As advertised, here be the gems I've accrued over the past couple of months.

As I mentioned to John, I've been on a Ki-84 Hayate kick as of late. Not to mention a few other Japanese aircraft. Franks first.

And no sooner than I had got these I find Arma Hobbies new release. This sent me into cartwheels and subsequently onto the couch in pain. I have already pre ordered this box of sweetness.

Then a 1/48 Raiden to boot.

A couple of nice FB auction scores:

Then some choice ebay acquisitions:

And lastly, after 2 years of Covid isolation from traveling the wife and I made the 100 mile drive to Grand Junction, Co. This meant I finally got to visit my friends at my LHS. It was so refreshing to buy some kits there again. These came home with me.

Well, that is all for now. Looking forward to further new kits from you all.

Thanks for having a look.

Joe

How in the wide wide world of sports did I let 2 months go by without updating my gains let alone acknowledge everyone elses wonderful additions? Good Grief!!!Indifferent Well, I best be to getting as caught up as possible.

Let me start by saying that you all have been immensely impressive in your stash packing endeavors.

Bish: Yeah, I may be going all the way back to jan. but, I have to commend you on picking up the Arma Widcat and the Eduard Hellcat. I am in total agreement about the Eduard 1/72 Hellcat. It is hands down the best kit I've built to date. I acquired another in the new boxing as well. Can't wait to get into my Wildcat. Overall, you have done very well in all of your new buys.

Steve: Sure like the dio additions as wellas the figures. No doubt you will put them to good use.

John: Holy smokes son! You have been incredibly prolific and all over the place. Some really outstanding adds. The older Tamiya Hayate is sweet. You'll see here shortly that I've gone a bit Frank happy lately. The 1/144 Connie, Typhoon, Macchi 205, 217k and the U-boat are sick also. Seriously, just too much to mention. It is all good my friend.

Stik: Good to see you adding quality armor at a steady rate. You always find really intriguing subjects. Enjoy that you got yourself an F7F Tigercat. Those are still rather decent kits

Real G: Always there with the odd and esoteric. Sushi. Who'd a thunk it. The Sea Dart is definitely neato. Cool stuff Bro.

Aggieman: Well done on scoring the big B-58. I'd love to go that route but, alas, space is my undoing.

Keyserj: I see that you have been doing quite well yourself. Love the Deathstar/ Star Destroyer combo.

PFJN2: Nice haul you got yourself. The Arizona is certainly to my liking. I really like the Charleston Navy Yard Dry Dock. Super cool!

Gamera: Leave it to you to find "cute" in a tank. Cool little subject indeed. Now I'm waiting to see what you find that comes across as adorable.Wink

cbaltrin: You can never go wrong with any 1/72 P-47 and P-40. Love it!

Crown: That Roden Bus is choice. That ought to be a rather fun build.

Tojo: Sweet Paladin.

Glamdring: Solid score on the Opel Blitz hovercraft.

PatW: Those are some neat Lego sets. Very cool.

Whew! I hope I got nearly everyone. It really is a whole lot of fun to continually see what everyone finds. I'll update my additions right directly.

Cheers All, Joe

John: Nice haul- that's a good kit. And the stand looks like a big improvement over my wedging decal setting bottles in a the corner of a kit box to make sure they don't tip over.

Looks like fun Pat

There's a dude on ebay out of China that goes by jazhobby.  Lot's of great prices if you're willing to wait a month+ for shipping.  Got this Frank for 19 delivered.

Poking around on ETSY I found this GEM!!!! no more spilling.

Check his stuff out here:

Cool stuff guys!

Aggieman: The Ju-188 is an odd kit. I'm building the original boxing of the Dragon E-1 version and it's been an interesting jouney for me. The detail is excellent but the fit is kinda bad. I've been using LOTS of putty and sanding.

Robert: That blows about the artist losing his life.

Pat: Wow, didn't even know LEGO did a Vespa, that's pretty cool.

Our eldest son (53) in Calgary sent me a LEGO E-Gift voucher for my birthday last week (74). After buying online the box arrived a few minutes ago from Belgium 3 days later. The kit has 1106 parts, and box is 19" long 11" wide and 5" deep! These large kits always come with a free gift, in this case some flowers!

I had this little gem arrive in the mail yesterday:

Ordered it on a whim after I saw the box artist was killed in Ukraine.  I wish the box hadn't arrived so dinged up, I would have liked to frame this one.

Nice.  I just got that same Typhoon kit.  Curious how the Ju188 goes together.  Looks nice - repop of the Dragon kit.

Thanks,

John

Took it another decade to get over here, but those tabacco sponsors were booted out of our racing scene, especially NASCAR, by the anti smoking crowd.

Thanks Joe and John. Joe the quality is superb, I've already built a racing BMW M3 from the same manufacturer. No John the Rothmans logo was not allowed. There were problems advertising tobacco products in the 80's specially in the Far East/Suadi Arabia etc.

That looks awesome Pat.   A 911 rally car is pretty wild!

Isn't it supposed to be Rothmans sponsored?

Thanks,

John

That is a first rate score Pat. I'm sure well worth the wait. Glad it finally arrived in your stable. I'm not overly familiar with that manufacturer. How is the quality?

After 6-12 months on backorder this is finally on it's way!

When our youngest son was 21 we took his Beetle to a specialist 911 builder Frances Tuthill. He did suspension/paint etc to make it ready to show in the Cal-Look class. Two of these were in his workshop along with about twenty other 911's, 914's, and 356's all being restored. His son Richard still supplies classic 911's for racing and rallying.

There's still a lot of Verlinden figures out there, at least in the 120mm scale.  I don't see the aircraft detail sets they made which came with resin, PE and other materials.  Very nice - I still have a couple.

Yeah I've been picking them up here and there. But it's kinda annoying to think that one day they'll all be gone.

If i remember right the Verlinden molds were destroyed when he retired. Seem to recall reading it but can't recall why.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Thanks SP, I thought so. Seems like someone would buy up the molds.

Hope they're not like Meteor Productions. The owner went though a messy divorce and apparently his wife would get half the proceeds of anything he made. So it seems he just destroyed everything so she wouldn't get a cent...

I have heard the 'rubber' wheels on kits like the F7F are completly safe with plastic if you paint the plastic wheel hulls and coat them with a nice thick layer of varnish to seal them from the effects of the 'rubber' material. Not sure, never tried it myself. I have the same F7F kit and bought the aftermarket set of resin tires to go with mine. One day, oh one day I'll build the darn thing...

Thanks guys!

Gamera, as far as I know, Verlinden is out of business, and whatever you can find is old stock.

John, I really like Miniart figures. All the ones that I've build and painted so far have turned out well. They require a bit of mold seam clean up, but the sculpting, detailing, and poses are excellent.

I've been looking for this kit for a while

Thanks,

I have been missing some stuff here.

Gotta love Italian AC

Nice Tigercat Stick. Love the figures as well.

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Ooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

Cool stuff- love the Typhoon and MC.205 John- I love Italian WW2 paint schemes, the smoke ring decals sound like a BIG time saver.

And cool figures SP! I need to check out that Jeep crew myself. And is Velinden still in production or is that just old stock still selling out?

Nice scores John! Gotta love that Veltro!

Aggie, thanks for the tip on the wheels. I have heard that before about the rubber tires and plastic rims. It's a crying shame that True Details is not producing right now. Otherwise it'd be a quick fix for those wheels.

Had a few more additions to my stash over the past week or so. For the jeep that was gifted to me I picked up this nice crew figure set

and for my one of my 80’s Cold War US tanks…

Well, another eBay score has arrived.

I had been wanting this kit for awhile.

That is a nice kit.  But I think that is the release that included rubber tires that would not play well with styrene.

I had to go into the city to get my YukonXL serviced.. happens to be a block away from a great local hobby shop...

Been wanting a Typhoon for some time

This one comes with the smoke ring decals

And this just caught my eye - AND the LHS carries some MCW paints so I picked up what looked to be the right green (and an AlcladII aluminum and a small bottle testors silver)

Outside of 2 or 3 kits I have coming from overseas/pre-order I'm putting the brakes on the acquisitions for now... we'll see  :giggles:

That's the same Typhoon kit I just acquired.  Will be building it later this year alongside an Eduard Tempest.
