An Eduard ProfiPack with these flaws? Really?

Plastic is not prejudice as it does yeild to heat and is also subject to packing deformity. Wink

Don't forget, I was away from the hobby for a long time. Still learning what to expect.

I guess I would have held Eduard to a higher standard based on all I hear of them, and the excellent condition and packaging of my first Eduard kit. Silly me. Embarrassed

Eduard's kits are very well packaged and molded normally, but sometimes you end up with a flawed kit. I know Eduard's customer service is great so i could've just asked for a replacement sprue, but I didn't really want to bother because it wasn't a difficult fix after all. I have a total of 16 Eduard kits (10 are 190s) in my stash right now and every single one of them apart from that A-8/R2 is molded perfectly and amazingly detailed (especially that MiG-21), so I'm sure I just got extremely unlucky with my badly molded wing.

You got one too? Mine arrived toaday but I have to pick it up at the post office first which, of course, is closed tomorrow Stick out tongue

I think this is the best royal class so far:

  • 16 Decal options (most decals I've seen so far in any kit)
  • Brassin wheels, gun pods, rocket launchers
  • The usual full PE fret supplied with royal kits
  • HGW fabric seatbelts
  • a piece of a real G-14
  • a frickin 109 beer glass!!!

I just hope all the goodies (the glass in particular) are still in one piece. This baby came all the way from the states after all...

So tell me, how do you like that beauty of a kit?

Cool! Is this the one with two full kits? If so, I was looking at it the other day. If not, cool anyway!

Clemens, curious why you order from US? I'd have thought Europe would be Eduard heaven.

That's a good question mate! With a very simple answer: It's cheaper! Wink

The Royal Class costs (with shipping):

  • 166$ at Sprue Brothers
  • 130€ at Eduard's store (=173$)
  • 109£ at Hannants (=183$)

Yes it's the one with 2 kits inside. And a bunch of goodies. And a beer glass....

I sort of half-expected that. Yet I'm still surprised! Surprise

Thanks for the cost breakdown (with shipping) .....very interesting. And why did Colonel Klink come to mind when I said that???

Hey Clemens, Any luck with photobucket? I am dying to see some pics of your 190s. Maybe potobucket is retaliating after having been stuffed to the hilt with progress pics from 9 different FW 190 builds. Just a random thought.

Nothing yet, but I think I can get it working. Give me a few days. If it's still not cooperating, I'll just try to find another website...

Progress so far:

  • Engines of all Doras painted and assembled
  • All wings assembled and seams sanded down
  • Fuselages of the Tamiya and Hasegawa kits assembled and cleaned up
  • all engine parts for the Eduard A-8/R2 cleaned up and painted (ready for assembly)
  • Fabric seatbelts built up and glued in place on several 190s

I'm still waiting on some Dora exhausts (Quickboost) so I can't close up the Dora fuselages yet. The A-8 still needs all the fuselage PE installed before I can paint the engine and forward fuselage interior, so that's on top of my to-do list ATM.

I ran out of gel CA so I'll get me some tomorrow as well as placing an order for some wheels: The Eduard wheels are really disappointing and Tamiya's wheels are horrible and don't work at all (the way too small diameter doesn't really help witth countering the short gear legs and they lack details. Do you guys have any recommendations regarding the wheels? I have access to Brengun, Eduard Brassin, True Details and CMK via Hannants. Which ones do you think are best?

I won't get any bench time in on my 190s untill Saturday because the mailman brought a surprise present from one of my relatives today. It's an awesome new piece of photo-hardware but I'm not very familiar with it so I'll spend the next days trying to figure things out.

Oh and my LHS finally got a shiny new toy in that I ordered a long time ago. I already picked it up a week ago but didn't get a chance to use it yet. Stay tuned for that one Wink

What? I'm sure we are all curious about the Fw assembly line. If you can't post pics, text is the next best thing.

Yems I would like to see that production line also I remember the picks early on. That's ambitious. Hats off to you.

WOW.  A royal kit I would love to get my hands on one. I'll break down one day and grab one.

The hole thing is cool the beer class but for me having a piece of a 109 is mind blowing.even more

So if it had paint on it.

Speaking of 109 paint I just ordered a book that's all about the late war 109s colours and is in colour.

I think it's called the last listserv eagles and there colours. And I purchased every RLM colour paint that model master makes.            RAMPING UP FOR THE  109 GB........YAAAA.  :)

Greg my wife would agree with the fanatic.....lol I have had several luft books delivered this week and I'm still waiting on the bomber and fighters  of the Luftwaffe. Of world war 2  to show up

.one that I have become very interested in is the ME-410 just a beautiful bird looks like something that could be built today. Maybe except for the barbet fusalge  guns

Well, I just mixed my homebrew RLM 75 and applied it to the wings and tail of the A-8, and it looks a lot better than the Acryl. Unfortunately the AB is still giving trouble -- I thought it had got into a good phase from the way it behaved on some spot spraying to finish a tank project, but no, it's still spattering with the best of 'em. It looks like I'll be sending it to have those repairs after all. I can have it away on the other side of the weekend, which sadly means I won't get to finish the camo on this bird over the weekend as I'd hoped...

I can relate to that. I've got a Meng 410 in the stash. No aftermarket stuff as of yet though.

Sorry to hear about your AB issues Thunder. Hope it gets back soon.

I got the Meng 410 as well and I don't think it needs any AM parts apart from seatbelts, wheels and a metal barrel for the 50mm cannon... The amount of detail in this kit is simply amazing!

I hope they get your AB fixed, Mike. There's nothing more annoying than a misbehaving airbrush...

Mike, it does sound like you'll need to bite the bullet, get the AB repaired. Wonder if you're like me, I hate sending stuff out for repair cuz I don't want to be without it. Even if not working. Doh!

Sooner you get it sent out, sooner you'll get er back. (that what I tell myself, anyway)

BD, you're ahead of me, Still not taken the reference book plunge. Too cheap to spend the $, plus my significant other would  not understand. That said, I might be getting closer to it cuz I had more accuracy questions come to mind during my (late) second 190 here.

Re the ME-410, I didn't know Messie even made a twin. Shows ya what I know. Awkward looking bird, to my eye. All the more reason to build one! That blunt nose reminds me of an ancient Piper twin I did a few hours of training in decades ago.

Nope! I've never been much of a follower of warbirds until recently. Kinda odd for this bunch, I realise!!

I'm learning, sloooowly.
