Personally I think the rust is too much... except perhaps on the exhaust. An in service operational vehicle will be dirty, grimy, muddy, dusty, etc. but not very rusty. The US paint jobs were pretty durable, and the only time you will see a Duece looking like a rust bucket like that is after months of sitting derelict.

Thanks man that's what i was looking for. I'll rememdy it tomorrow should be easy enough to fix

ok... I did not want to rain on your parade with my critique... some folks will post stuff like that, then get huffy when you give them honest feedback of this sort.

Bish: Yeah I'm really excited to start my first Paicfic theather aircraft.

TigerEP1: With all the rust on your Cargo Truck, it gives the look of a heavily
used truck with tens of thounds of miles diven.  I like it.

Sprayed Model Master primer on the Hezter,  still working on the Easy Eight.

I would post a photo but, photobucket is not displaying links. Hmm

Hey Bish!  You going to do a compilation review thread for all the 70th Anniversary builds?

It's almost over!  Big Smile

(At least 2015 is.)

That sounds like it would be a good idea GAF. the biggest problem though is that I didn't run the first two and I don't have any of the pics saved, so it would only work if all the pics are still up. And finding the first two, 42 and 43, as things are currently would be a nightmare. Once they sort things out I will have a look and se how viable it is. Of course, there is still one more year to go.

I didn't realise the Skyraider was that early, I just think of it AS A Vietnam era aircraft. But indeed it would, I would be great to see one in WW2 markings.

As fofr me i already have an aircrfat build lined up and plan on doing an armour build as well, just not sure which one.

Thanks Stik. Does look like it changed much by the mid 60's, though I guess there was some improvement in avionics.

The A-1 would just squeak in. The first production model AD-1 was delivered to VA-19A in Dec 46. The tough part would be to find one in kit form.

Steve, it doesn't matter to much. The 46 GB will be a what if GB. So it could be an A-1 as it might have looked had the war carried on, maybe how it looked at the time of the Korean war. neither of my planned builds even left the drawing board. Bucksco, no problem, that's a really nice build there and your welcome to post it.

I agree with Bish your dio is great. I'm glad you posted the pics if it. Your right, it fits right in here.

Tiger, I've been back modeling for about 6 years now and I still welcome any and all constructive criticism. I belong to to a local model club and one member who has never been to any of the meetings thinks he is better than any one else. Personally, I wonder if he is afraid to let any one see his builds. he may not be any good. LOL

Anyway, here's a couple of WIP pics of my dio. How is this for cobblestones? I carved this out of a piece of plaster that I made last year. What would be under the cobblestones? I'm thinking of using part of this piece as they would have parts of the street that was destroyed.

Sorry, I was away from this build too long. I bought the Mash chopper thinking it would be a quick build... Wrong Oops Oh well.

Joe, Thanks, I'm starting to like doing the figures. Sorry I didn't reply sooner, I didn't see your post til now.

70 years ago.  I was born 10 years after the end of WWII, so I grew up knowing a lot of veterans.  They're almost all gone now.  We have nothing left but remembrance.

Bish, getting all those images together would be quite a task, but it sure would be nice to see 4+ years of models together for one last great 70th.  No pressure.  Wink

Thanks Gary, I think. I will see what I can do. It just depends if people have removed them from there photo sharing site. I might look into it for after the 46 GB, that gives me over a year to find the threads. Speaking of the 46 GB, Stik has kindly agreed to help out again. So you will have to put up with the two of us for one more year. Look out for a build thread in late Nov.

Actually Gary, it didn't take that long. I just found the 42 and 43 threads, I didn't host those. And most of the pics seem to be there. There is one missing from the 43, and that's mine. I didn't finish until late, and the host had gone by then. I will go through them and the 44 build at the weekend and save all the pics to my laptop for future use. That's was a great suggestion, thanks. Glad to have you on board again Stik. Especially if you bring along that beauty behind you.

Bish, I would love to bring along that C-47... But I think that the folks at Benning may not be too happy if it disappears from that spot...

They wouldn't mind stik Geeked LOL

I have no idea what I'm going to for the 1946 GB. I'll have to give this some thought. Just thought of something I've been wanting to do for a long time. I just don't know if its the right time period. Its research time.

I was at home depot today. When I pulled I in there was a truck and on the side it said Bish's Plumming and Heating. Your really branching out Bish LOL

Ken: That is some great work on your dio. The figures are really well done and look terrific. Your cobblestone came out excellent and certainly looks the part.

I'm all in for the '46 GB. I have some choice USN candidates in the form an F8F Bearcat, F7F Tigercat, PB4Y Privateer and a Martin AM-1 Mauler. Likely will be a toss up between the Tigercat and the Mauler.

As for my progress on the P-47, I pretty much have the cockpit painting and detailing completed. I'll get some pics up by tomorrow.

Okay Gents, It's time to infuse this here GB with some long over due activity from my bench. I've finally completed the cockpit. Once all the painting, drybrushing and detailing was done I hit it with a gloss coat of Mr. Super Clear Gloss. I followed this with oil washes of either black/brown or medium gray, which ever was appropriate. A flat coat of Mr. Super Clear Flat was applied followed by a light dusting of iso alocohol tinted with some Tamiya light gray to blend it all together and complete the flat appearance.

Thanks for having a look guys. I'm looking forward to more progress from you all.
