This is what I bought with Mrs. Castelnuovo's gift card for Christmas. Somebody built this on this forum and I liked it.

This arrived via sleigh for the Secret Santa GB just starting.  Got to get an order out for paint, since I don't have any Japanese colors on hand...

Sorry for the out of focus shots.....new camera that I still have to figure out.

Japanese Group Build IX starting middle of next week (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) Wink

Maybe....dug out the Betty from the dark recesses of the closet of doom that never got finished for your GB III or IV.  Got to do something with that before I add another failure to the list.  At least this one has a chance as I don't want to disappoint my Santa.

Not model related but there might be some interest so I'll post this here. Picked up the Criterion Showa Godzilla Blu-Ray Collection as a Christmas present for myself. It's in a booklet form and it's BIG over a foot/30cm in height. They've put in a commentary on each film with a full page cartoon style illustration. The actual Blu-Rays are snugged into the back cover.

Not cheap- I paid a little over a hundred US for mine but it was worth it!

Nice Joe,  those Metal Earth kuts are nice. The tabs are a bit tough to bend though.

Book on water...pffft.  Wink seriously it should be an interesting reference.

When I started making water there was zero info on the subject, the masters were keeping it close to the vest.  Lots of trial and error, and it continues to this day.

GH awesome!  Stagerwings are some of the coolest looking airplanes.

Here is the Tamiya Milestone 100th release of the Storch in 1/48

Another new one, always loved the Staggerwing.

This arrived via sleigh for the Secret Santa GB just starting.  Got to get an order out for paint, since I don't have any Japanese colors on hand...

Also have the new Tamiya P38 that arrive before Christmas, but leaving it in the shipping box for now, too much on the plate.

Oh that's a cool haul there Joe!

Love those manuals, bet there's a lot of useful information in there.

That Metal Earth Corsair though, gives me a headache to look at it. I hate PE on the best of days and a whole friggin' model made of it.... Dead

Good luck!!!

Some mighty outstanding hauls going on here folks. Rather impressive indeed. Especially you Keavdog, Wow!!

Here's my Christmas additions. The P-40 was a Secret Santa gift. All the rest was from my wife. The rivet tool is 1/72 scale. I am happy.

Mopar Madness, you will really enjoy the Famo, the tracks are easy once you get the sequence down. It is an ABSOLUTE beautiful and FUN kit to build. The Dragon Wagon is in the same calibier almost falls together. Enjoy them bot and be-damned the empty boxes.

It's Christmas in... well Christmas!  A timely (but wet) package arrived today from Hobby Terra in the Ukraine!  There must be a disgruntled postal worker somewhere with a bucket of water, as this is the second overseas package I have received that arrived with a smashed end that looked like it had sat in a 6" deep puddle of water long enough to allow the cardboard to decay into loose bits.  The other time it was a package from Hannants in England.  The T-80's box was really smashed, and the instructions and painting guide were ruined.  However, his evil plans were thwarted this time due to the thorough bubble wrap inside - everything was intact and dry!

Sorry no package photo, as I have already disposed of the soggy carcass.

The Buran kit was released early this year, but had minimal decals and was PRICEY, like $80 pricey, so I held back when I heard that the manufacturer was going to reissue the kit with complete tile decals.  When Hobby Terra listed the kit as "in stock", the new decals were included and the asking price was around $24.

Nice scores Joe. The Scharnhorst was a very handsome ship! And the ‘Bama wasn’t too bad either.

As for myself, well, I saw this goodie on clearance for 30% off at Brookhurst Hobbies last week so I ran by there today after work to snatch it up. I’ve been wanting this one bad to fill out my Korean War collection...

I’m pretty sure that this will be my last purchase of the year. Certainly for in California...

You won't regret buying this one!  It's a stellar kit. Especially at that price. Too bad you couldn't have made your way to Texas!

Not to take anything from Joe, but i saw that Flyhawk kit on scalemates. Its 1/700 and is a new release this year. They also released it with the extras.

https://www.scalemates.com/search.php?fkSECTION[]=Kits&q=FlyHawk+Model+Scharnhorst*&fkTYPENAME[]=%22Full%20kits%22

No issues Bish. Thanks to you and Steve for fielding the question in my short hiatus.

Flyhawk is indeed relatively new. They started out making PE sets for ships but, have since started out releasing 1/700 ships and 1/72 armor. Although I have yet to build one, from my own observation and from reviews, they have definitely raised the bar on molding and detailing on 1/700 ship kits. I also have their Prince of Wales kit, and let me tell you, these are some seriously beautiful kits. They also just recently released a Bismark kit that may interest many.

I should note, that Flyhawk has a unique marketing strategy. They box their kits in 2, or even 3, different sets. You can get a basic boxing sans the PE and brass, a deluxe boxing that includes PE and brass barrels and in some cases a super deluxe set that includes a further amount of PE, wooden deck and masking sets. So, if you should go shopping for one of their kits, be aware of this as it takes some research and attention to which kit you are getting. The added bonus is that you can get these for a decent price. I got both the deluxe versions of the POW and Scharnhorst deluxe kits direct from China for under $40.00. that included S/H.

In addition, Flyhawk molds some very unique kits, mainly British and German navy subjects as well as some German WW I ships. I'm considering also getting their HMS Campbeltown kit. They are lots of their kits on ebay. I suggest you check them out.

Cheers, Joe

Chad: Those are cool! I have the Dragon Wagon and it's a Tamiya quality kit. Builds into a very impressive model when done!

Joe: Love those battlewagons. I walked around the Alabama about a decade ago. Very cool ship.

Sergeant: Wow I never thought of using an actual spray gun on a model, just my airbrush...

Anyway can we post stuff we bought even if it's for a Christmas present for ourselves and we haven't opened it yet?

If you haven't opened it yet then you don't have it so it doesn't count Big Smile

So technically since I haven't opened it if anyone asks I haven't bought it yet! Stick out tongue

Joe, now those are some kits I can appreciate. I'm with you regarding the Scharnhorst class Battlecruiser. Love them.

Flyhawk boys, is a "fairly" new competitor in the world ship kits. They have been around for a while making PE and other ship AM. Nice kits from what I here.

What scale is the fly hawk kit?  I haven't heard of them either though I'm not a ship guy.  Regardless that seems like a great price.  Just have to be patient.

Thanks,

John

I've never heard of Flyhawk.  I'll have to give them a try. How do the moldings look?

Gamera: Love the Klingon Battlecruiser. You have my blessing to enjoy guilt free.

Chad: Whoa! Those are impressive. And big! Have fun choosing some armor to accent those beasts.
