Noel,

To me it has always been about sharing my talent with others. Way back in my elementary and high school days, I use to draw/sketch for people ( classmates, friends, teachers) for free and didn't mind giving them away. As long as they appreciate what I drew then I'm happy. So I guess my attitude about parting with my works stem from that.
What I love most about model making is the building. Like youl said, you put your heart into it and then some.Improving your skills, raising the bar a notch higher with every kit you make until you produce something that others will gasp at. But still, satisfaction is denied because you know every mistake and mishap that occured in the building process so you build another hoping to get everything right this time around. And sometimes it happens. To me, this is what modelling is. It is about the building and not finish product itself. It is a journey that detrmines how you arrive at and perceive your destination.
Most people treat model making a hobby, to me it's an artform.

Rico,

I used to build models for collectors. Ships particularly. But I don't know. I am a little sentimental. When I build, I put my heart in it. And seeing it go...Argh...even the cash won't be enough at times.

Yes, the returns in building models is rewarding. Like my friend from IPMS South Manila used to say..."Its a mind game".

Emjaetee, you dont even have to call me sir. Like I said, Noel is fine (as for Rico as well). Respect is a two way traffic. First names are respectful enough for me. Hehehe

oops!!! Sorry about that.

Reggie,

I used to build full time, Mondays to Saturdays. Now, other priorities have crept in and Saturdays is the only day that I can make models uninterrupted. I have a huge backlog of models to build which is why I'm looking for an assistant to help me out.. I'll e-mail you the website.

Good luck on your board exam. Give them hell!!

emjaetee,

It's just me, you can still call the others "sir", I think they deserve/have a right to it ( as a sign of respect and not of old age ). If you can't make it on Sunday, maybe on our next monthly meet and you could probably join our merry band.

Ben Borja

Sadly i'm staying here for good. I miss Meycauayan terribly! I'm studying now for my board exam and ofcourse building models. I recently bought (finally!) a mini compressor. It's an Iwata Smart jet. It's smart alright turns itself off when i'm not airbrushing.

Mang Ben any new recruits from our home town?

Rico do you do models full time? What was that site again that has your models?

Mang Noel, can you change my membership status just like mr. lucban? I'll be missing most of the meets from now on kasi.Disapprove [V] But i'll be going back there maybe this October for some unfinished business.

Mang Art how's the baby?

Mang Abet how' it going?

Ah guys i remembered when we first met last March somebody asked me if I knew a certain Mr. Francia but i don't remeber his name.

Sigman,

Actually, all shops here in the Metro has something to offer. Shops like Lil's Mega Mall, Special Toys (at Festival Mall, SM City, SM Novaliches, Ali Mall, Sta. Cruz, Greenhills, etc.), Hobbies and Comics (at Makati Cinema Square), JMN at Harrizon Plaza, have models that you might find in one but not in the other. Their service is great and they are all worth your time visiting.

Shop hopping can be as fun as modeling itself!

Sorry, I don't do much hand painting, especially on large areas. On an aircraft, I only handbrush mostly on the cockpit area and these require mainly picking out details. My advice to you would be to use a good brand of paint. Most enamels are good for hand brushing. If you could find the Pactra-Tamiya variety, their the best. Testors Model master, Tamiya and Humbrol are also good. Academy enamels are a varied bunch. Some especially the green and grays are quite good. Others, mostly the pastels and glossies, are crap. For acrylics, Vallejo Acrylicos are good. Tamiya is a bit thick in consistency. Though I haven't tried them, Poly-S paints have a reputation in the U.S. as the best acrylic there is. Hand brushing Lacquers takes a lot of practice. Mix the paint with Mr. retarder to help even out the brush marks. Also brush only in one direction. This applies to all types/brand of paint.

And stop calling me sir!!

Rico

Big Smile [:D] salamat po... hehehe... i kinda gotten used to using the address "sir" to anyone who shares his piece of knowledge...

thanks about the tips... Smile [:)]
