Its 8.50pm, pouring with rain and the forecast tomorrow is for more rain and cold (you wouldn't think its spring). However this means I can spend all afternoon in front of the TV tomorrow watching Bathurst Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]

Man, wish I could stare at the tele for a day.
But wouldn't watch that V8 rubbish, F1 is the way to go!!!!!!
Every man and his dog can own a V8, but only rich people and psychopaths own V12'sSmile [:)]

My day will consist of draining and scrubbing the spa, missus asked me to do it 3 years ago, so no hurry.Clown [:o)]

Then might do some more decaling on the Sabre, watch some research dvd's, check out the resin kit my Dad just gave meBig Smile [:D], and bide my time till the Japan F1 race tonight!!!

Got that right mate. The F1 is the way to go. Much more interesting. I don't mind the V8's though, but I couldn't watch them for 6 or 7 hours straight. Too bad Bathurst will probably delay the F1. Should be a good race.

mg - That PBY is looking great. The paint job is very nicely done. It'll look awesome in a diorama.

Mike, True Details don't do a resin set in 1/32 for the Sabre, but Eduard do a detail set (32027) for the Hasegawa F-86F-40 Sabre .

The URL for Snowy Mountain Models is http://www.smmodels.com/

Has anyone thought about or already done any research into Keith Miller's (Cricket Legend who recently passed away) Mosquito that he flew in WWII? I've had a search but can't find anything.

You guys must be reading my mind.

I have started to do a bit of research on Miller, but the details are a bit scant at this stage. What I have found out to date is:

In 1942 Miller joined the RAAF and qualified as a pilot that November. Travelling to England via America, he met Peggy Wagner, his future wife, in Boston, Massachusetts.
In England "Dusty" Miller (as he was known in the RAF) flew Tigers and Beauforts, before becoming a Mosquito pilot with No 169 Squadron. I don't know exactly when Miller joined 169 Sqn, but I'll keep looking.

In January 1944 169 Squadron received its operational equipment in the form of Mosquito Mk.II night fighters and these were immediately used to begin night intruder operations against German night fighters both in advance of the bomber stream and against enemy airfields. The squadron used Mosquito MK.II until July 1944 when they upgraded to the Mosquito Mk.VI. The squadron refitted with the Mosquito Mk.XIX in Jan of 1945.

The Mosquito Mk.II's and Mk.VI's carried the squadron code VI.

I'll keep looking to try and dig up some further info on a particular aircraft that Miller flew.

Cheers

The 2OCU boys would have loved that, that type of problem usually means an engine stripdown at the least after the got rid of the bees.

Must be something about bees and aircraft engines for at Laverton in the early 80s they found a complete and active beehive in an engine of one of the old A model Hercs that had been stored there pending disposal.
Wayne I enjoy getting older, especially when I consider the alternative.

Hmmmm, getting scary Jules.

Have been looking at the Williams F1 car for a while now, trying to pluck up the courage to show the missus (read-shadow treasurer)

I'd prefer to do the Mclaren, but havent actually seen a kit based on it.
Or maybe I haven't looked hard enough!

Tamiya have the 1/20 Williams BMW Fw 24 clear view is a really nice kit.Big Smile [:D] It is the one with the P/E, white metal fuel tank and brake calipers, C/F decals. this version is for the Italian G.P. It retails for between $80 to $85 AUD. Their is also a staraight out injection moulded kit for between $50 to $60 AUD. I don't think it has the C/F Decals. It is for the German G.P. The difference in the 2 is the wings. tweety1 tamiya did release an mclaren from between 98 to 00 but i have not seen one for a few years, their is all so a 97 Mclearn done by revell germany. In regards to 60's cars tamiya have done a honda which done the 67 USA G.P and their is a lotus. Their is also a tamiya kit of the Willams Fw 07 which is the car that Alan Jones drove to his world championship in the B variant in 1980. Hope this is useful. The below site has detials about these kitsBig Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]

Congrats on the wedding Chris, so when do you get parole???Wink [;)]Clown [:o)]

Trev, you may not be too clued in with the wingy thingys, but you are definately the model car guru!Bow [bow]Bow [bow]

I really want someone to make a kit of the McLaren 4/19, but I cant see that happening anytme soon.

I would like too say now, I am sick to death of all the Ferrari kits floating around, and if Mercedes had gotten their Censored [censored] together from the start of this season, Schumi and Kimi would be neck and neck for the championship!!!!
