Things didnt go according to plan but I did get the canopy on and masked. I did get a black primer coat down but didnt manage to get any RLM 79 down.

It came out really smooth, Ed.  Should be a good base for the paint.

I was feeling motivated after work and shot some MM acryl RLM 79 down.  Not a fan of these MM acrylics but it looks pretty good.  Photos dont show the panel line being accented by the black base and the slight mottled appearance of the 79 but its the classic "photos dont do it justice" scenario.

An Akagi update, sort of. Still drilling and installing porthole covers.

Many many more to do.

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

My 1941 has been getting some love as well as 1943. Not really happy with the PrintScale decals or the Fujimi kit decals. Nothing seems to pull them down as if they are impervious.

Still looks good, Ed, despite the decal issue!

I might have this one done this weekend.  Just have some more weathering and bombs left.

Nicely done, Ed.  Subtle weathering looks terrific.  Nice job with the two color spinner; I always find them difficult.

Thanks, I just used a circle template for drafting and taped it so the spinner was held in tight. Then I just sprayed multiple lite coats with low pressure till it finally built up.

I've heard of the method, Ed, but haven't tried it, and I even have a circle template.  I've been hesitant, thinking that the circle template might scratch the first layer of color applied to the spinner.

Just a slow progress picture while fine tuning the look.

Outstanding work, Ed.  Really great-looking showpiece.  You did excellent work painting the canopy.  Very pleasing all-around.

And your choice for the finish photo?  Lots of good ones to pick from.

Thanks for being part of the GB.  It's been a pleasure to watch your work.

Thanks, that's a tough call since my phone took some good photos that day. I would say any of the first four.

Yes, all the photos came out looking good.  You must have a good camera in your phone.

Thanks again for participating in the GB.

Almost forgot I'd signed up for this GB as well. Just finished my Hurricane tonight after almost a two-year break! Went through the thread and am very impressed with everyone's work. Excited to include this little bird here. As a recap, it's a Finnish Hurrican MkI fabric-winger, bought from England and designated HC465, in mid-1941 just after the start of the Continuation War. The pilot was Capt. H. Kalaja, from Pori, Finland (incedentally, where my ancestors are from as well). The kill mark on the tail is probably the DB-3 he downed on 3 July 1941.

Great looking Hurricane, suomi39.  It is a great kit.  I built one, too, some time ago, and was majorly impressed with the kit.  Went together really well.  I'd like Airfix to come out with the metal wing version now.

You did a fine job!  Do you have a preference for the finish photo?

Thanks for participating in the GB!
