Hi Bish, what a great scene you've put together around the Dornier.  Really nice rendering on the aircraft and concrete, as well as that wooden dolly. Yes

Being a landlocked dweller, I do have a general question about the concrete slabs.  Are they all on a slope leading into the water, or just that final row (that is mostly under water)?   If it's the latter, you have a cool Escher effect happening in that corner.

regards,

Jack

Bish, outstanding finish, I really really really like what you did with the kit and the display. Awesome sauce !!! Which pic do you want on page one?

Steve, wowzers, that looks great and those props are super nice and very realistic. I can't wait to see this on its base.

SS, looks great from where I sit. That is gonna be pretty cool. I really like the older float planes for some odd reason, COOL!

I was going to wait until the floats were mounted, but since they're done I thought I'd share it now. I'm still hoping to have the Boeing 1 finished for the Boeing GB in three days, but if not it's still a floatplane, so it fits here as well.

Once again Bish, excellent build.
I completed the Mariner and finishing up the base. I should be done with it and the entire build in a day or two. You can see the base in the background.
The kit is excellent!! Kudos to Academy for a job well done. I had no complaints with the decals and the kit’s fit was outstanding. The only thing to watch for is the nose turret. Most reviews I read on the kit suggested to install the nose turret Plexiglas last instead of trying to shoehorn the entire unit in at the last, however doing this split the seam just in front of the cockpit which needed repair. I would suggest installing the nose turret prior to closing the fuselage.

Thnaks Steve, i did think about ading some white caps, but didn't want to over do it. I might try and add some with some acrylic, i can easily remove that if it don't look right.

Honestly, i don't. Over half my builds are boxe up and stored in the shed. When i make the move i plan to have a lot of shelf space, so should be able to un box them.

Edit: Ok, i couldn't resist. I went out and added some white caps, yep, that look better. Thanks Steve.

Bish,

Another great build Yes. I really need to work on my concrete, yours looks perfect. The water looks superb, you want a few whitecaps.

Where do you find room to display all your great bases?

Time to call this done. For the final touches i added another crewman at the main hatch and a ground crewman guiding the tractor back. Some pars of the Realistic water did not clear up, but i like the effect and for my first water, i am pretty happy with it. I got these two water products mainly for armour dio's, but i think it works perfectly well here as well.

Overall, a nice build. Been a while since i built an Italeri aircraft, and despite its age and lack of interiour detail, i really enjoyed it. One important lesson, get a biger area to take photo's. I'l be moving my modelling up to the spare bedroom after the summer, so no excuse not to have a proper photo setup.

Now, the pics.

My thanks to Brandon for hosting the GB, a great idea. And thansk to everyone for all the comments. I look forward to seeing more of your builds come together through the rest of the year.

Simpilot34, thanks for posting that Seamaster pic!  But I noticed it was not OOTB, as the builder corrected the canopy and added hydraulic lines to the beaching rig.  I think this is the first one I have seen where the canopy was corrected.  I am inspired to continue banging away on my kit.  Thank you sir!

sim, thank you. But no, the idea is that the aircraft is being pushed back into the water. So hopefully the lack of a wet look on the aircraft and the concrete, plus a ground crewman guiding the driver back, will give the right impression.

Nice pic of the Seamaster, its good to see that even a Mach2 kit can look good. I am sure G will do his justice.

Bish I must say WOW, she looks great!! Loving the work you're doing! The base is the bomb! Have a question, are you going to brush on a water effect up the ramp and drips to make it look like it just came out of the water?

Tony looking forward to seeing that Wildcatfish come together!

40mm that is a drastic improvement on the seat!!Yes

RealG those seats will do the office justice thats for sure! they look great! Went to the Model Expo today and guess what was on one of the tables?! Had to share it!

My LHS saves the day when I need a small item pronto.  I phoned in a request for some True Details ESCAPAC seats earlier this week, and boo-yah, they are in my grubby mitts today!

Yes Sprue Brothers ships ultra-fast, but have you tried to order a single small buck item?  And ship it to Hawaii?  Another reason to patronize your LHS.  Big Smile  Now cockpit work can commence!

While killing time, I continued wortking on the tail group.  I only got as far as lopping off the elevators last night.

I'll get along with the reworking of the control surfaces and then post before-after pics to keep from boring everyone.  Same with the cockpit.

Thanks Tony. And your wish is my command.

I didn't make the base how he did, i was only really intersted in the painting part of it. But its a much better colour than what i had been doing.

Bish, your Dornier and the base look outstanding. I'd love to have a look at that tutorial you mentioned about painting concrete too.

MC, your Duck looks great and the water effect has worked really well. That must stand out in your collection. I'm offically in the market for a Duck now.

Cheers

"But Master, is the Dark Side stronger?"

"No, not stronger.  Costs more.  Harder to fit.  More corrections necesary.  Aftermarket accessories you must buy.  Beware the Dark Side.  For once you go down that path, forever will it dominate your model buying habits."

Steve - Your Duck looks great!  I really like the feel of the rough water take-off you have depicted.  You are indeed a powerful Jedi.  A po-werful Jedi...

Bish - The Dornier came out very nice!  I love the beaching dolly too!

I realised last night its been nearly two weeks sinc ei updated. I don't where the time has gone and despite haveing the build nearly complete, i don't seem to have done much. So, here is a short update before the final pics.

The aircrfat itself didn't ned much work to get it finishe. I used some Flory Wash, especially long the water line, to get the look i wanted. Then it was just some exhaust staining and all the last pieces were added.

The beaching trolley is now ready for the aircraft to be added.

And the SS 100 just needs a few more pieces fitted.

And the base has realy come on. I wanted to change from the darker grey concrete i have been doing on aircrfat builds. I found a tutorial online that i really liked the look of so gave that a try.I am much happier with this finish.

And for the wtaers edge, i started with some flory washes and then added some Woodland fine turf for algea and then wodland realistic water. After that dried i use some water effects fr ropples. This is suppose to dry clear but a few bits have stayed white. But i still have a bit more to add to this.

So, just got to finish the water, add everything to the base and a couple more figures.

MC that Quacker looks great! I just don't have the gumption to try a water base...yet! Have a lil stable of floaters that would benefit from it though. Especially an Alaskan seaplane base or something as I have an Otter, Beaver, Norseman, and an An-2 Colt floater.
