Well gang here it is the completed M8. The markings are for a early spring of 45 vehicle. The dio that I build will be towards the end of the war. Any how here they are. Chris I will be emailing them to the mail box,, Leave them there I will post them. I got to learn to do this so here is my chance. I will also get the others that may be there.

Hi Guys, sorry ive been quiet on this build. progress has been slow with work an family stuff getting in the way. the 1/72 willys jeep is almost done but i have misplaced the steering wheel (typical of me that) i am going to raid my spares box for a replacement. i have striped the landrover kit that i started some years ago because i have more references for this and i have made mistakes with it. plus tamia have got the mix for the SAS pink panthers unique color wrong. the info i have came from their base at hereford via a landrover magazine and it states the mix was mat white with a small amount od red oxide primer and this varied from vehicle to vehicle. the pinkie that i am going to model is serialed 10FG88 that was recently discovered derelict in Botswana and brought back to the UK for restoration by landrover enthusiast magazine www.landroverenthusiast.com (if you follow the link to "Dave Mitchells landcraft" this is a model shop with diecast and model landrovers and other off road stuff in all scales from 1/72 to 1/18th. and some radio control ones that are larger that that too. seeing their real pinkie in bits is a case of reference overload!!! all the builds i've seen on this GB look great (even though i am a flyboy and don't know much about wheelie thingies).

When you get older you will just substitute 'work and overtime' for 'school and study'. Take your time with the build. Enjoy it, don't feel pressured to finish and run the risk of being disappointed. Early best wishes for the B-Day; fingers crossed for the Badger.

Nope Chris. The dear ol' Daimler is open topped and you will see all. (The Mk 1 and Mk 2's were built with an armoured roof but the Mk 3 had a canvas cover 'cause the troops never used the armoured roof if they could avoid it - just think about head clearance and bumpy roads

The seat has been fixed. The backrest has been replaced and the wire replaced by ship riging thread. Looks better now. When the radio and other stuff is done I'll post another pic of this area.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone. By the way, I've had this kit a looong time. Price on box is $6-59 AUD (about $4.60 USD). Ah, those were the days.

Well Gang.. as promised,, Pics. So far this build is going along as planned with no major modifications as of this moment. Started useing Tenax 7R on this build and this stuff is really a god send. Especially since I was using Testors glue before. No more glue strings to clean up.

Peter awesome looking interior there man. Who says we cant make these little vehicles look good.

T34 Your rad 8 is looking good man. Hopefully mine will be here in the next day or two. Also as far as your question of the rad 8 in Normandy. I am not positive but I do have a source that can get the answer for you. Will post you the answer as soon as I get it.

T3488G, Nice work on the undercarriage. You could always save it for a later dio. Dioramas can change a fair bit before you finish them, so see how it pans out. Glad to hear you are enjoying the kit; they have been reissued, so I hope to see them in my LHS soon, as I wouldn't mind doing one.

JKeller: very nice work. Great detail painting underneath. Looking forward to seeing it done. What theatre are you putting it in? I forget.

My 223 is well on it's way now. Going through final assembly and weathering. I am not going to put it on a base for now, as I haven't found any figures I like yet, so hopefully I should have something to show in a week or so.

T34 - how about a "what if dio" for your Caen idea. Ie, what if the SdKfz234 didn't exist or what if D-Day occured years earlier.

Well time to post some pics of what I've been up to while repainting the cursed Achilles.

This is the old Tamiya 1/35th Daimler Scout Car. So far I have added most of the internal details such as correct floor panels, pedals, gear lever assemblies, weapons and equipment racks, etc. It is all made from scratch from fuse wire, Brass sheet and Styrene strip and rod. Still need to do the radio and battery for under the rear shelf, and a couple of stowage boxes around those things.




The rear harness of the swivel seat looks shocking in close up, so I will do this properly but posted the pic now anyway.

would it be very inaccurate to have an 8-rad in caen/normandy? i was originaly going to have this ko'd, buy i like this kit too much for that........ so i changed my plans to bogged down. i'd hate to not put this in my dio, it was the reason i bought it. hummmmmmmm.

Here is some progress pictures on the Quad. Since last time I finished up the tires and scratch built the tire rack. Comments and suggestions welcome.

T34. The side doors and visors were painted inside the same colour as outside unlike the pics of the restored vehicle on the www.jagdtiger.de site. see this and other pics at: www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/.../ SdKfz232I8-R.htm



The 234 series replaced this earlier 232 series as from 1940 so Panzer gray is the colour unless you want to depict an Afrika Corp Vehicle. You would need to find some obscure references to find one in Normandy or Caen.

If you can find someone with 'Ground Power #6 June 2000, they should be able to help with internal pics - I only have #7 July 2000 and that has the 234 series. Basically it was a clear floor and two driver positions (one front and one rear). You would need some detail for the lower turret area too. (Close one door and stick a figure in front of the open door and you can sneak this one passed the rivet counters. Ha. Ha)
