The Olympic Flight Museum was calling to me today. The gift shop right inside the door is my new favorite place to shop for aircraft models! :)

Today I walked out with two kits, a 1/48 Monogram "Confederate Air Force - Ghost Squadron" boxing of the P-39 Airacobra, and a 1/32 Williams Brothers Seversky P-35!

I barely remember these old Williams Brothers kits from when I was very young. They were highly detailed and quite expensive in their day.

I picked this one up for only $10 with the P-39 for $8. The gift shop is literally full of these kinds of treasures. :) I'm a lucky man!

Like Airfix, Amusing Hobby is anotehr brand i have a liking for even before i have built one. This is the third of their armour kits i have bought. And as you can see, i have not gone completly mad over the British subjects, German ones are still at the top of my list.

Looks like a nice kit Bish.  BTW...Don't trust anything that the wings fly faster that the fuselage....

Another bird from the far side, albeit in British markings.  First an Avenger and now an Apache, we are slowly getting you over here.Big Smile

I like that one. Must admit i do like flying in choppers. Pity i never got a ride in an Apache. But my first ever flight was in a Lynx.

And don't worry, i have plenty more from the far side in the stash, more than i have British actually.

A bit more Britishness from me, but this time not from Airfix. Thought it was about time i got somthing flown by proper pilots Big Smile. Given that Wattisham Airfield is only a few miles away and these are over our house a lot and they use the air strip at the former USAAF aifield outside the vilage, an Apache AH-1 seemed the right choice.

Just picked up the new Revell Germany HMCS Snowberry kit. Drove an hour to a hobby shop that had mission models paints. Much to my suprise they had a ton of different products. Had to quickly retreat from the paint section to avoid going broke but not before snagging the Snowberry on the way out. Looks like this kit will require some custom paint mixing.

Today, he gives me this:

I'm excited.  The box is a little beat-up, but the kit is fine.  It has pre-made masks, which I've been wanting to try.  It's an Eduard kit, which I've been wanting to try.  Plus, it's a South Pacific bird, which fits in with my current reading and recent kits.

I'm about to finish a Wildcat, and I have a Zero on order from my local hobby shop.  When should I build the P-400?

Build it before you forget about it!! Wink

That was a nice gesture of him. And That's a not often seen model.

It's like money burning a hole in your pocket. You just can't resist! That's why I started building that MiG 3 the same day I brought it home. Oh, and I finally found my thin acetate for those window frames. (Some of you know what I'm talking about) GRRR!

I may have to jump in soon.  It may be a parallel build with a Zeke.

Whenever you can find the time! I haven't seen that one built up, that I know of. Everyone seems to love their Spitfires and 109's but this one... as soon as you can! LOL.

Gamera,

Here is what's in the box:

I started putting the kapa together.

Overall fit is so-so, as expected from a creature kit.  (Unlike Games Workshop creatures, which nowadays fit like Tamiya kits!)  Lots of trimming, sanding and detail restoration to do.  I decided to bore out the solid molded eyes to add creepy clear ones.

But out club is running a GB along with IPMS Tidewater in the US and this years theme is the USAF to mark the 70th Anniversary in Sept, so i will be doing them both together.

Not to mention that the Lightning was the first operational jet aircraft to have "supercruise"- the ability to fly at supersonic speeds without using the afterburner.

I'm not much of a plane guy but I have always thought that was one of the best looking jets I've seen. The lines and that stacked exhaust just looks awesome. It was super fast for it's time, right? I'm talking about the English Lighting. Missed the quote button

I know what you mean Griffin. I just couldn't get a collection of modern British jets and not have a Lightning. It was the only aircraft we built on out own that could reach Mach 2.

I do prefer the green scheme which is why i went for this kit.

Was killing time between a VA blood draw and another meeting last night in Salem.  Hit the LHS there, and walked by the Academy 1/72 PBY-5A "Black Cat" 3 times before she reached out and grabbed me and wouldn't let go til I got back to the Jeep........

It ain't real lessen I sees a picture.

As per request.....can be built as either early or late versions.  Differences are bow guns, and antennas.

Pics of the two Wildcats are in the Midway GB, and the Tail of Two Kittys on the aircraft page.

Griffin,

Yes 1.7 Mach and one of the fastest climb rates of any fighter of the time.

I grabbed two more kits today. The Tamiya Walker Bulldog and Trumpeter's Hotchkiss 39(H). I don't know anything about either tank or either kit so this will be a new one on me. I just thought they looked cool and I've been kinda in a tank mood lately.

I picked up this 1982 reissue from 1965 of a 1933 Rolls Royce roadster .Back in 82, I wasn't interested in this kit but I couldn't pass it up now.

I got a few new ones, each for an outstanding price.

Bothe of these I got for $4.99.

The place I got this had maybe 20 of them and selling them for $5.99. I could sell these on eBay for $25, assuming there is a makket for them, which apperently there isn't here in Boise.

And finally I got this from HB with the %40 coupon for $14 and some change.

Oh I forgot this one from eBay for $6

Continuing on with my current trend of new tooled Airfix post war British, this was not high up on the shopping list but went for a good price on e-bay so why not.

I lucked in Sunday when i stopped at a garage sale on way to daughter's house. These were first models I have found at garage sale in long time.

They all look complete, except the Wildcat is missing the prop..not a big deal.

Apparently they had more Friday and Saturday, tanks and cars mostly DANG!

They were priced from $2 to $10, But they wanted these gone so got all 9 for $40!! Figured less than $5 a piece was too good to pass up.

Wife said it was my Father's Day gift!!

Now I have more old Monograms for the Mafia build and a new USMC F-4.

I will never pass another yard sale after seeing this!!  What a deal.  Happy father's day indeed.

Dwayne or Dman or just D.  All comments are welcome on my builds.

Always wanted a big 1/48 He 177 but they were sooo expensive and out of my price range.  Then I saw that the one with allied markings was significantly cheaper than those with German markings, so I went for it.  when I bought the Montex mask set, I found it has all the stencils for the German markings included, for less than 10 bucks.  Happy Days.

Thats going to be impresive, i rather like MPM kits.

Funny how this was cheaper just because of the markings, but i doubt your not going to complain.
