Not a kit, but our local Waitrose store is stocking Hot Wheels. So saw this and liked it, the race circuit is actually Suzuka.

I love looking at the modified Hot Wheels but can't find any parts in the UK.

Aggieman:

The Revell (Monogram) 30th anniversary re-releases of the Colonial Viper and Cylon Raider still came with the launch ports (i.e. open holes) that were there in the original releases for shooting plastic missiles. So, yes, the originals from back in 1978 with that particular toy-like feature. I have a vague memory of when I built both those kits back around 1979/80 of having to put together some sort of internal elastic band firing mechanism before sealing the models up. Of course with toy quality of the era being questionable at best the launchers fired maybe a dozen times or so before either a plastic part inside broke or the elastics got overstretched and became effectively useless from loosening up too much.

I just did an online scroll through the Mattel BSG toys as well. I had one of the Colonial Viper Launchers from Mattel - it was this rifle-like apparatus that could fire a pair of foam Vipers at cardboard cut-outs of Cylon Raiders. They were entirely inaccurate at hitting the cutouts but they sure could fly like a son of a gun when fired. I'm pretty sure my one broke after maybe a couple of months of goofing around with it. Gotta give Mattel credit for their creativity in making up some of those toys, even if the quality of 1970's plastic products basically ensured that none of the toys would last for very long when they ended up in a kid's hands.

Some more recent shopping:

The last of the original boxing Monogram 1/48 kits that I will get -

Corsair

White box Monogram Helldiver.  The reason I went for the white box over the original boxing from the early 60s has to do with a memory of getting to go to stay with my grandmother, who took me to a local store called Bottom Dollar, and there was this immense row of model airplanes.  My memory is all these blueish warplanes.  4-year-old me was in awe (and got to bring one home to boot, although I don't recall if it was the Helldiver, but I do recall that kit being on that glorious row of kits).

Then some more nostalgia kits, all Monogram (well, one is ex-Aurora I think)

This one is ex-Aurora if I remember right.  What I do recall is a couple of years in a row, I would get really sick in the early fall and miss a bunch of school.  My mom brought this one and the Flying Sub home one day to help with the loads of homework she also brought from the school.

And then in the wake of Star Wars, must-watch TV was Battlestar Galactica.  I probably built 3-4 each of these in those couple of years.

I want to say that these Galactica kits had internal mechanisms for firing plastic rockets, but perhaps I'm remembering some Mattel toys rather than these models.

The UFO and Raider came in the same lot and still had price tags of < $5.00 from a place called Toyorama.

The Korean war HobbyBoss F4U-4 didn't come with any ordinance.  These look fiddly but nice.

And I couldn't pass this up when I saw it!  Reskit M230 chain gun

Well keavdog, I've yet decided what decals if any to show on a commercial pick-up truck! We'll have to see what mess I make of the conversion first!

Now before that......

One NuNu Volvo S40 BTCC, 1997 Brands Hatch Winner. Pre-ordered in January 2022, in stock today and delivered. One year and ten months ago!

Pat, that should be interesting to see how you accomplish.  Are you going to make it a hippie truck using all those decals?

Earlier last week during the 20% sprue brothers sale I snagged the A321Neo for $17 and stocked up on Alclad

This weeks orders showed up

Had the wrong canopy masks for the Texan I'm working on.  Decals for the Airbus321 neo arrived.  And pretty excited to score this Corsair set to do either Hudner or Browns Corsair.  Don't have too many Korean war subjects. I have the HobbyBoss kit in the stash

Thanks,

John

Oh wow those are nice Aggieman!

Love the Shuttle, I had two kits back when I was a kid but both were much smaller.

A few more have come in over the last several weeks:

Even though I already had the initial Eduard F4F-3, I had wanted to build an FM-2, so I went ahead and got this one.

A few more eBay scores:

Original boxing Monogram Mosquito:

Original boxing Monogram Hurricane:

One that I've long wanted to build, a space shuttle.  When I found this for less than $30 total, I snapped it up.

I also acquired another Monogram P-47D (bubble top), but won't be taking a box photo since it came in a "Young Modeler's Club" box with no artwork.  I only got that one because one of the other boxings of this kit that I have is missing a gear door.  As it turns out, this YMC boxing is missing a different gear door, but between all of boxings I have of this one, I should have every thing I need to perhaps mold the 2 missing parts myself (which will be a first for me).

Just this week, I welcomed my first grandchild into this world!  Our oldest and his wife delivered a healthy baby boy on Tuesday this week.  So I think my acquring all these old original boxings of Monogram kits has been done with my grandson in mind.  Just gotta give him a few years.

Also picked up a set of FOD covers for a 1/32 F-15E Eagle that I will be building once I get the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 TOS off my workbench.

Oh wow nice stuff guys!!!

And your friend got to meet Tamiya-san Real G!!!!!!

I am green with envy!!!

Well, more green than usual......

Yeah we were all green.  Super green with envy.

It was just by chance too.  My friend said when he saw Mr Tamiya, they smiled and bowed, and then Mr T came over and started a conversation.  They must have hit it off well, because he was invited to have lunch with Mr T and his staff.  Afterwards he was given a private tour of the facilities by the designers and engineers!

Urayamashii (envious).

Ben,

WOW, full gang-banging acessories... you won't see that in a new tol release!  When other modelers see those "extras", they are going to want to have... a piece of the action:

"Right Spocko?"

"Riiiight."

WOW Real G, that would sound like an ultimate modeling vacation, with lunch to boot.

I bought this kit early in my modeling tenure (around 1966) and botched it all up, but I really liked the kit. Here we are today with a re-release so I just had to have it again. Perhaps I can do just a little better on the build this time. Check out the "goodies" that come with it!

Very cool Mecha stuff Neal! I look forward to when you show them off after building them!

Then for my aircraft I had been wanting one of the old Revell 1/32 FW-190D's for along time, and again found a good deal for one

Hey Stik, it will be interesting to see you dive into that Dora - I was still in elementary school the last time I saw a fresh one on the shelf!

A friend who lives in Japan visited this weekend bearing gifts (omiyage), and in traditional Japanese fashion, my cup runneth over.

A "buggy" looking mobile suit from "Victory Gundam:

A Desert Type Zaku, my favorite Zaku variant:

A Barzam from "Advance of Zeta", much nicer than the original from "Zeta Gundam", which looked like someone pulled a wedgie on it:

A nice, tiny 1/200 model of the 1:1 Gundam that stands in Yokohama:

And finally, a shogun dude that is given to visitors who tour the Tamiya Shizuoka factory:

My overly generous friend also had lunch with Mr Tamiya, the lucky bugger!

Are you doing a Kingfisher??  Cool - I have all the stuff to do one.

AND - speaking of T-33s, which kit are those decals for?  There's the old hawk and derivatives and the newer GWH.  Need one for my trainer collection so I'm told Stick out tongue

I have the Hi Tech Kingfisher version in my stash to do one day. I am thinking of just adding other details from my spares and scratched from Evergreen styrene to dress it up more, plus a resin engine that I've picked up. The decal set has the marking for USS Arizona Kingfishers from just before the attack. Thas my plan... just dont know when yet...

I have the Hobbycraft Korean War T-33 in my stash for this decal set. The kit decals are weak. And yes, you do need a T-33 in your trainer collection... Wink

Very cool Mecha stuff Neal! I look forward to when you show them off after building them!

So I have been doing lots of small purchases since my last update post on here, and now I have enough that's worth looking at...

For my 1/35 armor I picked up all these accessories/AM items... brass 20mm barrels for a quad Flak 38, brass engine deck screens for my current Panther project, a transmission for my Marder III to fill the open space in there, some ModelKasten T-34 tracks, and some Value Gear stowage... because you never can have enough of that stuff!

and this LAV-R, which I had been wanting for years and a guy on Armorama was selling off for a great price

Then for my aircraft I had been wanting one of the old Revell 1/32 FW-190D's for along time, and again found a good deal for one

and some decals for the Dora, plus for a few other aircraft in my stash...

Gamera,

Thanks for posting the lobster sushi photo.  Now I know , and knowing is half the battle.  Big Smile  Crabby mechs do look  cool and appear closer to our near future than bipedal super robots.

Ben,

Watch your footing there - the anime robot kit rabbit hole is steep and slippery!  If you fall in, you may never get out!  The Maschinen Krieger (MaK) kits offer a bridge between armor and sci-fi, and they take well to heavy armor weathering techniques.

This is Wave's 1/20 Gladiator "early type", complete with show shoes, a SAFS powered suit, AND a crewman with a santa outfit:

Never tried it, but I sure liked all shell fish prior to my allergic reaction to it. Now the doctors have me swearing it off less I take a rapid trip to the hospital (sad story).

One of these days I will have to try building one of many Bandai or mechannica robots as they sure look imaginative and futuristic (at least 10-20 years from now) Surprise
