No worries, Skull. Took me awhile to find the answer.

I'll be posting my question as soon as I can.

Okay then, one for the BattleTech crowd, but others can hop right in. Mischief [:-,]

Which of the Clans became the Not-Named Clan, and why?

Wolverine is correct, but you need more than "destroyed for some reason."

Skonch, how this works is that when you correctly answer a question you get to ask your own

Well the Battletech wiki claims some other political intrigue/dissidence bs, but from what I remember from the books they were wiped out for using nuclear weapons.

Edit:  Upon further reading, I guess someone thought that the reason needed fleshing out so they were supposedly rebelling against Kerensky's rule of the clans and used the nuke to wipe out a Snow Raven genetic repository.

Fokker1138, you have the gist of the answer, so I will accept it. For those of you wanting the whole story:

The Wolverines were a tad miffed that the Council awarded a disputed Brian Cache to the Widowmakers, so they attempted to seize it for themselves and were publically censured after losing the Trial of Refusal. They challenged the ruling and made it personal with Kerensky himself, and seceded from the Clans. This is when they used the nuke, and were then slated for annihilation by the other Clans.

Yeah, the novels never went into detail, just alluded to the fact that they used nuclear weapons and made it sound like that was why they were annihilated.  I guess Wizkids decided to flesh the story out more in the rpg books.

As far as a question, give me a minute(read 24 hours) to figure something out.  I want to think of something not easily googled.  Unless you want to toss the win to the original answerer of the question.

Okay, this one is probably pretty easy to come up with, but what the hell.  What DVD version of the original Star Wars Trilogy can you find the unaltered original theatrical version on?  None of the "Special Edition" crap added.

I need to remember, but there WAS a DVD set of the triology that had either version.

Fokker1138: if I'm not mistaken, that would be the 2006 DVD original trilogy release, each two-disc set of each film featuring the original and remastered (non-spec-ed) versions.

It's been a long time since I read this.  Didn't some of the Wolverines escape and show up latter in raids on the innersphere with 333 patches?  Or was that Clan Mongoose?

ikar01, the Wolverine survivors that escaped were later suspected of being known as the Minnesota Tribe. Good memory.

I'm not sure about those, I'd have to dig them up.  I remember at the time there was some big brewhah over the fact that they were reframing certain scenes to remove part of the original footage because Lucas didn't like the guard getting blasted in the detention center and some other crap like that.  I for one am pissed as all hell about that whole greedo fires first bs.  Any way, the one I was thinking of was the Star Wars Limited Edition set.  It has the "Special Edition" though they don't label it as such anymore and on the second discs it has the original theatrical release. I'll have to see if I can hunt down those original 2006 releases to check.

I think that was the name of one of their ships they got away with.  Was Mongoose absorbed or was it destroyed?

The use of a nuke was the same reason that Smoke Jaguar was selected for extermination by the Innersphere invasion fleet and why the other clans were not that willing to help them during the attack unless they were attacked.

Clan Mongoose attempted to use their own view of Kerensky's words to sidestep, justify and defend against a Grand Council ruling that their actions were "un-clanlike." Deemed unfit to continue by the Council, they were targeted for a Trial of Absorption. Already weakened by a conflict with the Star Adders, Clan Mongoose fell before the Smoke Jaguars. The Smoke Jaguars refused to take any of the defeated Clan's genetic legacies but they were acquired by the Cloud Cobra, as were the Bloodnames of Clan Mongoose.
