I got the plug wires inserted into the cylinder heads over the period of a couple of days. Part of the problem was the routing but I got it down I think.
I also adhered the manifold to the engine. I ended up using a dab of GM sealer at the ends of the intake manifold just like I do in real life when I install an intake. Who needs those stupid end seals??!! Just install the runner gaskets and run a bead of GMS along the "China Walls" and plop 'er down!!

Thanks Joe!

Well the good word is that my wife is home with us now! :D She now starts the next chapter in her recovery as we set up her therapy here in Corpus and begin the doctor visits that will monitor her progress using routine CT scans to ensure everything is still ok. I'd like to thank everyone who has followed along with that progress and has offered their support and prayers for her well being and recovery. We're just taking it one day at a shot here and rolling with the punches but all is very well so far. She walks with no assistance and the casual onlooker wouldn't know she ever had anything happen save for an eye patch for the time being. She'll have double vision for a while but as I understand it that's par for the course and should get better over time.

I will add a bit of humor to the equation here as my son and I were at Walmart in SA just yesterday morning grabbing a bite to eat at McDonalds inside. As we came back out to the car to go back to the hospital I spotted inspiration for my next build right there in the parking lot. It was a daily driver with a  baby seat in the back seat. I couldn't help but to start laughing and thinking that I just had to make this one come to life in model form. I've spotted a body from Perry's resins so far but don't know what kit to pattern it after. Here's the link to the body. http://www.perrysresin.com/catalog/pages/gm_malibuwagon.htm

Does anybody know what kit that's patterned after?

That is great news indeed Joe. I'm am so happy that she is recovering well.

Oh Man, That is way too funny. The part that cracks me up is the fact that it is in handicapped parking. I guess it beats a Hov-A-Round.

Joe, glad to hear that your wife has made it back home and is on her way back to a full recovery! I continue to keep her and your family in my prayers.

I like your next project build looks like it would be a very interesting build. I would make sure to keep the handy cap tag haging from the rear view mirror and the baby car seat in the back.

Good to hear Mrs Mustang is once again at home.

Your future project looks to be a screamer and lots of fun to boot.

Thank you Joe , Dan , Steve, Jim and Hunter. So far so good with my wife.

This morning I got up and started on the throttle linkage. I've about got the dual quad set up all figured out after my 56 Ford that I built recently. This time there will be the benefit of it being more visible though. Pics coming when there is visible progress.

I was hoping to be more along than what I am here but this part took alot of work. First off I added a wiring harness that I still have to do some work on regarding a couple of circuit breakouts from the main harness. I took a piece of telephone wire and stripped the end off of it and used coil winding wire from a GM fuel pump relay to wind around the phone wire to replicate the plastic black conduit that you see on alot of more modern engines. Then I put a terminal end on the alternator cable with a nut glued onto that. After that I started on the throttle linkage by building the bracket and pivot lever (which was four pieces when you count the two PE retaining bolt heads that I glued onto it going into the intake manifold) and got that glued in.

I'm going to put a hold on the fine detail for the time being and build up the headers, paint them and glue those into place so I don't have to handle the engine very much when installing the rest of the throttle linkage and fuel delivery pieces.

Progress pics:

I'll be using braided fuel line like this:

and anodized fittings like this (I've already got these on order BTW Wink) to replicate the fuel delivery system:

Oh Baby, that is a thing of beauty. The AM parts your coming up with are really mind boggling. They'll sure look great when you get them on.

I was going to delete this picture from my camera but decided at the last minute to keep it because it's a clearer shot than I thought it was. At first glance it looks like the same stuff but clearly visible in this pic is the work that I completed this morning in regards to the throttle pivot shaft bracket assy on the rear carburetor and the throttle linkage at the intake. You can't really see the gap between the bracket and the manifold with the naked eye but you sure as hell can see it with the macro setting! lol.

In any case....todays update (it took me two and a half hours to get this done this morning!)

Image

A little closer. That bracket consists of four pieces: 1) the standoff bracket itself 2&3) the retaining nuts for the bracket to carburetor and for the bracket to the shaft pivot mount at the other end and 4) the shaft pivot mount assy. Believe me.........that's two and a half hours worth of work!!!

I'm just delighted to learn that Mrs Joe is home, my friend. Also glad I happened to check up on your thread here so I found out, albiet a few days late. Best wishes as always.

On your engine, sorry to repeat but...... that's the kind of detail automotive modeling work I always dreamed of doing . This is just incredibly fun and inspiring to follow along. When the urge finally hits, it's reassuring to know I have a buddy out there who will help me along.

Ha ha re the Walmart car. :)
