More like woohoo!! or yeehaw... or... I don't know. I spell most English words like they sound... which usually makes them turn out wrong in the end. But when it comes to noises like booooms and kerpows I feel like it's pretty fair game Laugh [(-D]

You're not a jerk camo don't worry about it. My brother (not the one that's on here with the 1/72 tank- I have another one that hates modeling and thinks it's an expensive exercise in pointlessness) is a foreign language major with a minor in creative writing and he rides me twice as hard with grammar and correct sentence structure... I'm sure you see how it pays off Whistling [:-^]

Edit- Arkhunter, between you and mc I think I'm going to try a few whirleebirds. Or whirlybirds... I don't know how that's spelled haha

I have the old 1/32 scale Apache from Revell and the 1/48 civilian Chinese Dauphin variant that Trump has masquerading around as the HH-65A. Going to be a lot of scratching going on with those two... sorry to bring it up in the Mayhem thread camo, projects way down the line though, my bench is overflowing as usual- so thats the end of that

PS looking forward to seeing THE BLOOD! Dead [xx(]

ok...well, im not trying to correct your grammer other than just trying to pick on ya! Wink [;)] just nice to see ya make an appearance once in awile chris! dont worry either about my thread...i post about once every week all things considered so it might as well be used for other people too! Cool [8D]

that said, i built the old revell 1/32 apache years ago. i do mean years ago. it met an untimely end with my old bb gun. (ya know the one kinda shaped like an m-16 unless too early for your time cris??). shows you how good i got with a weapon as it was a good 50+ yards away when i took one shot dead on and straight into the cockpit it went. thing exploded/disintigrated like it was hit by a sam missle!! Laugh [(-D] yeah, i suppose i was just bored!! Wink [;)]

as for the blood, not sure if ya mean my insurgent or not...but it came out so-so. it was my first time and whatever. it wont damage the look of the dio so im not worried about it!!

ark...no i mean whoo! Laugh [(-D]

Yeedashhaw!! hahaha my boss told me about the girl name "La-a" pronouced "Ladasha" haha sorry, couldn't help it.

lol but yeah, was talking about the blood on the insurgent, wasn't turning into a vampire or anything Wink [;)]

Hope my Apache doesn't meet the same fate, although the last one I made was as a kid, and it was too complex a build for me, wound up in the trash Boohoo [BH] then sat through an I'M NEVER GOING TO MODEL AGAIN!! phase.... yeah I know I was one of those kids, big surprise lol

manny: thanks. i appreciate that. do ya think he needs a sling? i only ask because most pics i've seen (doesnt mean it isnt the case) they dont have them...maybe modelchasm or someone else might know why. Dunce [D)] but again thanks!!

Most of the AKs that we "picked up" over there didn't have slings. IMO, it all has to do with the lack of money, so they couldn't go out and buy another one as it got torn up. Two, a lot of times they didn't take great care of their weapons, so I'm sure that lots of slings just dry-rotted.

HOWEVER, in this case, I will have to agree with Manny. I think that adding a sling here would add a little more interest to the pose. Not that it needs it (Great job btw!). But, consider adding one that maybe looks like a belt or even something that looks like cord.

Just my 2 cents.... Again nice job.

Hey,

Great work.  Sorry I stopped following this WIP when the summer hit, but I am glad to be getting caught back up.

That insurgent looks great.  I'd agree with modelchasm - I rarely saw a sling on an AK, and those that did have one were often just pieces of rope tied to either end, so you don't NEED a sling.  However, the guy's pose does seem to 'want' a sling, d'yaknowwhatimean? Clown [:o)]

thanks scott for that info on the sling. i dont think i should put one on as the weapon is "below" the line of sight below the balcony and is just lost to the whole thing. i dont know. Confused [%-)] what do u guys think now knowing that??

Ahhh I do see it now, kind of an executioner look, I thought it was just the angle or a weird mold, but now I do see that it opens up under his chin (right? Confused [%-)] maybe I'm just losing it...)
Thought it was some kinda multiple bandana/head wrap combo Blush [:I]

Feel free to laugh! Clown [:o)]

EDIT- if you do make a sling, it sounds like you should go for a thick rope look, like some decent size sewing thread or fine twine. That’s a hard medium for me to work with, I’m sure you could pull it off, but rope’s always been a PITA for me to paint and weather. And based on the info, sounds like it's not really needed, I say this guys finished!

Big Smile [:D] anway, thanks for the comments and info on the sling. as i stated in my last post not sure if i should put one on as it is obscurred by the balcony anyway...although i will be taking a couple of good shots of them in the end! hmmm...!

Oh man... I'm afraid to post this- I’ll wait a while haha I know you're going to reply to my last one...

Yeah I know you're just kidding, and I'm interesting to see how hidden he is in the balcony, wonder if he'll get a chance to act out that executioner role. Wondering if one of your US guys is going to notice him in time Dead [xx(]

lol just meant that if he's really well hidden he might take out a soldier before they notice he's there, but if he's wide open and 3 or 4 guns are pointed up his way, he won't be much of an executioner. I didn't mean for it to sound like I thought you were a minimalist, I know you want it to look like it should, but I think in this case, it looks realistic now without the sling, but if you wanted to add the rope sling, it would look good as well, so the decision to do more work on this figure is more your call, not necessarily one of “better or worse”- just different.

Camo, I think that if the AK's under the balcony's line of sight .... then you're good. Depending on where you put him, it'll probably never be noticed .... or missed.

well, here is my second insurgent. only one problem...i guess he wasnt as dry as i thought...the blue u see showing thru is not supposed to be there but i just touched it and well, you see what ya see in the pics. Boohoo [BH] also, the angle on the first pic is really bad as far as his shirt because his arm and sleeve look aweful but this isnt the case...i swear. i was also worried about copyright but his weapon is blocking what his shirt says so you cant make it out. dont know why this guy gave me more trouble than any other figure...but whatever. i will go touch him up and put him with the rest of the guys. i couldnt decide on a color for his pants so i went with "all black" for something different. anyway, here he is and all comments and critiqes welcomed...be kind on this one as i said...i screwed it up!!!!!! Sigh [sigh]

Nice!! Like the letter work, very nice angles, looks like printed t-shirt

I wouldn't worry about those details, not like you ruined the figure for sure, still looks nice- like the bare feet   Thumbs Up [tup]

Alien [alien] i've done better i know it and that will help me with my next u.s. guys!!

Oh, I don't know about that. I figured with the helmet you were just going to make him blend. I just liked the look of those NWM guys.

Although, I’m sure there’s got to be some kind of mixing going on- after all that shot of the late Michael Monsoor, US Navy SEAL has him in Army ACU. Seeing as how the Navy has their own digital blue patterns for ships, their own desert and woodland patterns not to mention that MARPAT has seen use with the Navy, as Marines work alongside Navy Corpsman in the field, the only reason I can think for Monsoor to be pictured in ACU was for an op in which he was required to work alongside and blend into an Army unit. I mean if Navy SF works with Army, Army's gotta work with Army- right?

It wouldn’t be far fetched as Speznaz has blended themselves into regular Russian Army as long as they’ve been around, wearing the same uniforms and patches etc.

...Granted the NWM figure doesn’t look like he’s trying to blend in with the sleeveless shirt etc. and he’d be the only SF guy around. So yeah, I say save him for your next dio!
