When i was in an armoured Inf battalion, i did wounder why the British army did not deploy SPAAG's as other nations did. I only found out recently that like the US, the British had toyed with the idea back in the 80's. While the US had the Sgt York, we had the Chieftain Marksman. Like the York, it never entered service. Though some of the Marksman turret were sold to Finland who deployed them on T-55 hull and have since now replaced that hull with Leopard hulls.

While we didn't have them for real, i can add the takom kit kit to my growing collection of British armour.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Chad,

I'll find out soon enough about the Corsairs.  Airfix posted some cad models of the new Vulcan on their Facebook page and it looks AWESOME!

TJ,

Nice score on the Cougar!

Joe,

That's a crazy good haul.  Those eBay prices on the GT40 are insane!

Greg

So that's where Joe's been, buying stuff. No wonder all the online stores are sold out of everything. It's Joe's buying spree. (Edit: just noticed Brandon already said that, sorry about the redundancy)

Do tell when you get around to trying the Hataka paints. I love those Russian pastel blues.

That's all neat stuff. That said, that Ford GT looks beyond tempting. I've always loved those things.

Speaking of Ford GT's, my LHS has 4 of the new Tamiya Mustang GT's, and I suspect by next week they will be down to 3 as I have some paint to pick up there Tues. Whistling

Yeah, I kind of went on a binder there Greg.

I've heard good things about Hataka paints and I really like their color sets. I'll keep you updated.

The Tamiya Ford Mustang GT is also on my radar. Sharp kit

Ok, Joe, I need to know how good that GT-40 is, I've been looking for a kit. And, OOFF, you leave anything for the rest of us?

BK

Brandon, The Fujimi kit is really nice. The drawback with them is that they are "curbside" kits, in that they do not have an engine. There are AM engines out there for them but, they are costing a very pretty penny.

Hey, I'll score any deal I can on these kits. It's very hard to find one for under $100.00 with shipping.

It's been nearly a month and a half since I've been able to catch up with what folks have been accumulating. I must say, there has been some seriously amazing and awesome kits and material added to everyone's stash. I regret that I am unable to comment on it all. Just too much to take in. Yet, a "Well Done" is appropriate to ya'll.

I've been bit by bit, adding to my needs and wants. Some are auction wins and some direct orders.

Decided to give Hataka paints a try as they had these nice sets for a few of my subjects. I was excited to see Eduard come out with the LRE P-51 kit. I've always loved the history and markings of these particular aircraft and pilots. Also, I was stoked to score the Fujimi Ford GT40 off ebay for a rather reasonable price. That's hard to do these days. I've also got another one coming that I won at auction. Must say that the ICM Mig-25 and B-26B-50 kits are sweet looking OOB.

Then there are the various kits:

John,

I got the carbon fiber decals through HLJ.  Stuff like that tends to sellout quick so I'd hurry if I were you.  I also have the Revell Motorcraft Mustang GTO in the stash and it looks like it needs some replacement decals.  Looks like another order to Indycals.

Cool stuff GreySnake!

Here're my latest acquisitions.

Two 1/72 Tamiya F-51D kits for my ongoing Mustangs of the World build.  I get the F-51D kit because it includes the uncuffed prop (and ordnance) used on the P-51K.

Two Revell F4U-4 Corsairs and canopy masks.  One is for the Forgotten War GB, the other is for a VMFA-211 collection.

A 1/72 Meng F-102 George Bush edition for a 111th FIS collection.

Studio 27 Carbon Fiber decal set for the Tamiya Mustang GT4.

Markings for the Tamiya Mustang GT4 and Revell Ford GT kit.

Got another one!  Bronco's 1/35 A34 Comet tank arrived from China yesterday.  It looks good - a fairly straightforward build, apart from the individual-link tracks, that is!  I'm really not looking forward to that job.

That kit used to come with one piece tracks but they were a few links too short.

Finally got a Trumpeter E-100 as I think it looks much better than the older Dragon version. Also found a Dragon Panzerkampfwagen VI (P) only five of these were made and only one saw combat. Built one of these when they first came out and for a Dragon kit is was pretty easy. The kit comes with Dragon DS tracks and upon inspection they’ll need replaced as there are some very faint cracks appearing. So this must be a pretty old boxing.

Also picked up this nice ICM 1/48 Po-2 that I’ve been looking for. This will be marked from the Night Witches. Now I only need to find a 1/48 SU-25 Frogfoot and I’ll have all the aircraft models I want.

Picked up this 1/35 resin guy by Evolution on eBay. Not sure what I’ll do with him yet but happy to have him since Evolution figures seem hard to get outside of Russia.

I seem to have been on a bit of a spree lately - I think I'd better curb my enthusiasm for buying kits until I've made some cupboard space to put them in!

     Stay safe,

I read a couple of build reviews lately of the Airfix 1/72 Wellington Mk VIII, both reviewers were enthusiastic about it & singing its praises.  I've always liked the Wimpey & have a Revell one in the stash I bought years ago, when it was released amid great excitement - but it turned out to be the old Matchbox one & never got built!  Anyway, having read the reviews I promised myself a new Airfix one "when I've reduced the stash a bit" - come on, we've all said it!  While in my (not-so-local) model shop the other day, to stock up on paint & glue, I happened across said kit, which accidentally fell unnoticed into my basket so, obviously, I had to buy it.  Luckily there was 10% off!

There are schemes for two aircraft, one based in Libya, in Mid Stone & Light Stone over black, the other based in the UK in Coastal Command colours - I like this one best.  I'm trying to clear the Shelf of Doom a bit just now, in between building a U-Boat for the 50 Shades of Grey GB, and a 1/35 Matilda, so it may be a while before the Wellington resurfaces.

Vell, Zaphod's just zis guy, you know?

Hi,

This came in the mail for me yesterday from Shapeways.

FFG(X)

It's supposed to be the new USN FFG(X) and it looks pretty accurate to me, as far as I can tell.  I sprung for the 1/350 scale version, but opted for a waterline version only, to save some money. Stick out tongue

While not as epic as Real G's Gundam,. I did get a few things in over the last couple of days.  A set of canopy masks for a 1/72 T-6 (Trainer GB) and one for a 1/72 EA-6B.  Some 1/72 US numbers and letters in white and yellow.

I got a knock on my door this morning and found a box containing this when I opened it.

I had planned to order this from HLJ, but a couple of weeks ago they listed it as discontinued and took it off their site.  I googled to see if I could find out why Tamiya would have discontinued such a new release, and saw that HLJ had apparently gotten more in but were limiting the amount you could purchase to one per person.  This may move to the front of the pile, but I'm waiting on a carbon fiber decal set from HLJ, and a livery set from Indycals before I start this.

Chad - Yes it is huge!  By far it is the craziest Gundam kit I will ever buy... pinkie promise.  Wink  The FAZZ simply flies right over the top of sensible design, in a fictitious world where EVERYTHING tries to go over the top!  Kind of makes me think of the "Can Hardly Walk, Man" spoof of the Walkman.

Lewbud -  Yeah it's gonna be a cra~zy build!  But it will be like eating an elephant - one bite at a time.

Gundam Sentinel is the coolest Gundam series without an anime tie-in (yet).  But almost all the designs are kinda crazy.  There is an enemy MS called the Xeku Zwei, which looks like it has a giant hamburger for a backpack, trailing another hamburger, which is in turn trailing two hot dogs!  Paint it all blue and you have a Xeku Zwei.  Stick out tongue

This just popped in, right after hurricane Douglas passed us by!

With the COVID-19 business ongoing, only certain carriers like FedEx and DHL deliver from Japan.  So postage is way higher than I am used to paying, especially for oversize stuff like this.  But I got "lucky" since a couple of small but expensive items came into stock at the same time, so the pain got spread around to a more tolerable level (but still 50% of the total purchase).

I have NO idea where I'm going to put this...

Buddy, I am going to build her as she was at the the battle off Malaysia. I have the older kit (same mold and more crude instructions with the additional Baca bomb) which I'm going to build as Bataan 2, the plane that flew the eight members of the surender delegation team.
