Thanks do much guys- and happy new year to one and all!   First off, I'd like to thank Smeagol for compiling the post in one thread- that must have taken forever.   You're A-Number 1, my friend!  I have gotten some work done- the bird is almost fully cooked at last.   However, I've had to put business before pleasure once again- I was given a special assignment at work that simply has to done by January 5th.  If it weren't really important to out company and just downright fun I'd be whining about- but I'm not.  My wife has been amazingly supportive at having to give me up for what should be ten days off, but that's just the wonderful woman she is.  That dear little model airplane of mine sits waiting for me to finish my storyboards before I can give it the attention it really deserves.  It's become amazingly fragile, what with all the little hatches and tidbits in place- I have to hold it very carefully!  I've even collected all the leftover parts and paperwork in anticpation of it being done.  A little paint, the antenna wire- and it's done.   Thanks for you support- and patience!

As for that next project, well- you'll never make me talk, Herr Schickelgruber!  Tongue [:P]

Chukie!!

Lookin good, mate.  Always a pleasure to see another installment of Lil' Chuk and his Giant Penny.

The Helldiver looks pretty good, too.

Is is a bit precipitous to ask what's next on the workbench?  Can't  wait to find out.....but mate, you DO realise that you've built a rod for your own back....the next build has to be just as spectacular as Lil' Chuk and his Helldiver....LOL....you did it to yourself, you know......heh heh heh.

As they say in the classics, my friend, "Nil bastardum carborundum"....

Cheers, Brother!

Cheers, LeeTree

Same here: I'm waiting for the final installment, admittedly with mixed feelings because I sure did enjoy following this build! I'm sorry it's almost over, but at the same time, we'll all have a gem of a model to admire. One of these days, I'll have to spend a few hours just going through the whole shebang, start to finish, just like I did one day while recovering from my operation a few months back.

My response to chukw's hint: Maybe I'll have to learn to cook sauerbraten!Chef [C=:-)]Smile [:)]

Fantastic chukw,

I've been following this eagerly, you have lots of very useful tips and techniques scattered throughout the build and I hope this gets pinned somewhere as well. Maybe it would be useful to have the entire build available as a PDF file?

Note: After much badgering from our peanut gallery, chukw did begin copyrighting his build posts!

This is an amazing build! I would have done one just like it, but, well, I can't. Big Smile [:D]

Your little German hint at the end confirmed my suspicions, I can't wait to see your riced out Volkwagon GTI.

Here is a late Christmas Gift to ChuckW and to everyone on this forum.

This is the best build I have ever seen, the best WIP as well.  I have said many times there should be a thread of this without comments, for reference.  Well, I made one. Took ALOT of my time.  I hope you all enjoy what I did for Chuck.

Well, just don't take too long of a break between builds, chuk, your posts are what make me get to work on time on Monday mornings. I enjoy every little detail. (Abe could use a little buffing up, he's got to be ready for his next inauguration)  Thanks again!

I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

So is that 'we may have to dress up like germans' a hint to your next post?  Might we be getting a nazi war plane, or dare I hope, a tank of some sort?

You guys kill me!  Propeller [8-] Wouldja look at that view count- over 49K!  Well, most of that is me checking in but you bunch of bananas have really kept me on my toes.  Thanks, brothers and sisters!

Barring events unforeseen, the next post will see this bird finished. Just a couple of things to add- read on to see what. I did forget to add one thing- a Quickboost Mk VII gunsight- on its way from Sprue Brothers. I'd like to take a moment to wish each and every one of you and your families peace on Earth, and goodwill towards man.

Astounding as usual!Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup] It's amazing how chukw keeps finding all these little details to replicate; stuff I wouldn't begin to think existed!

A rabbit's foot might be pretty easy to replicate. A tiny piece of soft "faux fur" fabric might work, or if he has a furry, long-haired cat (or knows someone that has one), he could gently brush the cat and use the cat hair. Chukw could probably scratchbuild a chain without too much trouble, or maybe a very short piece of aftermarket model-ship anchor chain might do the trick.

Beautiful Christmas tree, Chuck!Thumbs Up [tup]

I dont post too often but never miss an update.  Gosh chuk... can you come to Wyoming and give me a hand with a li'l B-17 project I have planned?  It'll only involve a couple months of your time... honest.  LOL!!

All joking aside, chuk... its amazing what you are doing with that Helldiver.  Absolutely amazing.  Merry Christmas to you and yours.  See you in your next installment of this adventure to near perfection!!

The only negative I can see might be that your "Kits I Finished in 2008" modeling list is going to be real short  Big Smile [:D]

Chuckw, man is there anything on that plane that isn't srachbuild or is PE. This it the most unbeleivable model that I'm ever seen made, every little bit of detail is correct (well just about). I could never do that much.

Great job, and merry christmas

Chuck,

Your work is astonishing. I have degrees in philosophy and literature but I lack the vocabulary to express how impressed I am. You have inspired me to get started on my 1/32 DeHavilland Mosquito. I doubt I can achieve the level of detail as you did in a much smaller scale but I learned a great deal from this thread and I plan to use as much of what you taught me as I can.

As Garth Algar was told, "You're (gulp) amazing dude."

Truly though, A rabbit's foot on a chain and possibly a snap-shot of a wife or girlfriend on the control panel would be a nice touch!
