After mulling it over, I've decided not to do the P-47N.  Put me down for an Academy 1/48th scale F4U-4B (another dog of a kit so I've read, but it was free).  I may convert her over to a C version, or an imaginary D to help explain some of the inaccuracies in the kit.  This is the perfect time to build her as who will be able to say that the aircraft doesn't meet the imaginary design?  .  That's the plan, anyway.

well i need to do a boat and not a 1/350 carrier for that GB so how about something different. Revell FDNY THE FIREFIGHTER fire boat. launched in 1938, fought the NORMANDIE fire in '43. capable of 22, 000 gallons of water a minute.

Wayne, I like the look of that. And not only does that give us another ship, but also our first none military subject. I think I am write in believing this is not a What If build but an historical one from 46. And it will be really nice to see that 264. What scale is the Fireboat by the way, I can't see it on the package.

fireboat is box scale looks like 1/85 (close enough for HO scale figures but some come with the kit).

i have to fill the wings of the 264 and create some type of heavy attachment peg and hole in the fusalage so the wings stay on.

Matt, is that an AM conversion set for that kit. I have seen it converted into a 2 seater before, but not the B-1.

Hey Bish,

German aircraft in French markings. The 190 I've entered in the 1945 GB is my second French one, and I'm nearly finished a 108 (or Nord Pinguin) in the Weekend Madness GB.

The Belgian Spitfire I've entered here goes towards my Belgian collection, currently only populated by a solitary Hawher Hunter, and also my foreign Post war Spitfires collection, to join a Swedish and a Turkish Spitfire XIX.

All this looks like good fun, I can't wait to crack them open.

And I wonder at some accounts you'd think the only aircraft the USAAF operated were the P-51 and B-17. I'm a much bigger fan of the P-40, P-38, and P-47.

I grimace on 'Saving Private Ryan' at the P-51 'tank-busters' - ok I guess they used what they had and it was better than a CGI P-47 or Typhoon but still I wonder if they tossed it in since the Mustang is the only fighter most American viewers have heard of.

BTW: If I finish the Japanese tank in time maybe I'll toss in a Hawker Tempest to compensate for BD's Seafire?

Why, how dare you say the P-51 is ugly!  It's beautiful, graceful, witty and charming! It's the greatest aircraft ever built in the history of the world (even if it does have a British engine in it).  I'd let my daughter marry it!   You, sir... dare I say it... are unAmerican!

Lol, you and Steve are right, I dunno why I never liked the looks of the P-51 but I've never found anyone who agreed with me here. It's just something about the squared off wingtips and tail that makes the whole thing look angular and boxy to me.
