Hey, builds look great! While we are doing a sort of primer gallery I thought I would add. A 1/24 Trump G-6 Hartmann along side a Hartmann G-6 1/48 Academy:

When are you going to take the 1/24 out to fly?? That thing is huge!!

I'm tackling the Airfix next so I'll let y'all know. Also, Eduard is going to be doing their Emil line in 48th. Been plugging the new E-1 hard on Facebook this week.

Good observations Jack, Yes the hasegawa has some low points like the exhaust you mentioned and both tamiya and hasegawa's earliest boxings had incorrect noses, however this was fixed right away, all the "JT" series hasegawa boxes are correct. Both Hase and Tamiya have better surface detail than the Airfix, but the hasegawa Emil molds are getting a little old as the panel lines in places are shallow and barely visible, but maybe that was just the kit I had. You'll have to let us know the verdict when you start yours.

I wouldn't be so quick to discount Airfix's new tooling of the 109e that can built in one of three versions.  I've only come across box reviews of the kit, but many have concluded that although the new molds are not ground breaking, they do bring it on par with Tamiay and Hasegawa.  I've an open box in front of me now and comparing to a built Tamiya E-4, my only concern is the somewhat heavey panel lines - whether this will appear less after a few layers of paint and clear cotes remains to be seen (will only know after I build it later for this GB).

If you plan to build the 109 with lowered/raised control surfaces might want to consider Airfix as they are all molded separately.  I've read the Tamyia E-3 version had issues with cowl shape.  On the E-4 it was corrected but unaware if subsequent boxings of the E-3 followed suit.  I've only the Hasegawa E-1 and is somewhat sparse on wing surface detail compared to the other two.  It also has the  exhaust molded as part of the fuselage.

regards,

Jack

Ok quick question, Im looking for an "E" version 109 model that 1/48 scale and that is well made with a nice amount of detail. Any suggestions? The G version is nice and all but the E model is my favorite.

I think the Tamiya one is actually a little superior to hasegawa's Emil, and IMO it beats the Airfix too, but out of these 3 hasegawas decals are the best and that doesn't say much...

Thanks for the heads up, decals are the least of my issues with kits.

From what I've seen of your engine work, you won't have any problems! How do you like the Trumpeter kit? (I know, you've just started it!) I haven't picked up one of their kits yet.

Thanks again Vance for the kind words,,, so far I'm impressed with the kit,,oob it comes with some pe and vinyl tires,, other than the squared wheel bays and some changes that need to be made to the rudder and control surfaces it's a nicely detailed kit with crisp lines and pretty minimal clean up off of the sprue,,,,first Trump kit I've built also,,,,thought I'd give it a shot,,,,so far so good  Yes

No worries handi Im enjoying your build so far so keep the pics coming! Seems like Herman is being a little commanding lately. Telling you to put parts here and there, has Herman done his fair share of work??

Thanks!! I will,,, no problem there,,, all Herman does is crank Do Hast on the boom box and watch me sweat (typical Illinois Nazi     Sad)

Handiabled - no worries about "hogging the thread", you've just gotten off to a better start than the rest of us! (I will probably be lurking for the most part until the summer judging from the other builds I need to finish off first Embarrassed)

Nice work on the plumbing on that engine!

Thanks !!!  Look forward to seeing your 109 !!  Cool

Wow, I am loving the detail of the engine of this kit!!! I will need to get this kit you have after I finish my first 109.

The add ons you see in the last two shots are all scratched from styrene, solder and wire insulation,,,,,,,,just trying to fill the engine compartment a bit more and give it a more realistic feel,,,,without loosing my mind     Indifferent

Looks good. Were you aware that on the inlet side of the engine block there was a white serial #? Easy to do with dry transfers or a stead hand and fine tipped brush. John

 Geof:

Herman might just have to get over it! Which eduard kit are you referring to? I just started the engine and I am going to add a fuel rail. I noticed the directions are a litte off too with regard to versions. I'll post more on that later. So far this is a really cool looking little kit. Are you going to keep the tail stabilizer/strengthener tabs? Once again I've seen 4's with and without.

He will eventually,,  I went with the Eduard EU32268,,,, from the looks of it gives pretty good help with rounding the bays,, I'm not sure about the tabs as well,, the control surface "ribbing" is way too pronounced everywhere as far as I'm concerned,,,so I'm going to mellow that out a bit,,,Heres the instrument panel "pre" weathering.........................more to come,,,,love to see some pics Geof,,,,

70gtvert ,,,,,awsome looking bird!!!!!

No Pics yet, I literally just put the block together last night. Hopefully the next few days. The Big Ed kit looks interesting, I need to decide where I want to take this and if scratch is the way to go. I can definitely see some real planning for painting, and the overall display with regard to engine options. Pics as soon as this little clump of plastic gets some color!!
