I just bought this on Ebay fo $40.00. The box has never been opened. Nothing like a big, delta wing bomber.

Your comments and questions are always welcome.

Stopped by my LHS and this jumped off the shelf!    for like $10  couldn't resist.  panel lines are a little deep but nothing I can't live with, or fill with a little primer.

$10.  I don't think I could pass that up either.  Nice score!

Don't anyone tell my wife, but I snuck off to the airport again today after work.

This time I picked up something that in my opinion was worth far more than the $6 I happily paid for it.

This was one of the many kits I've seen so far that have notations in the instructions. Someone made some VERY detailed notes on how they had planned to build this kit. Even what he(?) had planned to scratch build!

That reference to FSM caught my eye right from the start! I think it would be a shame to let this information go to waste. I think I'll build it as the former owner had planned. :)

Nice score!  I built this kit when I was a teenager.  Didn't paint the whole model, glue everywhere.  Your basic hot mess.  I built (badly) several 1/72 scale MPC planes when I was a kid.  If I remember correctly, the fit was actually not too bad.  Not much detail, though.  Can't wait to see what you do with it!

I completely agree, MC. That looks like the kind of thing I would really enjoy! The kit actually looks pretty good. Engraved panel lines and tons of rivets all over it. Good enough to start with anyways. I think I even have a few parts I can use to improve some things without having to rebuild them completely.

I may have to try molding some new canopy pieces so they can be opened! ;

Yeah, this looks like a fun one. :D

Nice score Mike. It would be a shame to let all that research and thought go to waste.

Been a busy couple of weeks...

Yesterday found an Esci F-16a for $3 at a flea market.  Found the Gamma Goat at Hobby Lobby for $16.99.

Also picked up the Tamiya Taiho aircraft carrier in 1/700, and the Prince of Wales, USS Texas and USS North Carolina all in 1/350.  Very excited about these.  Prince of Wales was a gift from my brother who flew into town for a visit

Nice finds! $3! Deal! Lol :)

Shar is a nickname that I've heard for the Sea Harrier. Those new mold Airfix kits are pretty nice, aren't they? They sure stepped up their game in those kits.

Not heard of that one before, i i can see how it comes about. When i think of the Shar, i think of the tank.

Ye, they have really upped their game since being bought by Hornby in 2006. I have gone from avoiding them to looking forward to new releases. All the reviews are always positive. The RN Phantom will be a welcome addition in Sept.

Is that Shar a new tool kit Bish? I know you don't have to worry about it taking up much room once built, the Harrier is a small aircraft. Not much larger than some WWII fighters in length and wingspan about the same. Especially in 1/72.

Well yesterday I made a trip to the LHS and found just what I was hoping to find, a 1:48 PSP base. It was pre painted somewhat, but needs some additional weathering to look proper.

So here it is with a nice freshly applied wet coat of Promodeler/Flory dark mud wash... just what I need for my recent F-86...

Ye, all these Airfix Harriers are new tooled kits. I used to avoid Airfix at all costs, but have now got a liking for their new stiff.

Not sure what you mean by Shar?

I scored a pair of kits at a thrift shop on Friday. The Moebius Ironman Mark III for a $1.99 (no instructions) and an old Monogram B-26 Marauder medium bomber in 1/48th scale for $3.99. Earlier in the week, I found Revell's Kylo Ren command shuttle for $10.80 in the Hobby Lobby clearance aisle. Decent price that originally sold for around $30-40 retail.

I emailed Moebius for new instructions, but the customer service rep said he did not have it in any form and even if he did, some licensing matter would prevent him from distributing them.

I was able to find instructions for a different version of Ironman and will be able to construct the kit with those.

Ye, i am a bit. Well, i have been a good boy for over a year, only buying a couple of kits. Got another 3 on the way from Japan and possably another Harrier on e-bay during the week, then i will ease off until later in the year. There's a particular kit release due than i will not be passing up.

As for the room. Sort of, if i can squeeze then in to the few remaining nooks and crannies Big Smile

The Olympic Flight Museum was calling to me today. The gift shop right inside the door is my new favorite place to shop for aircraft models! :)

Today I walked out with two kits, a 1/48 Monogram "Confederate Air Force - Ghost Squadron" boxing of the P-39 Airacobra, and a 1/32 Williams Brothers Seversky P-35!

I barely remember these old Williams Brothers kits from when I was very young. They were highly detailed and quite expensive in their day.

I picked this one up for only $10 with the P-39 for $8. The gift shop is literally full of these kinds of treasures. :) I'm a lucky man!

I loved those Monogram Confederate Air Force kits.  My Grandmother lived near their headquarters in Harlengen, Texas back in the 1980's.  We would visit often, and I'd usually take home a kit.

Well this is the first one of these that I can recall ever purchasing. I remember seeing them on shelves when I was a kid, but I never picked one. Fortunately this kit has four sets of markings to choose from, but on the down side they are out of register. Some worse than others to the point of being unusable. The russian stars are the worst of the bunch.

But the kit itself is in good order and I'm looking forward to dressing it up and adding it to my collection.

When I was younger I had the advantage of living a few miles from Boeing field, so I can totally understand where you're coming from. Being able to visit such amazing places is truly a blessing and makes for strong memories.

Ah, the memories. :)

Like Airfix, Amusing Hobby is anotehr brand i have a liking for even before i have built one. This is the third of their armour kits i have bought. And as you can see, i have not gone completly mad over the British subjects, German ones are still at the top of my list.

Nice!  That is an interesting subject.  I am curious to see what you do with this kit.

D

It is a bit isn't it. I think the kit owes its existance to World of Tanks because even though the Germans were planing this as a variant of the Panther II, there are no drawings of it that i know. Not sure when i will get to it, kits tend to be in my stash for a while before i start them.

I have certainly come to that conclusion, Stik. I'm confident I can build it, but it's not going to be a quick one. That one will take some planning and a little research to dress up that pit with some scratch. ;)

I don't think I'll rescribe the entire model, but there are some panels that do need some recessed panel lines and I think I can handle it lol.

I think I will enjoy the **** out of that kit. :D

Williams Brothers kits are not shake and bake. Nor are they for novices. That kit has been around a LONG time. But the instructions are not too different from early Monogram or Hawk kits. I have that same P-35 in my stash. One day...

Aw heck, D. I have no idea actually lol. Not any time soon. I was just looking at the I-sheet for the P-35 and it's more of a single technical drawing. Written instructions are on a separate sheet. It warns that this is not a model for amateurs or casual builders and I get the impression they're not joking.

It's a serious project with parts for the Persuit plane and the racer of '39. It's going to take some study before I start assembly. I think it's going to be a stunner if I combine some scratch building into it.
