Mike, thank you for your kind words! As a new guy, it's really cool to get compliments from folks with lots of experience....like you!

You know you'll have no trouble with the mottling, and I'm excited for you getting your a/b back good as new. Speaking of the Stuka GB, I just started mine today and already I'm a bit stumped. :)

Doug, sorry to hear about the computer woes. But, worse things could happen like you alluded to. I hope you like your new connection better than DSL. Know that 4 days gone and I definitely noticed! Welcome back. :)

One at a time for me. At least up until now. I think in my near future I'm going to have two going on. Might have to take multitasking lessons from you, Clemens.

Don't always stop by the "Butcher" tent but glad I did to see Greg's completed bird.  Your finish is excellent, the open detail convincing and the canopy looks great (bad glass can be a deal breaker).  I'd say your skills have progressed substantially Toast

On the Tarmac: 1/48 Revell P-38

In the Hanger: A bunch of kits

Reasoned, thanks mate!!! I appreciate that! (and happy you stopped back in and took the time to comment)

All improvement is 100% due to stuff I have learned from you guys. Still a long way to go, and every time I look at the completed build section I am reminded of that for sure.

Greg.    That is stellar job  gratz on the completion on your first edward.

How would you rate the edward build ? I also like the paint on this one.

I'm sure you told us before but did you free hand or mask. ?

Great looking bird.

Bish.  Thanks for the info on the first British bomber shoot down now that I have a battle name I'll look into it a bit more. Maybe come up with a nice 109 to build.

Plus that kind of  story is interesting to me.

I don't think I have enough experience to be rating much of anything, mate! The Eduard kit was challenging to me, haven't quite figured out how I managed not to completely botch it up! I guess I can say that it required more thinking ahead and test fitting than I actually did. Maybe next time. Wink It was my first time working with an engine mount like this one, that was probably the worst part for this born again rookie.

The paint was all freehand, except I ended up with a bit of overspray on the wings on closer inspection so I went back and used poster tac for a touch up mask.

That's great! I am starting to get withdrawal symptoms from not seeing any pics from you for so long. Angel

Hi guys, my AB is at the service firm and I got a phonecall from the technician this morning for a chat about it, so fingers crossed I got the AB back in tip-top condition and can rip into these birds!

Cheers, Mike/TB379

My fingers crossed for you too, Mike.

When you get it sorted out, I'd surely like to know what was wrong, what repairs were needed.

Alright! Clemens is getting his photobucket issue cleared up and Mike is going to have a functioning airbrush again. Looking forward to some awesome Butcher Birds going into the final laps.

Greg, awesome work! Excellent representation of Walter Wagner's 190. One of my favorite JG 4 machines. I see no seams or other flaws, looks like you tamed that Eduard kit in the end. Nice work. The mottling and airbrushing looks very well done. See, not that hard is it? Toast

Thanks for taking the time to comment on this one, Nathan! I really appreciate it a lot.

I am very glad I picked this particular scheme, and I must admit I had some help choosing it from a more experienced modeler (Clemens).....and I'm glad for it. As my third build back, is my favorite exterior by a long shot. Cool it happens to be one of your favorites!

Well, um, if you say so. Big Smile So many re-sprays of the mottling I was surprised to have had any panel lines left on the sides.  Whistling

That looks great Greg!   The paintwork is particularly masterful, the mottling looks spot-on too.  I think the underside looks very nice.  The weathering looks very realistic to my eyes.   All in all, it's a wonderful rendition of the "Butcher Bird".  Well-done indeed sir!Bow Down

Hey guys, I'm truly sorry for not posting yesterday as promised, but I found a mistake after looking at my 190s again. The two Hasegawa 190s looked strange to me for quite a while now and I finally discovered what made them both look "off". I made the (very embarrasing) mistake of glueing the MG cowl of the F-8 on the A-5 and the other way round. This would've been an easy fix if I would've discovered it earlier (right after getting the parts glued to the fuselages), but I didn't, so I had to cut the cowls out very carefully to get them attached on the right 190s. All that cutting resulted in a horrible fit so I'm working on that issue right now. I got the F-8 cover to fit quite well by now and some more persuasion when applying hte glue as well as an extended sanding session combined with a bit of scribing should make it look OK-ish. Th A-5 cover on the other hand isn't as easy to handle however because the part was a bit too small to start with and the sanding I'll have to do won't help much with that problem... I'm confident I can fix it, but I'll need another day or so to scribe/sand them into submission... I'll post a complete update tomorrow at night or Tuesday afternoon...

I just wanted to add that the fit of both Hasegawa kits was as perfect as it could get. The fit issues are purely caused by me being too dumb to remember which part belongs to the F-8 and which one goes on the A-5 (they don't even look similar to make this failure even bigger Embarrassed)

Having so many going at once, it's surprising you don't have more incidents like this!

You'll get it sorted out, mate. Smile

Well I just finished repairing the damage on the A-8 and it looks kinda acceptable. I'll get the A-5 done tomorrow and post some pictures as soon ass I'm done with that.

Hi guys,

I heard from the service shop, and my airbrush is on its way back, thoroughly cleaned and serviced, with a new air cap, so I should be painting again soon.
