Wow Troy, you are both fast and excellent builder. I am amazed at the speed and the quality of your work. This one is up to your usuall standards and it turned out great. Is the paint still wet on that bad boy !!!!!. Great job.

Shock [:O] Awesome work Troy!!!  How'd you do that so darn fast?  I haven't even got mine out of the box yet but then I've been out of town since Christmas, just got back yesterday.

Jeez Hook, I'm just barely opening mine! You did a really nice job there! Especially considering the canopy drama. That's a very nice model build.

Troy, that 51 looks great.  I still have my kit sitting in the pile of Christmas gifts in the living room.  As soon as I finish redoing my shop I'll get started.

A rogue Secret Santa in your midst !
Posted by Bossman on Saturday, January 3, 2009 10:53 AM

Hello all,

I've been keeping up with the posts on this thread although this fall I just didn't get around to signing up for this years SSGB3.  I must say - it's been very entertaining (especially watching Drew's torment during the twelve days)

Well, my Secret Santa from last year (Steve - Zipmeister) noticed that I wasn't a part of the thread - and very generously bestowed undeserved gifts upon this humble Santee anyway.  I just had to share this with you guys.

Steve man - that was very kind and generous of you.  What can I say - but Thanks so much !   These are very very nice kits & both of the aircraft are high on my favorites list.

To all - I hope all of your Christmases were merry.  Happy New Year !

Wow HK, you are done already? Very nice Mustang. I always thought that those Allison engined P-51s looked cool.

So here I come, a day late and a dollar short. Ok, more then a dollar aaannnddd more then a day. But I am here, and I am a lucky lucky individual. My secret santa who identified himself as someone from LI which I assume means long island (frankly I am a little embarrassed as this shows I haven't been around enough if I can't quite identify the man who provided me with my only christmas gift this year) now you ask, "why is Chris so lucky. he doesn't seem that lucky, he is always crying about something". Well I will tell you, I received a 1/48 Hobby Boss F3F-Wildcat (Early). Why is this awesome? first it is an amazing kit, looking through the box and it is just beautifully molded, second I have never built anything this early and certainly not a yellow wing, and third I didnnt know that I wanted to build this until I got it. I have such a bad habit of not venturing outside my comfort zone of planes I like" that having people choose kits for me is the only way I expand my horizons. I can't wait to get it started; and I can't wait to build my computer next month so I can communicate with you guys again. and of course I can't wait for my friend from LI to identify himself so I can thank him personally.

Just wait, mid february when I get my computer together you are all going to be entertained as I look through the pictures from christmas morning, and post the pictures of my own from said morning. I guess these days I am doomed to be late.

BSpeed: What did you think of the historical twins I got ya? I was very pleased with my decision, I hope you were just as pleased.

It is only the intellect that keeps me sane; perhaps this makes me overvalue intellect against feeling

Wow we must all busy on the kits that we fell to page 2.  Home sick today so i should get more done on the bug. Got the nose cone together and all the white parts painted.  I used a little tip i heard from somewhere that if you spray a thin coat of silver the parts will coat more evenly when  the white goes on.  I'll post pics a little later, and to show what not to do when you use Tenex.Angry [:(!]  I'm still waiting for my resin seat from Squadron.  Got the decals and my F-14 seats but the Bug Seats must be OOS.  Figures

Any other bug builders out there? Do i need to put weights in the nose to avoid the dreaded tail dragger??
