Toshi, don't think I ever though to mask fuselage halves together to dry/test fit. Such a simple idea, thank you. (If I already said that over in the GB, sorry, my brain is gone)

Measure twice, cut once!  Here is a dry fit of the Mosquito's fueselauge.  Thanks to Tamiya's beautiful engineering, there are absolutely no gaps.  Just some very light sanding is needed at the seams.  Meaning no putty at all.

Hey Toshi I think your build is progressing well, as usual for you.

What's with the Oregon weather bashing?

We've had several days this spring when we can see the sun - maybe 7 or 8 - what's wrong with that?

Actually Patrick's statement about the last two weeks in August isn't actually true but I don't want everyone in the U.S.A. to move up here and make the area too crowded. Therefore I'll not go into how I feel this is one of the most beautiful states in the union and is near nirvana for a hiker. Nor will I comment on how I feel the beauty of the Oregon shoreline and its Cascade mountains are so photogenic that, for an amateur photographer like myself, it's paradise. No sense in mentioning that the Columbia Gorge area - both the Oregon and Washington sides - hold some remarkable treasures for those interested in working for them. Nope, let Patrick's statement stand - it'll keep the riff raff out.

 

 

As for the photos, they are just beautiful and stunning.  I've haven't been home to Hawaii since 1999.  I don't miss anything at all except one thing, the smell of the salt air from the Pacific Ocean in the early morning hours.

Yup, the Mossie and some other airplanes were constructed mainly of wood, good strong stuff. But as they aged, if the termites stopped holding hands the wings would fall off. (British pilot joke.)

Toshi. Your right that it was made of wood. I also believe they covered the wood, or parts of it, with a linen-type fabric to smooth out the airplane surface.

Dry fit confirms everything is going according to plan.

Now that the XF-71 had time to cure for 24 hours, it's time to add the details in.

Front fueselauge halves.  Those little dimples you see are not pin ejector marks.  Those are specific by design of the Mosquito.  Don't go looking for panel lines on this aircraft, there are none.  The surface is as smooth as a babies bottom. Don't forget, this was all made of wood!

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking your valuable time in visiting my Mosquito thread.  I'm most honored and humbled.

As for being excited about seeing the final production, I too am extremely ecstatic in my finalization of this massive kit.  Once again, thank you so very much in your read and replies!

That is a lot of detail and its looking good.  Have you been testing its fit in the fuselage?  Just asking, based from experience, Murphy will always make a fuselage become 1mm shorter in diameter in relation to the expense and amount of detail put into a cockpit.

 

I have been dry fitting everything and it looks good, thanks to Tamiya's engineering.  I finally got around in spraying the fueselauge with Tamiya's  XF-71.  Thank's for visiting my Mosquito thread.
