.

1/48 built for a Korean war F-84G pilot's family.

Hope you like 'em!

Cheers,

-O

WOW! That`s some dynamite work there Chris. Just proves the point...these kits can be built up just as nice as or even better than some of the "other" kits!   Of course, a little talent helps too....Wink

Len

Ditto Excellent work.....love the finishes!

To keep the thread going, here is my Monogram He 111.  The box was dated 1994.  This was a fantastic kit and on par with anything Tamiya or Hasegawa have produced.  They can still be found on E-bay reasonably cheap.  I have three more in my stash for later builds.

Thanks,  I kind of had to go with the pin stripping when I put the canopy on the model after I learned that the plastic was warped out of the box.  This made the canopy fit with some serious gap in it.  The top part of the open canopy had some really large gaps.  It is not to scale to an extent.  I did follow the panel lines that were on the canopy from factory.

The canopy fit is the major beef with this kit. You may have had some warped plastic but I think it`s just the usual clear parts problem with this particular kit. That`s why everyone got excited when Great Wall came out with their P-61A and from the reviews I`ve read, the fit is superb but, the kit has issues. For $85 there shouldn`t be any issues so I`ll keep on building the "horrible" Revell kit...unless I can find a GW kit dirt cheap...Big Smile

As to the dull coat, yah I did use it only to discover i had new tinted windows lol.  what I thought was ruined turned out to be a blessing in disguise.  I was able to use some mineral oil and a cue tip to polish the windows so I could look in it.  It gave a dirty glazed look to the canopy.  I thought what was cool how I can take off the front and back and set em on with no glue to show off the insides.

The red to me looks more realistic than the supplied decals on that design.  I painted the drop tanks to match an old print I found on the net.  I thought about weathering it.  But I couldn't bring myself to scraping it all up.  The next build will be a tiny messerschmidt.  I think that will be mostly paint instead of plastic.

The other cool thing about this build is that all parts that can move including the wheels do.  Made my own keeps so them could roll.  This model is very nose heavy.

@ cadcyg...nice job on a relatively tough kit. As for the pinstriping, I`ve used the same stuff a few times, the one build that comes to mind is the Monogram  F-86 Saber kit. I screwed up my decals and had the pinstriping already so, I used it. It looks good from a distance but is way out of scale up close...too thick and if you don`t "miter" your cuts where two stripes meet it really is noticeable.

I remember you asking about spraying the canopies with Dullcote....looks to me like you may have...? Are the drop tanks painted?

You have a nice clean build there, although I don`t care for the pinstriping for the reasons I mentioned...you can get away with it on the canopies...people have been using "Fast Frames" for years and it`s basically the same thing, but looks outta scale to me on the fuselage...just my opinion...and...who the h%$# am I anyway.....Stick out tongue

do you mean the red stripping?  That is 3/32 crepe tape from Hobby Lobby craft store.  Worked alot better than the decals.

Did you utilize the pinstriping for the wing walk areas, too?

Just finished my P-61 Black widow.  In experimenting with the canopies I found that when using automotive  pin stripping tape from autozone.  Not only does it add to the look, create clean lines, but it also fills in where the clear plastic is short due to mold problems.

I really enjoyed this model build.
