Thumbs Up [tup] Very nice job- is this the Verlin figure that comes with the 240 gunner- I have him layin around somewhere. I really like the vest and pack work, looks very nice. Of course your DCUs look great as usual, nice work on this one camo- good luck on the figure forum contest- you've definitely got the finished product worthy of a tutorial. And I'm sure you'll be the only modern figure painter there! Maybe that'll give you an edge

thanks chris...though i doubt anyone will care about the modern stuff. even though it is all the same. i mean if you can paint one...you can paint the other!!! and yeah, he's with the 240 gunner, only im not using the gunner, he's on his own in this one! Wink [;)] maybe i'll do the 240 gunner for my tut.? who knows! i first have to do the damn thing! Laugh [(-D]

Doesn't this fig use the same pose as their 120mm 101st fig? (the one I used for Flash Out) .... Man! ... Verlinden's "blah"ness spans over scales too!!! Laugh [(-D]

The one thing that I will give Verlinden is that they sure make it easy to make a squad element  of figures! HAHA!!!

Same basic pose- the main difference is equipment- this guy gets the 1/35 generic set while the 1/16 guy got all of their modern 1/16 generic stuff Wink [;)]

So here's a dumb question, a little Sign - Off Topic!! [#offtopic], but I really don't know ....

So, does Verlinden have someone just sculpt the same figure/ pose just in a different scale, or do they have some computer program that "maps" out the original sculpture and can scale it up or down?

Also ... something else Sign - Off Topic!! [#offtopic] ... but along the same lines .... I saw something on ebay awhile back where you could send in a couple of pictures of your own face and the company would make you a resin copy of your head in whatever scale you wanted. Something like $50, but how creepy would that be!?!

One more good looking figure CJ!

Looking at you work I thought the same thing as MC: thay guy looks familiar!
I can only support what you guys saind on Verlilnden's behalf: you could buy a few of their sets and build an army, just swapping parts ... and that's just what they do!

You're more than welcome!

It's indeed as you say: each "WIP" has a group of "hardcore-fans", that follow the build from start to end. Eventually the final work gets a whole lot of attention.

Laugh [(-D] btw manny, i also expected you to say i needed a sling for the rifle!! Wink [;)]

I would respond more, but I don't know jack about the subject matter. Oddly, I spent 6 yrs in the army in the 90s, and more recently 1.5 yrs in the sandbox with KBR, and I still don't know jack about modern uniforms & troop gear. Now, German stuff...naw, I don't know jack about that either...

But I do like your 3-color coffee stains. Looks like the real deal to me. One thing, and I may be wrong about this (happens all the time)...I don't recall seeing a lot of guys over there with the pro mask in the leg carrier, except during the initial roll-up from Kuwait. Is this still common practce?

that's ok j. you caught the one thing i figured one in 10000 might get and that was the graffitti. Thumbs Up [tup] as far as not knowing what your doing, my army days were back in the late 80's and early 90's...so dont feel bad. im winging it like everyting else. Laugh [(-D] you may also be right about the chem mask. im not sure honestly. modelchasm could tell you the right answer. i dont mind putting it on as i want the guys to look "weighted" with gear if i can help it!!

Nice work, camo...  Very nice figure painting.  Your scene is coming together well.  Can't wait to see more.

Laugh [(-D] thank you thank you. as far as more overall shots again...lol....i suppose i can. i've just been reluctant because i think it would take away from the final "hoorah"! with so little left to do, wouldnt it just be a let down? or am i wrong and would it be a let down in the end if ya dont like it? i dont know...what do you guys think???

thanks also axel. i try as far as my painting goes!! Big Smile [:D] as far as the chin strap, you guys are probably right, and i may just have to put one in!! i definately dont want anyone to think i dont appreciate or want to use their ideas. i do!! as far as the tutorial, it ought to be interesting, but i hope i make it as simple as possible. i really want people to be able to do what i do (it's really easy contrary to what ya might think). expect that within a couple of days. i have the figure together, will start the painting and pics today and within 2-3 days i should have it. takes that long for the oil paint to dry anyway! Big Smile [:D]
