Treated myself to some choice early Christmas gifts since the wife unit refuses to buy me kits as a present. She prefers that I get what I want rather than wracking her brain over it. Besides, I've been a very good boy this year.Embarrassed

Picked up the USS Alabama during one of Squadrons 30% off deals. Kfir was a $2 auction win.

I had to get my hands on this one. Always loved the Scharnhorst class and when I saw that Flyhawk had punched one, it was a go. Beautiful looking kit that comes complete with a full set of metal gun barrels and PE set. Ordered direct from China for $37.00 including S/H and arrived in 3 weeks. Not bad at all.

I have a Sata mini jet I bought back in the early 90s for use at work that I dug out for doing the 1/72 Gato.  Nice little gun.

Don't know yet what the kit is for the Secret Santa GB.... A week to wait.

Did treat myself to the new tamiya p38.

Real G, the answer is yes, but take a look at this video I think it will answer a lot more questions https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LKZrAokENA

If you decide to purchase a miniature spray gun check out pricing on eBay and Amazon, I paid only 25% of the manufactures retail price for a brand new gun.

Sergeant,

I had not considered the spray pattern size before.  I wonder if it would be good for glossy paints on car kits as well?  I have had the overspray problem with my little airbrush.  Maybe it’s time to get me a new paint gun.

Gamera,

So you have joined the Klingon Empire!  Most excellent!

Mopar Madness,

Looks like you will be in the market for a Sherman and Panzer IV!  A friend wanted to do a diorama with three Famos “choo-choo training” while towing an Elefant!

Sergeant: Wow I never thought of using an actual spray gun on a model, just my airbrush...

Anyway can we post stuff we bought even if it's for a Christmas present for ourselves and we haven't opened it yet?

If you haven't opened it yet then you don't have it so it doesn't count Big Smile

Last year my wife gave me an Iwata Eclipse HP-CS air brush for Christmas, this year she gave me the Iwata RG-3L-3 miniature spray gun. I learned over time the air brush is great for details but creates to much overspray on 1/35 scale armor hulls and 1/32 aircraft fuselages and wings. The paint cup on this spray gun is 130 ml and the nozzle is 1.0 mm with an adjustable air cap that will let me fine tune the round spray pattern. The spray gun fits neatly in the palm of my hand and weighs only 13.6oz.

If you're interested in more information about using a miniature spray gun for scale modeling here is a video by Paul Budzik.

Oh yeah, nice score SP!!!

I picked up the Meng Leopard 2A7 about a year ago. It's great build, simple but detailed. Only issue is the complex camo which I'm working though now. Pick one up Chad I don't think you'll regret it!

From what I hear they make a real nice Leopard 2 as well.

I wouldn’t doubt that. They make a nice Leopard family. I cant wait to get my workbench up and running again and start on this one in the coming year.

Dang Stik, I've been looking at that one too! How does it look?

It looks REAL NICE! It comes with indy link and single length track options, choice of A3 or A4 versions, optional late service night vision site for the A3, PE fret... a real beauty of a Leo.

Yesterday was our AMPS Chapter holiday meeting, pot luck, and gift exchange. Since “stealing” is part of our exchange, I picked up this baby after my choice was “stolen”....

Added a couple of nice limited run kits. I won both on a FB auction. Pretty excited to score the Harpoon. Been wanting one for quite some time.

Does anyone have any experience with Valom kits? This is my first one. Sure looks nice OOB. Certainly has 2 interesting markings. In addition to the captured Luftwaffe markings it also has decals for the USN all yellow version. Pretty cool.

Someone tipped me off that a book was available on the art and design of Bill Campbell, the man who did the artwork for Hawk Weird-Oh Kits, that inspired the manufacturers to make those plastic kits...................

It's £25.99 here in the UK and $39.99 in the USA. There are 700 illustrations in this book. Some are of kits that are made and some that were too complex to make but the artwork is in there too.

Brilliant for those interested in Hawk kits. 192 pages all in colour.

Okay. Now, that is just too cool. That is a righteous score.

Yeah, I really like those small Revell kits.

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Picked this up at Goodwill for $4  they had only glued a couple of things together, everything is there. It's 1/72,  I will need to get new resin ejection seats though.

John

Picked up some new ejrction seats to replace the wrecked ones that came with my Goodwill find.  Also got a 1/144 harrier,  I tell you these 1/44 Revell of germany kits are really cool!  they'er as bad as the BANDAI star wars kits.

Again from good old ebay UK a used Monogram '29 Ford Roadster Pickup, just a few bits missing to make a whole one (a frontwheel & tyre) but two running board frames/two chassis/two bonnets/hoods etc, so plenty to build at least one and a half as soon as I find another front wheel & tyre!

Steve: Happy Birthday and congrads! That is a great kit of a really badass destroyer.

John: Ohhhhh cool chopper! That wasn't the same type as the 'Screamin' Mimi' from the '80s US TV show 'Riptide' was it?

PS: OK looked it up- the 'Mimi' was a Sikorsky S-58 T. Still the nose looks very much like it.
