Some more work on the Mariner and started the base. The kits fit is excelent!
The base will be small, just encompassing the fuselage. The wings will extend far beyond the base.
I started it my usual way, with Styrofoam and paper attached with acrylic gel. The hole is obviously for the fuselage.

Hello everyone....sorry I haven't been much of a presence lately. I have been working a ton of overtime and been doing a lot of training assignments also. Been missing my work bench (lol). Just as easy way to wrap the bottom of seat around the metal ring structure :) 

I prefere to use plastic ,easier to paint and cut, but in some way aluminium give better results

I finally got started on the Seiran. It's been a while since I haven't played with a Tamiya kit and forgot how well they fall together.

Got the pit assembled and painted. The instructions say that the pit is grey. I did some research and the Seiran had a "Bamboo Green" pit color and Tamiya XF71 is a good match. To make the oil wash flow better on to the raised details, I mixed Future with the XF71 to get a glossy green paint. This way I did not have to go the extra step to spray clear gloss over the pit. I then mixed up some Burnt Umber oil paint with turp to make a wash. Now to let it dry and it will receive a light coat of flat lacquer to even out the finish. I will also add some Eduard belts to dress up the seats.

I painted the rear IP Vallejo black and drybrushed the raised details white to pop them up.

I painted the IP and added clear parts cement for the glass faces.

I'm glad you are back on your feet, so to speak. Looks like you are definately starting to make headway on this one. I always thought this plane looked like a whale without a tail. Looking forward to seeing it with its wings.

Jack-  even though I have been following the thread, and watching the builds, it never really hit me just how small the critter is till the pic of it in the palm of your hand.  As everyone has has said, TOP NOTCH.  Way beyond anything I could ever hope or dream of doing

Earlier today I finished shooting some Floquil Old Silver on the Jake in preparation for some hairspray so I put the little plane on the table we have out by the pool to dry.

Apparently my Rottie/Lab was so fond of the little guy that she grabbed it while I wasn't looking and............ 

So please put me down for a 1/48 Tamiya Aichi Seiran.

PJ, thank you. Ye, it is a bit crammed in there. And across from the radio operator is what i take to be the navigators position. I have been woundering what it would be like on the water.

I was able to look earlier today but couldn't reply, and like PJ, i had to look twice at the first pic. I was hoping you would do somthing as you have now and you have not dissapointed.

Yeah, I ran into a stubling block in trying to create a picture with period setting/background.  Updated my photo software to a newer version, and of course, all the applications I use in the creative process have been changed - not just toolbars, but the methods and even some names!  So I reinstalled  my previous version and came up with a new photo, replacing the first one I had originally posted.

Looks fantastic! As I said earlier, I have had no luck assembling Small Stuff's engines. My hat's off to you for accomplishing that, and the rest is just great.

The interior is looking great. The seated crew gives it a sence of scale as it looks cramped in there. I could imagine the bouncing aroud while landing or taking off in a moderate chop.

Well, calling my entry here done. 

To recap, this was HR Model's 72nd scale Hanriot HD.2, along with a PE set from 72minute, and Small Stuff resin engin. 

These floatplanes were stationed at CAM Dunkirk (Centre de Aviation Maritime de Dunkerque) beginning October 1917.  The squadron's badge was the martlet bird, and they were tasked with protecting the harbour as well as escorting recon.

Bish, that is a lot of work on the interior, its neat how detailed it is and that is going to be one nice model when done.

bsyamato, those seats look fantastic.  Great idea with the tape.

As far as my progress on the Goose, well, I cleaned the storeroom this weekend in my workshop and found a picture frame for my base that will fit the plane, a dock, and yet won't be too big for my shelf.  Other then that, nothing has progressed. Graduation, landscaping, work, life, and all that jazz has taken priority.  Summer will be here soon with super hot, humid afternoons perfect to spend down in the cool basement workshop.
