its a pleasure having another fellow thomasian aboard! you're kinda fiesty for a newcommer. anyway, i'm an arch't and we do share the same college building/campus before, bout my handle yes its old cristened by my co-workers in the field somehow i've gotten use to it.

okey, about your braille F-8E delema, i can't say much regarding the hasegawa kit except for its poor reviews, i have both the kangnam and acadeny kits so far,the kangnam kit is the cheapest one around at P280 its similar to the ESCI kit ,the details are simplified with some effort the kit has potential, the new academy kit cost twice as the kangnam but, far better with little corrections... i bought mine at JMNs for P400+ last week and had one more in reserve, i think only JMNs has stock of the kit, i'm currently converting the first kit into PAF F-8H version w/c i hope to enter on the BAC cup on the 30th or in the Natls on Oct.

The IPMS-Phils Bert Anido Chapter Cup is regurlay held every May in honor of Mr. Bert Anido a founding member of IPMS-Phils. entries are focused on PAF and AFP subjects later expanded to WW2 pacific.

for more info. you could check our website at ipmsphilippines .com

hope this helps..

wow! maraming salamat i'll go get one after office more likely the academy kit like you said it has less work and the price is reasonable.JMNs sa Harrison Plaza yun diba?Smile [:)]

PAF F-8H? that's different, i'm a kinda straight out of the box type. but, i'm hoping to do some conversion one of this days or my skills won't improve, whats the diff. between the E and H version mahirap ba yun conversion nila? i like the lines of the F-8 its sleek, simple and deadly the last gunfigther beats barbie anytimeEvil [}:)]and the PAF operates them. are they still in service?Tongue [:P]

i'll check out your websites later.

again, thanks for the warm welcome guys and gal!Big Smile [:D]

Emjaetee,

I came across this literature from Gunze Sangyo given to me by STC as to how to use most of their products. I thought you'll be interested in the use Mr. Retarder mild, so word for word here it is:

Mr. Retarder Mild
Mr. retrder Mild is an agent for retarding the drying of Mr. Color paints and eliminating lumps in brush painted surfaces. In addition, it alos greatly improves the eveness of the Mr. Color paint film and thus dramatically increase luster.
Method of use: ( with a brush)
1. Add approx. 10% Mr. Retarder Mild to Mr. Color and mix in well.
2. Mr. Retarder Mild should be added after transferring Mr. Color to another container such as apaint dish.
3. Your brush strokes should all be in the same direction. Don't be concerned about any brush marks or lumps, as these will disappear.
With an airbrush
1. Add approx 20% Mr. Retarder Mild to Mr. Color and mix in well.
2. One of Mr. Retarder Mild's special features is that it is effective in thinning Mr. Color Paints, while producing more luster than Mr. Thinner. However, adding more than 20% delays drying time longer than required, so if you want to thin Mr. Color more you should use Mr. Thinner.
3. The method for application is the same as for for regular spraying. However, take care, since the paint may start to dribble.

Hope this helps you in handbrushing your models.

To any IPMS Manila members who wants a copy, I'm bringing a copy on our next meet and you could probably have photocopied then.

Ei, finally! meron na ring babae! tayong dalawa lang yata dito... hehehe. welcome to the FSM forums! Big Smile [:D]

rod, welcome aboard! braille scale are the smaller scale models... usuall referring to the 1/72nd... details are so small one could go blind.... which makes me wonder, if 1/72 is Braille scale how do we call the 1/144??? Big Smile [:D]

and BAC actually means Bert Anido Chapter.

Noel, Mang Ben, and most of those that have their insignia is from the IPMS-USA chapter, IPMS-Manila.

IPMS-Philippines Bert Anido Chapter was established in the 60's... Bigman and Buck are from this one...

They used to belong in IPMS-P-BAC, all of them, but like a fledgling learning to fly, IPMS-Manila was established.

actually, there are other IPMS clubs present here... there's IPMS South Manila, IPMS fort(tama ba? no offense meant) and others i can not remember.

These clubs are present to promote the hobby. they WORK TOGETHER to guide modellers throughout.

for more info on their orgs, check out their websites....

http://www.ipmsphilippines.com for IPMS Philippines Bert Anido Chapter
http://www.geocities.com/ipms_manila for IPMS Manila

Happy modelling y'all!

Cheers!

Awww shucks. Well, thank you sir for the effort. Smile [:)] By the way, is there any word if or when STC will re-stock their shelves with new 1/144 Shanghai Dragon aircrafts? Despite its proven to have fit problems I still have grown to love these little buggers. Details and panel lines are crisp and well done and if given a lot of attention during building, they really can be good looking when finished.

Ron, Lil22beth,

Welcome to FSM! Great to hear from all of you modelers out there.

I am into ships as well. Just a bit burned out. I want to miss ships for a while. I have a couple of ships done and they are posted at Modelwarships.com. Yep, 1/350 Enterprise. Bismark, New jersey, Arizona, and a lot, lot more. So I started doing armor again after 5 years of pause in this category. But when I ended up finishing my Leopold and my M12, I guess armor would not excite me for now. Maybe I will go into choppers first before getting back to ships. A 1/32 Seaking would probably be the project for me. IPMS Manila has its upcoming "Desert Conflict in Plastic" (Desert Storm Theme) contest this September and the Seaking can get in.
