Doesn't this fig use the same pose as their 120mm 101st fig? (the one I used for Flash Out) .... Man! ... Verlinden's "blah"ness spans over scales too!!! Laugh [(-D]

The one thing that I will give Verlinden is that they sure make it easy to make a squad element  of figures! HAHA!!!

Wink [;)] maybe i'll do the 240 gunner for my tut.? who knows! i first have to do the damn thing! Laugh [(-D]

Thumbs Up [tup] Very nice job- is this the Verlin figure that comes with the 240 gunner- I have him layin around somewhere. I really like the vest and pack work, looks very nice. Of course your DCUs look great as usual, nice work on this one camo- good luck on the figure forum contest- you've definitely got the finished product worthy of a tutorial. And I'm sure you'll be the only modern figure painter there! Maybe that'll give you an edge

well, its been a couple of weeks since my last posting of anything significant. while im only posting one figure...i actually did 3. my gunner and driver being the other 2. not sure i like the gunner and may actually change him...but that's a wait and see thing. anyway,  here is one of my u.s. guys that i have left. i see a coulpe of little areas that may need to be touched up but in the end im happy with the results and hope you guys are too.

with this figure being done, my driver being done, i have 2 more figure i need to do b4 i work on my humvee and then "tighten up the scene" a little bit with some odds & ends! enjoy. Smile [:)]

The sub-scene looks good to me. The idea of the US soldier "suggesting" where to look is splendid.

If you ask me I'd only add those darn sadals. Two pros for sandals are: a guy wearing a "trendy" shirt can't go around barefooted and running around in an urban battle with bare feet can have drammatic results (that is if you don't catch a bullet first).

Just my thought.

you might be right with that chris...but i suppose if i go that far i might as well "complete" it!! i am gonna have one us guy looking up in that general direction to naturally draw the viewer's eye towards the balcony, etc.

He's so wedged in there, you wouldn't even need to add the sole of the sandal IMO, just some masking tape straps on the toes to give the impression. But yeah, I see what you mean about them being hidden back in there. Your call- I don’t think they NEED them.

only one problem...wouldnt use humbrol on his sandels....LOL....i would use oils on them. Mischief [:-,]. but i get ya. the croucher is well below the line of sight even from the ground!! he cant be seen which is y i took the "level" shot to show that. my only real concern (and i know it wont be thick) but if i put sandels on him and he can no longer sit flat because of the elevated difference. again i dont think it would affect it that much but he is already leaning to one side naturally. oh well, we'll see how it goes. may need a pic or two for that sling too. hmmmm...Propeller [8-]

HAHA! I'm just messin' w/ ya! However, honestly, I think it would be a good idea to add them on.

Here's my reasoning .... Sure your viewer will first be drawn down to the street level, but once they start looking around and find the insurgents on the balcony, they're going to want to take a closer look. Given the "squatter" is on the backwall, if you peered into the balcony, I think you'll see his feet. The "croucher" isn't as noticable, but I think it would be a nice, simple addition anyway ... a little masking tape, a little brown ... Humbrol (see ... I'm giving in a little!) and its done.

The only other thing that I have is that the "croucher" isn't as low as I thought he might be. However, I am looking down at him and level with him via your pictures. Only you can get down to the street level, look "up" and determine if you can see him from there. If so, maybe you can add in a vase or something to the balcony ledge for him to "hide" behind just a little more.

Anyway .... just a thought. Lookin' awesome though .... been a while since I'd looked at you building .... still looks incredible.

yeah chris, they would be cool...but if they didnt sculpt him that way...why should i change him? Whistling [:-^]. like i said, when he dries i will see what it looks like. looking at the sandles on my dead insurgent...it shouldnt be that hard to do. i will also take a picture so you guys can "help" me decide!! Sandals would be cool, but if you can't see them, then yeah, wont matter.

Oops, sorry model you've told me that a few times I think Blush [:I]

Maybe I'll figure it out sooner or later. Now though, you have me wondering what kind of Special Operations the Coast Guard has... some kind of drug/pirate interdiction unit??

Wikipedia says they have a Deployable Operations Group that upholds maritime law enforcement, goes after terrorism, enforces port security, and last but not least- pollution response. They use preexisting law enforcement, tactical and response units as needed and the whole thing is headed by a rear admiral.

Granted it doesn’t sound as cool as your SF stuff... but at least they got something.
Pollution response is interesting, as I feel like they wouldn’t be using a deployable team of LE Officers and tactical response units... but some kind of deployable science team!

A bunch of mild mannered research scientists and university professors until- they get the call! The USCG needs them one last time for a final deadly op- deadly toxin op that is- OIL SPILL OFF THE COAST OF ALASKA- MOVE MOVE MOVE!!! *then their theme song kicks in*

Ok... enough of that- and I’ll try and remember SO instead of SF from now on I promise Banged Head [banghead] (or DOG if I’m referring to the CG boys)

ok...well, that said i guess i will just touch up the paint on this guy. as far as making sandles, again, he's going to be "below" the balcony line of sight (completely) and i dont think its necessary for the shoes. see you add in those kinds of details...while good, i just dont want to waste the time with stuff people WONT see anyway. however, i will place him in his "spot" and if it makes sense to do it...i will!! Smile [:)]

as for the other stuff...whatever!!! Laugh [(-D]

Sorry I haven't chimed in lately .... busy w/ my head down I guess!?!

Stop whining about your last insurgent fig! It looks good .... really! Granted, we're not right there looking right at it. But, than again, you're probably not taking the steps back to get a different look at things either. The only thing that I'd say about him is this ... I think that you should scratch some sandals out of styrene and masking tape. Other than that, I think you're a GO at this station.

As for the dicussion about your future SF build. Yes, operators pretty much find whatever it is they like to wear and then go for it. W/ that said, most service special operations personnel usually stick close to home. As for Special Forces, most will wear ACUs, DCUs, or tan flight suits (although these are really worn only in country). SOP guys aren't cowboys. They don't just wear what they feel like IOT try to stir up a conversation. Here's my personal view. When at home we try to dress appropriately for the Army. However, when deployed and "working", there are more important things on the plate than worrying about whether your patches are on straight or if you're wearing the appropriate head-gear for Tuesdays.

Now, a small note for psst (sorry for using your thread Camo!?!) ... The Navy doesn't have SF. The AF doesn't have SF. Neither do the Marines, or the Coasties. The ARMY has Special Forces operators ... just the Army ... that's it ... Aa ... Aa ... .... just the Army. All the services "special" people lumped together fall under Special Operations ... not Special Forces. When you say "SF" you should be talking about the Army. Just as when you say SEAL, Para, Recon, and .... well, whatever the Coasties call themselves .... you're talking about that specific services SOP component.

There .... I'm done w/ my pet-peve SoapBox [soapbox].

BLUF .... Good lookin' figs, Camo ... keep it up.
